All NMRs were cleared when the last NMR bug was fixed about a year ago or so, so all NMRs are record are relatively recent.

Right now the only and best way to improve your RR is simply not to NMR or CD, as it is cumulative you can raise it back up simply by being the mature person you are now :)

RR is the cube power of the average you *don't* NMR/CD, so it should rise quickly over time if you're consistent.

Of course more intricate RR calculations are something we've been looking into, and if you know someone fluent in PHP who wants to submit a Pull Request we'll look into it with full vigor.

As far as family emergencies and such, of course those happen and take precedence, I myself have multiple NMRs and CDs, and no one is asking for 100% RRs or anything. Frankly I think anything above 90 or so is redundant.

Yeah I would just like to be above 50% and hit the 60% range. But if that's the case then my rating should not be 49% because until coming back this year I don't believe I played in 2015...

i CD'd in two league games way back in the day, and those are still on my record; so i don't think it has been swept clean. (Actually it was my sitter who didn't play for the two weeks i was away, but i took back over when i was back...)

A better rating system could taking into account the past two months (say*) and have a decreasing weight for games more than two months old (if you have no games in the past two months your RR will remain the same, because you've nothing to show you have improved.. but once you are playing it will recover quickly)

CDs were not erased with that NMR update. Only NMRs were.

Also, ora, the complications of coding your suggestion are pretty significant. I don't think a change like that is in the cards until we have more help with development and coding.

@Bo, how complicated it is depends on how it is coded.

For example, if it looks back at every NMR/CD recorded in your history and recalcualtes every day/hour/ whatever, then you can edit that easily - but this seems unlikely because it would be a huge server load...

if it only updates a single number (like the weights for what country you will get) by looking at the most recent data (each phase, say) then you need to do some other logic and it is harder to improve.

But if it is easy, i can make a small change.

When we've discussed it in the past, the idea of an ideal solution is one that looks back about a year or at some number of games if the player hasn't played much recently. I think two months is probably too short.

So no an exponential function, with decreasing weight the further back it is (but never ignoring a result)

Or does Vdip already have an implementation where taking over CDs by other players improves your RR?

I think 6 months would be the correct way to do it. Half a year gives a lot of time to prove you have integrity to stay active in your games. Creating a new account is always another option, no? However, I think that defeats the purpose and also could lead to meta gaming. I also love the fact that this account dates all the way back to 2009, which is why I'm sad I'm being punished for my high school immaturity.

Again I love this site and think the Mods have done a great job with it and it's handling of meta-gaming. (My most recent world dip. Game got cancelled because they brought down the law on some cheater, which I was actually very pleased with how fast and efficient things got resolved!)

Are you not aloud to have Multiple accounts? I'm fully in support of the NO, but with the way the reliability rating system is, it is hard for me to make up for bad choices that I made 2-7 years ago. I also notice I do get at least 1 NMR or CD in my recent games that have no cap.

Yes, having multiple accounts, especially to get around RR issues is against the site rules.

But Yes, it is also the simplest way for a new player to resolve this issue.

I don't see anything wrong with even just saying that CD's get wiped out after 2 years. That would take around 12 out of my 13 CD's off my list, since all 12 came before 2011.

Is Facebook Diplomacy still alive? I played there for a few years before joining webDip.

the FB implementation technically exists, is like 19 versions/5 years behind, and not officially part of our site. I think that covers everything...

Some of the NMR's were forgiven. The code does not accurately represent what was done since some were deleted out of the database when they could not be associated with canceled game ID's, etc. You can, however, still see which NMR's are being counted against you with a link on your profile by clicking the "breakdown" button or by adding in your USERID to the end of this URL:

If any of the ones being counted against you seem unfair to you I would email the moderators at [email protected] to discuss the issue further.

So the solution then is to email the mods asking that anything over like 2 years old be removed?

The short response here is:

* clearly we need some time-based drop off. My preference is for something like "last 20 games or last year of playing, whichever is more games"
* we won't be implementing vDip's CD takeover incentive. Just because you took over a CD doesn't mean you're any more reliable

Anyone willing to code something like what I've described above would be welcome too. I don't have time right now.
