Question on Support (hopefully not duplicate -- not seen)
I've been told here A can support B supporting C -- in a string. Long ago I learned (we lost rules) that if A wants to support C, it should be touching it or where it wants to go. . .that if B is attacked, C's support will be lost because you can't "Support a Support". . .you can only support an Attack, COnvoy, Hold, etc. -- need answer soon.. .

Solution to Colorblind Problem
See inside.

"If there was a solution to the colorblind problem, I'd consider it. But I can never tell who says what in Global...."

I have a solution for anyone who uses Firefox.

1. Download Greasemonkey and install it.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/748

2. Restart Firefox

3. Get my script here.
http://www.jdw.me/greasemonkey_scripts/phpdiplomacy_chat_color.user.js

4. In your Firefox menu, navigate to tools->greasemonkey->manage user scripts

5. Select "global chat color" and then click the edit button on the bottom left

6. Choose colors! Colors look like this "#DD51BD" or like this "pink".

7. If you want a background color to improve contrast, you can add one (comments in the file show you how).

DONE.

If you need help choosing colors, use this color wheel:
http://www.ficml.org/jemimap/style/color/wheel.html
yeah Chalks! Maybe Kestas should post this in the FAQ? I'll send him an email and see what he thinks

I hope to write colour support into the official code when I attack it this summer, but still helpful. The only warning I'd give is that Greasemonkey can sometimes cause a real drag on pages.
Chalks (488 D)

just changing CSS shouldn't make a huge difference, but you're right, it can slow things down. Also, if this is anyone's first introduction to greasemonkey, be warned that you should _read_ the code in any user script you install. You don't want to install anything malicious by accident.

Nicely done Chalks. Might you consider contributing to the open source of phpDip? =D

Anyways, I think this thread should be kept bumped for a while.

@Draugnar Well a more substantial and wide ranging solution may be coming in another site update, (it's certainly been talked about). But if you have the choice (which you may not if you access the site at work), I'd HIGHLY suggest switching to FF or Chrome or Safari, or Opera, or just about anything other than IE7 (hell even IE8 is probably a step up).

At least it's not IE6 though...

can't kestas define an alternating style sheet?? then you could change it in IE8 using page / style. this page defines only one style sheet

Ok, internet explorer _sort of_ solved. Here's what you need to do:

1. Install Trixie
http://www.bhelpuri.net/Trixie/

2. Download the script and save it somewhere you can find it (do NOT use this in Greasemonkey... only in Trixie).
http://www.jdw.me/greasemonkey_scripts/IE_phpdiplomacy_chat_color.user.js

3. Assuming you installed Trixie in the default directory, browse to My Computer->C:\->Program Files->bhelpuri->trixie

4. Right click on Trixie.config.xml and open with Notepad

5. Replace the word "true" with "false" everywhere it occurs.

6. Add the following line just before "</Scripts>"
<Script name="IE_phpdiplomacy_chat_color.user.js" enabled="true" />

7. Double click on the folder called "Scripts" and move the IE_phpdiplomacy_chat_color.user.js file into it.

8. Right click on the script that you just moved and open with notepad to edit it.

9. Edit the colors using the color wheel linked in original post.

10. Start IE click tools->trixie options then click "reload scripts" in the bottom left.

DONE.

Caveats:
You can only change the background color because IE is a PAIN. If the original developers of phpdiplomacy.net did not use the keyword "!important" in the CSS, we could change the color of the text too, but as it stands, I couldn't find a workaround for it.

This doesn't work on a page refresh, you have to actually navigate to a new page. I don't know why.

This will slow things down more than the original script I wrote. Why? Because it has to loop through every single TD element instead of simply messing with the CSS. I couldn't figure out any other way to do it.

I ONLY tested this on IE7. I believe it will work on IE8, but I don't know for sure.

@WhiteSammy - technically Summer is still 3 days away. June 21 is the usual Summer Solstice. September 21 is usually the Autumnal Equinox (first day if Autumn). Decemer 21 is the Winter Solstice (start of Winter). And March 21 is the Vernal Equinox (start of Spring). These may vary by a day either side, but are fairly reliable to determine the start of summer. This year it is either the 20th or 21st of June, depending on the time zone, California starts on the 20th at 10:45pm. On the East Coast (Ohio and Kentuckys' time zone), it's at 1:45am on the 21st.

It throws an error in IE 7.

Line 24, character 5, identifier expected. I'd debug it myself, but I'm to tired from working a niggling bastard of an ASP.NET bug that was only showing when I was running an AJAX panel that I don't feel like looking at code too much tonight.

hey - when are you going to get around to updating our dip site????????????

Draugnar (0 DX)
19 Jun 09 UTC
OK, I debugged it after all. I also enhanced it so you can set font styles (i.e. make similar colors have one be bold or underline or italic and the other be different).

Send me an email (it's in my profile) and I'll send my debugged version to you.

I also did a little research on MSDN and found a means to get and edit on the fly the stylesheets on a document. I may look at using that to actually alter the colors for all text (tabs and everything) based on the nation.

Bumpity bump. If there's anything close to a final release of this, we can ask Kestas to put it in the FAQ.

Convoy's into the Baltic and beyond
I don't really think you should be able to convoy over land. But I hate that you can't convoy directly into the Baltic and beyond. The only way I see to fix this is letting you convoy through Denmark of Kiel (Giving them a lot of strategic importance) or (The better solution) make Denmark, Ska, Baltic, and Swe all connect at a 4 way intersection.

Which do you all think is better? Is it a problem at all? this personally drives me insane...

Out-there idea for a new phpDip release
As the Mods here know, this is a second account (my other account being "cteno4"), but given my account's purpose they allowed me to continue playing on it so long as I joined no more games.

What about creating a feature for having second accounts strictly for the purpose of CD takeovers? That should let players improve game balance without giving up their own points to do it. You'd have to link it to your first account, certainly.

Let's say a fleet is happily convoying an army over and it becomes attacked. Let's say that the fleet that is convoying is supported by a friendly unit. Will it continue to convoy the army?
