Support Holds not happening.
Has anyone else experienced Support holds that have been set never happening once the game proceeds. It is happening pretty consistently for me and I don't understand. I set support holds and when the game proceeds my units end up simply holding. The support isn't getting broken, the units just aren't doing anything. Am I alone in this? Could this be an error that occurs when using a mobile phone? Someone please help.

How different would the primaries be...
... if all the results were not published until after all states have voted?
Would that be good or bad?
I'm thinking it might lead to less people ending their campaigns early and more people voting for whoever they believe in, rather than voting strategically. It may also take away some media power.

@Lethologica

How did you get he rose from He is Risen. You're stretching a bit there buddy. Happy Easter nonetheless. :-)

Putin33 (111 D)

Risen - past participle of rise, rose simple past tense of rise.

Fairly obvious.
Lethologica (203 D)
27 Mar 16 UTC

Well, the archaic present perfect construction "<subject> is/has <verbed>" implies a point in the past where the subject verbed. So I ran with it. Hardly a stretch when the event in question is a centerpiece of Christian theology (though I'm aware there's always wonkiness when temporality is applied to divinity).
Lethologica (203 D)
27 Mar 16 UTC

*only "is" is archaic; "has" is not, obviously.
Sure, but "is Risen" shows an eternal truth (Has Risen, and is still Risen). Rose simply confers an event in history. I rose this morning, but will lay down again this evening.
It simply conveys a different meaning, so it obviously had a different intent. Still it's a stretch. Like I said though, Happy Easter nonetheless :-)
Putin33 (111 D)

There is nothing happy about the mass killing of baby animals.
Lethologica (203 D)
27 Mar 16 UTC
"is risen" implies "rose". "Rose" does not necessarily imply "is risen", but that's entirely unnecessary for the mild joke which we have now beaten to death and strangled with its own entrails. So, y'know, thanks for having a sense of humor.
All those eggs, right? We actually just had nine which isn't that much more than a typical Sunday.

Think about all of those hot dogs and hamburgers on July the Fourth, though? & chicken wings on Suoer Bowl Sunday.
Putin33 (111 D)
27 Mar 16 UTC
"Sure, but "is Risen" shows an eternal truth (Has Risen, and is still Risen)"

RIsen is not a predicate adjective, it is a present perfect construct derived from Matthew 28:6. The bible is replete with examples of conjugating verbs of motion in the present perfect with auxiliary constructions using "be" instead of "have".

Yes, your lust for animal cruelty is duly noted. Typical Christian compassion.
Lethologica (203 D)
27 Mar 16 UTC
Christians like to use it both ways. One of those little linguistic accidents that get imbued with significance due to the theological elegance of it.
@ Putin

Sure like "She is gone" which isn't archaic at all. What you said doesn't really refute the point though. A point which Lethlogica acknowledged.

The usual faulty generalizations though, You tried to make it sound like consuming meat is a typically Chrsitian thing to do. WHne we both know that it is a typically human thing to do & once again derisively called it Christian compassion. What holidays do you celebrate buddy? I bet somebody has a tradition of eating meat on it. Happy Easter :-)

The big question is why the need to respond so seriously to somebody posting six words that were basically inoffensive ;-) It wasn't me making a big deal out of things. Just responding to some mockery after I posted. Happy Easter.

Putin33 (111 D)

:Sure like "She is gone" which isn't archaic at all."

What bearing does the existence of other predicative adjectives have on whether he is risen is used as a predicate adjective? Does anybody in the modern context go around saying that their bread is risen? Or that their child is risen? Of course not.

"WHne we both know that it is a typically human thing to do & once again derisively called it Christian compassion."

That's the moral defense of slaughtering young animals on a collossal, global industrial scale. The moral equivalent of "boys will be boys", the same defense used by Christians to deflect criticism of all historical evils. And yet Christians tell us that they moved human morality to a more advanced stage from the barbarous animal sacrificing pagans. Yes most holidays have a tradition of meat eating. Few holidays are as macabre and cruel about it as those involving Paschal. I can't think of another holiday that goes out of its way to breed and destroy animals less than a year old.

"The big question is why the need to respond so seriously to somebody posting six words that were basically inoffensive ;-)"

For the same reason that your co-religionists stand outside of clinics screaming obscenities at women around the holidays. Because I find your religion disgusting and don't wish to have it rubbed in my face.
@ Putin

So the only thing that you'll tolerate out of an opposing viewpoint is absolute silence? nice. Or what would have been an acceptable post? Five words? Leave off the Alleluia maybe?
@ Putin again

You really seem to try so hard to incite anger in others. No time for you today, sorry.
@ everyone

The Lord is Risen indeed. Alleluia. Happy Easter :-)

I personally dislike the use of "is" to denote the present perfect for verbs of motion and transition. It's far too French for my taste, never mind the archaism of it. "He has risen" carries the same meaning (emphasis on SAME) and is much more agreeable to current English usage.

As for the resurrection of Christ itself: how wonderful it is to remember and celebrate! And in keeping with what Jesus said, the haters will continue to hate.
OS! Good to hear from ya :-) Happy Easter!
Putin33 (111 D)
28 Mar 16 UTC
"So the only thing that you'll tolerate out of an opposing viewpoint is absolute silence?"

We've already had one Easter thread. How many do we need? And you're notorious for baiting people with her holy roller shtick. You say Happy Easter to people you know are atheists just to antagonize people. You just can't get enough.
Lethologica (203 D)
28 Mar 16 UTC
I won't speak for Crazy Anglican's motives, but I'll take a well-meant Happy Easter from anyone, regardless of my personal beliefs. Or a Happy Passover, or a Happy Eostre. I'm not picky.
Lethologica (203 D)
28 Mar 16 UTC
Still a ways to Passover, of course. I'll be looking forward to it in a month.
Putin33 (111 D)
28 Mar 16 UTC
Yes we could all be warm and fuzzy together if these lovely people wouldn't hurl verbal abuse at women with special venom around the holiday season. I'm not of the turning the other cheek sort, especially as CA does this all the time.
Putin33 (111 D)
28 Mar 16 UTC
Yes let's all rejoice at Passover, especially the Palestinians of occupied Khalil. Must be fun having to endure a lockdown so that Israelis can celebrate on their land.

http://mondoweiss.net/2015/04/passover-palestinians-israelis/
Lethologica (203 D)
28 Mar 16 UTC
I mean, bringing up examples of what actually constitutes shoving one's religion in others' faces highlights the contrast between those examples and the things you're getting pissy about. What's your point? That by going off on CA you're going to prevent such things from happening? That CA's hallelujah is comparably harmful?
