Assuming this is a profit driven exercise, obvious solution is to have the federal/state government pay the cost (making it not-for-profit). So you don't have planned parenthood having to pressure people to keep their operations open.

Of course the other alternative is to go backwards like the 66 countries which currently don't legally allow abortion (Ireland included) and cause untold damage from the unsafe abortions which occur in these places.

True, I believe that we cannot abolish abortion completely and criminalizing it will only lead to illegal & unsafe abortion practices. I personally think we should spend more money educating children on birth control and improving it. Open to change my mind and welcome POWERFUL ideas! :D

Well, yes, the fact that the anti-choice forces are dead set against any of the measures demonstrated to reduce abortions pretty much is proof positive that they abortion is NOT what they're concerned about. Anyone who is genuine in their concern about abortion would be providing education, health care, and contraception to women of all ages.

However, i'm not sure starting with a fake video by a known con artist is the best starter for that debate.

Why don't we just kill the babies right after they are born? Seems much simpler and more efficient. We would need some sort of a cut-off date beyond which it would not be permissible, I imagine.

@ND do you support actions which are empirically proven to reduce the number of abortions/unwanted pregnancies, like comprehensive sex ed? Do you support easy and cheap access to contraception?

Do you agree with the proposition that unwanted oregnancies and unwanted children can lead to higher rates of crime? And that women who don't want to have children shouldn't be raising children?

Do you agree that every abortion is a tragedy, and we should collectively (meaning federally funded) take whatever actions which have been proven to reduce them?

@Supersteve, we don't because we don't need to. The new born baby may not be a person, in that it doesn't have any personality to speak of. And it may not contribute anything to society yet, and require a huge investmen of time and money before it will. But there is no reason to kill it and depriving it of the right to life.

At any earlier point, the right to bodily autonomy must allow the pregnant person to at the very least remove this parasitic growth. If that growth can survive independently, then their is no need to kill it. If we figure out how to do this safely, and freeze or implant unwanted embryos in wanting parents, then that rights position may vary. But until then we should be taking effect steps to minimise the number of abortions.

@orathaic has a good point. I like the idea of implanting the embryo in wanting parents! With the rise in self-proclaimed homosexual relationship or ED, etc. this can fill the demand. Nice!

And the first successful uterus transplant. Which should allow any man accept an unimplanted embryo. I recommend starting with law makers trying to restrict access to safe healthcare.
