If you're doing Axis and Allies, shouldn't Turkey be the swing country? I don't think there was ever any chance of Mussolini joining the Allies.

Historically yes, I would completely agree with you Invicitus, but when put in to practice who as turkey would choose an alliance with the allies?

But that guarantees a Juggernaut with Russia. And On the Axis he can get the Balkans easy and focus on Russia.

The game's called Axis and Allies. The Axis was in World War II.

The Allied Powers and the Central Powers is what they are called historically speaking.

Italy did switch sides once Mussolini was out. That's accurate.

Also, in WWI, Turkey was definitely anti-British (watch movie Lawrence of Arabia or Galipoli) for fun references to this statement.

What happens once the opposing alliance is killed?

In WWI, the two opposing alliances were called the Triple Alliance (composed of the central powers) and the Triple Entente (France, Britain and Russia). Turkey was an associated power of the Triple Alliance. Italy did what Italy always does and switched sides.

strat - I would assume the victorius alliance will draw. I am in a WW1 version of the game, and that was the deal going in.

Some Comments on that - Russia and Germany are screwed from the beggining, because they are both surrounded by enemies. England is actually pretty easy, because they're surrounded by friendlies and can just build fleet after fleet to give support and convoy and take SCs as they come available. I'm England in my game, btw.

Well thats how I understood it. (You know I'm talking about World War One, right?)
I'm sure I'm right about Turkey, as there was a big naval operation to try and land troops in Gallipoli from where further attacks could be launched on the rest of Turkey to knock them out the war. The operation failed - ships sunk by mines, men gunned down on the beaches.
As for Italy - maybe I'm wrong, but I didn't think I was. Not as sure on that one though.

The Triple Alliance is different from the Central Powers. the Central Powers were Germany & Austria, plus Bulgaria and Turkey who were hoodwinked into joining them. The Triple Alliance was a defensive alliance between Germany, Italy, and Austria, and since Italy thought Austria had started an aggressive war against Serbia they stayed neutral.

They did join the Entente when promise a lot of Austrian land. They only got a little and that helped put the Fascists in power.

I like the swing Italy idea, I hope I get it. If Italy joins the Allies that seals Germany's fate. If not, then England will have to work double duty helping out France and Russia (assuming Germany/Italy vs France, Austria/Turkey vs Russia)

Should be exciting, to say the least.
