GoT Variant?
I recently started watching Game of Thrones, and as you can imagine it reminded me of this wretched game quite a bit. Has anyone thought of making a variant based on Westeros? Does one already exist?

Bernie Sanders kicked out of hippie commune for laziness
http://freebeacon.com/politics/bernie-sanders-asked-leave-hippie-commune/

Raises the question in my mind of what will be done (if anything) with people who refuse to work in the socialist society Bernie and his supporters wish to impose. Forced labor camps? Expulsion from the country? Revocation of their EBT card and Section 8 subsidies? Or nothing?

Participants wanted for slightly longer game
I won't have time to play shorter games for several weeks, but I want to go ahead and get a slightly longer game started with some reliable folks who don't mind 3 day phases.

The Trump Effect
Recently I've been hearing several left leaning souls start talking about the likelihood of them voting Trump now that the Bern has been all but extinguished. What I am curious about is why. What is it about Trump that makes him the lesser of two evils?

Just a basic question!
What does voting to 'Cancel' mean? what do you cancel when you vote for it?
And, how does Pause work? when you pause, how do you resume the game? is it paused for a specific amount of time or do you vote to un-pause later?

Webdip simulation advert
Hey Webdip, for the past 2 weeks a dozen of your fellow diplomats have been hard at work keeping a mock colony alive, I invite anyone who wishes to join to PM me and you will be added on 4/25 at midnight UTC -5. If you are playing please comment with how you are liking the game.

The game is currently dealing with the balance between militarization and peace. As well as the struggle between conservative religious practice and liberal science. Wiyh far more to come

This is a great game. It combines all the usual forum characters with an imaginative goal. Instead of Mafia where there is good and evil you have a firm objective; here you can dream. You can do anything and you never know what may happen. This is a great game for people who like to create things. We are building a world here; a challenging world but a vibrant and inspiring world.

have you ever wanted to walk the shoes of a conquistador? Maybe a catholic missionary in the 15th century? Have you ever wanted to try your hand at colonialism? Well jump into the Webdip simulation game. We have pestilence, we have death, we have manifest destiny and yes we have smallpox blanketsz

This is not a high or low committment game. You could make 1 substantial proposal and levy a vote. I just talk alot.

I love this game. I am a Dungeoun Master in all my D&D groups and it is so fun to play a character. This game I am a Pacifist far too outspoken and ahead of his time. Its hard to play like a Monk who wants nobody to die. I imagine my character is bald and probably suffering from severe dimentia. Or maybe hes a genius?

Its a good game. you should join just to vote me down before my lack of willingness to fight gets someone killed.

the councilors have made contact with the natives and have in their possession smallpox blankets. Will history repeat itself or will these councilors choose peace over war.

the best acting is when you are playing yourself in a slightly different situation. I am indeed anti war in real life however.

Oct- I have a deck of cards and I assign actions to each card and amounts. For example if the group wants to send out an expedition I have my cards split into 3 areas: Positive, Negative, and Neutral. With this particular situation I used neutral as a number generator. I pull a card with a pre-determined effect as described in my GM, it can be anything from attacked by natives, to discovers abandoned native camp. In this case the card pulled was encounter natives (neutral) so the sea expedition they sent out turned away once coming in contact with natives. When the group requests 1000 wood in a resupply I pull a card 2-A to determine the amount of wood they receive. It is all based in the cards; however I am the one who determines the probabilities. (which the council is fairly lucky as I have some pretty aggressive cards that I haven't pulled yet)

I see... Or, to put it more accurately, I don't see much more clearly than before but have grown more comfortable with my level of ignorance :).

I purposefully have not made the system public as it would allow the council to make decisions based on the likelihood of an event happening. I would rather the council make decisions based on the possibility of anything happening and allow them to argue over what is more likely. But to keep it simple I have a deck of cards with values assigned based on situation and I draw cards to determine all outcomes (similar to classic DnD when the DM rolls dice. Only my method is more elaborate and provides for more detail in the story.)

I use all cards in a deck including jokers. Hearts are positive, Clubs are neutral, Spades are negative. Diamonds are assigned to key characters, I.E Banton (The military adviser) is the Ace of Diamonds. Jokers allow me to decide entirely what happens, it is the creative card that lets me throw curve balls or life preservers depending on how good or bad the colony is doing.

So for example, I can pull a card: (which btw this is not the actual card number that corresponds to the event) 8 Spade "X falls ill" then I draw a diamond card K Diamond "Farmer Franz" So now I tell the players that Farmer Franz has fallen ill. We had a situation in which i pulled "X attempts a coup" then for X I pulled "Father Julius" So I wrote into the story the whole extremist religious ideology to explain Julius' attempt to usurp power. The system has been working pretty well, I am sure the players would agree at this point.
CB has done an excellent job in designing and running the game. I encourage anyone interested to join and give it a go.

First Time Prom.
Help me WebDip, you're my only hope.

Seriously, though, I am a male junior, and found out today that the person on my mind has me on hers. Prom is in 2 weeks. I have not asked her, and fear that the window has shut on this opportunity. Even if I did go (all my buddies want me to go) I would have no idea what to do, what to say, or where to go.

Austria Hungary
Has anyone ever commented on the apparent loss of the word "Hungary" from AH's appellation? I hear it in face to face play, but around here, the red pieces are only ever Austria.

Masculinity
I think this article raises interesting questions about tue performance of masculinity: survival skills, reverence for 'back to nature' thinking, inner city violence... Never mind sexuality.

But to have equation, balance, one should have just another guy in his team. Not a 3 person team. This will work? ANyone want to participate?
