In truth, I have no hostile feelings towards any of you - I don't know you, never will - just looking for a game every now and then. Hopefully most of us are mature enough to differentiate a forum from a game (though I doubt that based upon some people's comments).

For the record, I'm not a little kid...I'm an electrical engineer that's been playing strategy board games since before a good many on these boards was probably born, though I have little Diplomacy experience.

So insult away if you must...I really don't care. I'll give back as much as I get - it passes the day...

If I have a bunch of friends over playing poker and see someone grabbed the last cold beer and didn't put a new case in the fridge, I can ask "OK, which of you mother fuckers forgot to restock the ice box?" and get away with it fine.

Frankly I don't give a rats ass if I get insulted by somebody that's been on here a hundred years or a hundred seconds...if the insult is thoughtful, and not just, "you're new here, you're stupid!" Is this your house? Do you take some sort of personal pride in the length of time you've been trolling the forums throwing insults at noobs, such as myself? Krellin, I wasn't trying to explain anything 'nicely' to you. But I'd invite you to go back and read my initial comment to you in this thread. There was nothing mean, arrogant or anything of the sort. There was some resignation because there are some threads here that keep repeating themselves every few weeks - but there was nothing inherently insulting to you.

Yet for some reason, you followed me into another long ongoing thread, responded to a post that wasn't directed at you to make fun of my logic and call me a prat. Yet strangely, the person who had asked me to post understood completely what I meant, and responded telling me that now he understood, even if you didn't.

If wasn't until after you started calling me names that I responded in kind. "I'm glad to see your logic fails in this thread as much as it does in others. It confirms my suspicion that you are simply a mouthy, silly prat."

I don't claim any right to this forum or what is posted here, despite you accusing me of that repeatedly. I read the first page. My thought is that... it's okay to make threads like this in order to attempt to create a culture where it is expected that you finalize as quickly as possible. It's a democratic thing. Calling for change is sort of your right.

In particular, the first part. I view the other players/posters as actual people and do feel I am getting to know them. I think it is a shame that you do not. But that leads into the second part, once you get to know someone, it will affect how you interact with them in any capacity.

As for "threatening" that what you do in the forum could affect non-anon games, it wasn't a threat. It was just something to consider. It is also a shame that see a comment like that as a threat rather than helpful advice. If you want to put blinders on with regard to the reputation you are building, that's your choice. But don't blame me if I use your reputation against you if it benefits me.

KRellin, I have to echo Alderian's sentiments. Now that I know you came to this site just to insult others and be insulted, I don't wish to play that game.

I understand Alderain's comments...I just don't fully buy into the idea. Sure I may treat you differently as time goes on, and you me (I've just replied to another thread of yours - interesting topic, I might ad) but you will never TRULY know me as anyone but Krellin on this thread. I will never know you and our live most likely will never cross in real life, and my real life will most likely never, ever be impacted by this game. To think otherwise, and act otherwise, I think is to put a bit too much import into what is a game site, after all...

Some people end up liking each other enough that they end up as friends through this and the other website I participate on which is a college football website. And as friends they share facebook profiles, instant messaging information, meet in real life and everything. My wife made a bunch of friends online and the last time we did a cross country trip we stopped at 3 or 4 of them.

But just because some people get something more out of it than just the game doesn't mean you have to.

Well thank you. Of course, since I'm not looking for RL friends out of this, I will get as much as anyone else, as my expectations are already fulfilled. I get Diplomacy, and I get chat. I don't need anything more out of it, as I have more than enough to fill my basket with friends and family already.

That being said, I'm not discounting the possibility of making friends...hell, you and I could even become friends some day (I'm really not the beast I'm made out to be) - and if that happens, great! I'll have a cold beer waiting. But I have zero expectation of it happening, that is all.
