This Forum Used To Be Fun...
I could purposely say something stupid, and everyone would jump on me, and then I could sit back and laugh at their naivety. But nowadays, it's all anti-religion, anti-conservative babble, and there's a general lack for a sense of humor. I feel like that one guy in an airport who actually wants to go to Detroit.

What would happen if...
Somebody places units in spring so that if they do not get dislodged, they will control 18 centres by fall, but they NMR during the spring retreats and fall diplomacy phases, thus falling into Civil Disorder, but they still control 18 centres by the end of the year? Do they win, or do they count as having 'left'?

The world is under attack again!
We are needing additional players to join the sequel to a very interesting game in which 5 major powers remained closely tied after considerable amounts of alliances shifted. The game is nearing end and the key players have agreed to rejoin the new game. however we need a considerable amount of players still in this world dip game.

Don't blame the Free Market for Socialism
A free market is a market where two parties engage in completely voluntary exchanges of goods and/or services.
Any coercion or interference in the transaction by a 3rd party is not a free market transaction. You buying a beer after work is a free market transaction.

Joe Biden's Charitable giving
It's pretty funny to here Joe Biden talk about helping out his fellow Americans and comparing that empty rhetoric with how he has actually helped out his fellow Americans. FYI Joe, if you want to help someone create a job. Something of course you don't know how to do.

What's the most common 3 way draw?
AGI? EGT? RTF? What do you think?
killer135 (100 D)

FGT
CSteinhardt (9560 D(B))

I believe in press games it's FRT.
I would wager that F/G/T is the most common in gunboat.
Vaftrudner, any ideas?

I like that I've found my place in this community - stats whore.

The most common ménage à trois on this site is EFT. This is also true if we look at only press games. In gunboats, it's FGT, so point to Lando. Top 10 for both:

Regular games:

England France Turkey

England France Italy Germany Austria Turkey Russia

Show us how to win as austria, you slut.
Vaftrudner (2533 D)
21 Apr 12 UTC
I'm a stats courtesan.

Most of the Austrian openings seem to vary between 6-8% wins. I have to refine the code more, but the most effective opening seems to be:

Vienna Move to Trieste - Trieste Move to Albania - Budapest Move to Serbia

I never found out how you make a E-F work successfully. In my opinion there's simply too much tension along the border to make a E-F work...
Vaftrudner (2533 D)
21 Apr 12 UTC
Not that hard, just stay out of EC and don't build fleets in Brest/Liverpool. And make sure that England gets a fair share of Germany.

Not the easiest alliance, but neither is it particularly hard.
Gobbledydook (1389 D(B))
21 Apr 12 UTC
But if England gets enough of Germany we are look at England having the edge position, France stuck in the middle, having to commit most of the forces in the south, and England's units having nothing to do. It never ends well I swear.

Turkey is dominant. This is something that doesn't come into the picture when we discuss country W/D/L stats. The average size of their draw. Turkey seems to be involved in just about every 3WD
Vaftrudner (2533 D)
21 Apr 12 UTC
Yes, the one thing that is constant in all my statistics is how ridiculously overpowered Turkey is.
Check out France! It was in all of the top 10 gb pairings and 7/10 press pairings. France and Turkey are monsters.
Vaftrudner (2533 D)
21 Apr 12 UTC
Turkey has more wins than France though, while France has more draws. Russia has the most wins in press games, but that falls to the ground immediately in gunboats where Russia is the worst performing country, 1% lower in wins than Austria.

A while back, I posted some stats on all of the tournament and league games as of Aug 2011

threadID=760600

FGT was the most common 3way.
The Czech (40297 D(S))

The MOST common 3 way is when there are only 3 left. Duh!
yebellz (729 D(G))
21 Apr 12 UTC
Vaft, are your stats indicating that the 7way draw is in the top 3 for most common draws??

I would presume that's due to a large number of live games being drawn early due to a CD or something. I guess that's a sign of how general games are so heavily biased by CDs, etc.
Yonni (136 D(S))
21 Apr 12 UTC
I suppose that you could, using thee stats, figure out th average points per country in a 420/n scoring system. That could be interesting to use as a weightin system in tournaments.
Vaftrudner (2533 D)
21 Apr 12 UTC
yebellz, it's entirely from bad live games and such. It's not THAT common - 306 seven way draws in 27308 games. It's all the other draws that have small numbers, with so many possible combinations, none of them can reach a significant number.

Yonni, 420/n scoring system?
Yonni (136 D(S))
21 Apr 12 UTC
420 divided by the number of people in the draw. Really, you could use any scoring system. 420 is just a convenient number.
Vaftrudner (2533 D)
21 Apr 12 UTC
I'll look into it a bit later, but I could probably do that pretty quickly :)

Czech wins:

Czech wins in WTA gunboats:
E: 10.87%
F: 20.65%
I: 10.11%
G: 19.10%
A: 5.43%
T: 22.35%
R: 9.89%

Overall: 13.97%

I should add that this is only correct up to April 8, when the database dump I'm working with was made. Anything else you want run? You're fun to research since you have such a significant sample size.
The Czech (40297 D(S))
21 Apr 12 UTC
Can you do a win ratio per country. What I mean is if I am England x times, what is my % win in drawing England? Does that make sense? Can you do that for all 7 countries?
Vaftrudner (2533 D)
21 Apr 12 UTC
I'm not at all sure what you mean by that. But with the site's distribution, you've played every country roughly the same amount of times.

Czech times played:
E: 92
F: 92
I: 89
G: 89
A: 92
G. 85
R: 91
Vaftrudner (2533 D)

Ops, those were WTA gunboats. But it's true for regular games as well.
The Czech (40297 D(S))

So, If I am E in WTA gunboat 92 times and I have a 10.87% win ratio I won approx. 9 games correct?

EOG Gunboat fever

Awww... I'm almost disappointed that it ended in a draw, though France would have won, most probably. Still, Russia, Italy, Germany and Turkey were almost dead. One more round and there would have been many more points to go around, too bad. I had incredible fun playing as Austria, which is a first for me.

Can you win without ever telling a lie?
In a F2F game recently a very moral friend of mine found himself at a loss for ideas with Italy. He saw Russia betray Turkey immediately, and Austria joined the fracas. France was a brand new player who barely knew the rules so he opted not to go for them. As a result he tried a Laponto maneuver, only to realize Russia was already annihilating both Austria and Turkey with a strong alliance with Germany, so killing more of turkey or Austria to benefit himself seemed inherently wrong.
