You won't have got the registry entry off the computer. One trick which I used once was to install it on another computer running the same OS, and then copy the files over before uninstalling.

Ghost, I don't know much about computers, but would CCleaner work for him?

I like CCleaner, its not too strong with the registry cleaner so it wont upset your pc.
maybe try to put the disk in and then open up the disk and manually click the setup/install file on the disk? it may lead you to a unistall/repair/reinstall screen

You deleted it and can't even see it on Add/remove programs? And even computer mechanics don't know everything. When i had mine repaired, he managed to delete my Speaker harddrive, now i have my sound card as software, so don't feel too bad Sprite :P

@Hunter49r, I don't know much either, but I do know what hacks have worked for me in the past.

If he is using windows XP he could try:

Remove any trial versions still on his PC

Download and run the file called "WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe" from this webpage:

Download and run the program from this page:

The download link reads "Download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility package now."
(The file you download is named msicuu2.exe)

After installing, first click the "Windows Install Clean Up" shortcut, then select the game you are having trouble installing/uninstalling/reinstalling

If you then want to reinstall, it might be worth turning of security software (firewalls, antivirus etc.) running on your PC.
