So has Draugnar finally matured and can I take him off my mute list?
Draug need not answer. I won't see it. But does anyone else what to chime in with their opinion so I can decide if it is safe to take him off? I kind of miss his ferociously bombastic posts, but he got so over the top in his youthful desire to act tough I had to mute him or kill him before his (mental) 21st birthday, and the former was the better option

Compliment thread
In this thread you must compliment the poster above you. We've done this before and it was pretty funny and also not the usual catastrophe.

I am moving to Princeton for a research project at the university. Does anyone here live in Princeton, or in New Jersey in general?

"Now Where Have I Heard That Before..." (A Game Played Entirely On Quotes?)
Every message you send has to be a quote from a movie, TV show, book, song, etc., with the exception of locations (as finding a quote for moving to the Ruhr is a bit too difficult, I think)...an example, say, Italy asking Russia for help could be:
"With our combined strength (@Budalest) we can END this destructive conflict, and bring order to the galaxy, er, Europe!" :p

Returning to webdip
After a year away, I've decided to come back to webdip for the duration of my summer holiday (as opposed to just making the occasional post on the forums every 3 months). Not playing any games until I've got past my week away that starts in a fortnight. How's webdip getting on?

Rangers FC (Scottish football)
So, today Scottish Football League clubs have voted that the "new" Rangers FC, arising out of the old, bankrupt and liquidated, Rangers, will enter the league structure in Division 3 (the fourth tier of league football in Scotland).

Throwing a Game
When is it acceptable to throw a WTA game( or any game for that matter, but WTA has the stiffest "penalty") knowing that you could force a draw? Are there ever grounds to believe that this is ever acceptable? I don't believe so, but looking to be proven wrong. I am of the school that would say Win; failing that, draw. Period. Curious to know what others think.

Shopping and handbags
See below.

In anticipation of the new wave of female members on webdiplomacy, I'm starting this thread on shopping and handbags so we can all talk about how awesome shopping and handbags are. Hopefully, we can share some Pinterest links, talk about periods, and complain about our boyfriends.
orathaic (1009 D(B))

Do you approach shopping as an exploration game, with all the pleasure of finding new things on sale, or as a quest game, with a specif goal in mind (likely lower price and time to find all the items on your list) ??
2ndWhiteLine (2611 D(B))
12 Jul 12 UTC
Personally, it's all about time. Get in, get out as fast as possible. I don't try things on.
Octavious (2701 D)

Shopping is war. You must achieve your objectives as quickly as possible against the tyranny of the sales assistants whilst making sure your wallet suffers acceptable losses.

Anyway, onto the subject of periods. Feel free to express your disgust with what I am about to say, but it is God's honest truth. Picasso's blue period, in my opinion, produced a hell of a lot of dire and miserable crap and is highly over rated.
EYYYYYEEEEE ROLLLLLLLLLLLL
In anticipation of a new wave of female members on webdiplomacy, how about we not assume that all women care about shopping and handbags?
2ndWhiteLine (2611 D(B))
12 Jul 12 UTC
I personally think the Cretaceous period was the coolest. I mean, come on...dinosaurs?
I think the different approach to shopping goes back to the hunter-gatherer past of humanity. Men were hunters, thus "Need shirt.....found shirt....go home". Women as gatherers had to notice colors and textures to determine whether a certain berry or mushroom was good to eat or poisonous. So, they are far more careful about the whole process.

My dad is a huge guy. Ex-military, about 6 foot 4, really tough. He went to exactly one Black Friday sale where he got his ass kicked by a 70 year old woman trying to get a laptop that was on extreme sale.
God loves little gray haired ladies. He puts angels around them that make even the toughest guy cower, lol.

The trouble with 70 year old women is, no matter how evil and twisted they are, as soon as you punch them in the face you're they bad guy.

My opinion on periods is that they are an essential thing in our lives i mean can you guys imagine trying to go through your daily lives if there were no periods thank god for periods i love periods and no i wont apologize for that what's wrong with periods nothing in fact they should be celebrated and enshrined as a pleasurable aspect of modern life

and theyre not even that painful trust me i should know i have a lot of experience with periods because of what i spend my time doing in college

Periods are overrated. Spontaneous prose ftw. Also handbags are a blessing. Backpacks are for ugly people and briefcase keeps your hand occupied so you can't scratch your manly beard and that just sucks. Messenger bags, sling bags, satchels, I love them all.
