Spring 1901 to ?
I'm wondering what (in-game) year the longest running game ended on. Anyone have an idea or a link to some really late endings.

Turkish Virgin foils Lepanto

Hahahahah. Check this out.
Two morons calling themselves MackEye and Gobbledydook try to pull this trick on me but I see it coming and ferry to Armenia to allow the retreat from Bul so Italy won't get his 1902 build

The Yankees have beaten the Angels for the pennant, going to the World Series- their 40TH WORLD SERIES. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer, and the Mets and their fans get closer and closer to alcoholism...

Gunboat Strategy
How does strategy in gunboat games differ from that of regular diplomacy games? I played one a while back and was gone in the first 2 years. What do you differently in gunboat than in regular games?

Catholicism VS. Protestantism
I would like to hear the opinions of those on this site. I respect the position of atheism or otherwise, however I would appreciate responses that prefer one of the aforementioned religions/sects to the other and why.

grammar
I don't know a damn thing about grammar, other than I love commas, so hopefully somebody can help me with this.

While he would like to murder the man who killed his father, he acknowledges that he would not just be taking this man’s life(,) he would be robbing those close to him of an integral part of their lives.

Now, should that comma, the one in parentheses, be a comma, or should it be a semicolon?

I think it's a semicolon. Not sure, though.

This essay is due tomorrow, and while I really don't care too much about one semicolon/comma, my super grammar editor has failed me, and I really wanna know the answer.

Besides the fact that the sentence seems ambiguous in that "him" could refer to the murderer or the son of the murdered logically, I believe that a comma would work (especially if it was phrased "... he would not just be taking this man's life, but that he would also be robbing..."). As it is, however, I think a semicolon works best because it reinforces the first clause (complete thought on its own) while also standing as a complete idea itself. Two complete thoughts with the latter embellishing the former makes for appropriate semicolon usage I believe.

Ok dumb that down for me.

It can't be a comma as it is. You can make it a semi-colon or split into two different sentences. (man's life. He would be...)

i hate seperating sentences, as evidenced by my obsessive comma use.

So semicolon is the way to go?

vamosrammstein, you have gotten good advice here. You seem to like what is called the splice comma and the general rule is that you can only do that if you're a famous writer; the rest of us must use a semicolon to indicate our mediocre status.

We need a pause
Game: http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=13961

We've been trying to pause for two turns now, but one player didn't submit it before the end of the first one, and then during the second he signed in a bunch of times and still didn't vote. Our Russia is away, and can't submit orders; can a mod please pause this game? Russia has also missed the unit destruction phase as a result of this; can that please be reset?
