my point is not whether or not it's 'ok' for a group to use their moral compass rergardless of law. my point was that, in the case of ELF and ALF, their moral compass which dictates their illegal actions in the first place, keeps them from hurting living things.

I believe some of the less strict Amish are permitted to use electricity and telephones for work purposes.

I'm not sure if acts of terrorism would fall into that exception, however.

I was the one who brought up the Amish. I bought up the Amish, the 'new KKK' and the Catholic Church. Three entirely different types of groups with different morals behind them. Just pointing out that if everyone was allowed to blow things up, as long as they didn't hurt anyone, there would be a wide range of moral compasses to choose from. (The Amish are probably precluded from blowing things up anyway, I realize, but the absurdity made me enjoy the post).

(And I believe the Amish don't care what the 'English' do anyway.)

That doesnt make any sense. everyone has morals. no one even condoned their actions (except maybe me)
The only reason I brought up morals in the first place is because someone suggested that because the ELF and ALF are 'terrorists' then the logical conclusion for their illegal actions would culminate in violence towards people. The morals that made them 'terrorists' in the first place are what keep them from hurting people.
