There are two mainstream tournaments, the leagues and the GFDT.

GFDT is annual, and leagues are biannual. The second league season will be starting soon, so drop me an email if you want to join (email address is in my profile).

GFDT will only be restarting in October November time.

We are coming to the end of the first season. Of the individual leagues, Group A has finished, Group B still has 2 games finishing, though both are in the late midgame, Group C has one to play out, D has finished, E has one to finish, and F has finished.

So that makes 4 games out of the 24 or 25 games to play out. I would suggest between 2 weeks and a month, depending on my group, Group B. This League has had more twists and turns than a snakes and ladders board! Honestly, with two games to play, anyone of five players could still win the League, and the second and third places are still very much up for grabs.

amonkeyperson: the current GFDT site is http://www.llamanation.org/gfdt2008. Unfortunately it's too late to join this year's action but as TheGhostmaker said, we'll be having another starting in the fall.

@Babak - The league or GFDT games are usually played at 25 points/person or less. If everyone assigned to a game wants to up the ante then they are welcome to. If all you can afford is 5 points/game then that is ok too. Just be aware that you will likely have 4 games going at once if you play in the league and 2 for the GFDT and will be expected to be able to put up the minimum for all of them.

The leagues are a particularly heavy game load. I've hardly been able to sneak in a "normal" game since back in the days of Masterminds+ games, and then the advent of GFDT and the leagues.
