ok so:
Here are the districts which look abnormally large: Budapest, Moscow, Burgandy, MAO, Moscow. We you look at the ACII map though these provinces are put into perspective.
Any thoughts? should there be a better map without the injustice put upon certain provinces placing and the sizes of them on the board?: thoughts...

lazysummer8484
I'm trying to get a hold of lazysummer8484 to confirm his participation in round 2 of the GFDT and haven't had much success via email. If someone in a game with him could let him know to contact me (email is in my profile), I'd appreciate it.

Need A Mod To Unpause
http://phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=10170

The Russian player is not responding to messages and would probably be in CD if the game were unpaused. Can we get a mod to unpause it? Everyone else has voted.

Oldest Alliance
Found this on the BBC 'On this day...' feed:
1386: England and Portugal sign the Treaty of Windsor, the oldest alliance in Europe still in force.

Does anyone know of an older alliance? I ask because it says 'in Europe', which made me assume there must be an older one somewhere...

Currently logged on...?
I have seen a situation where there is a dot is next to someone on their country tab, but the message next to their name says they logged out 90 minutes before.
Is this evidence of a multi-accounter?
I wondered if the Dip server is reading the IP address of someone logged on under a different name when it allocates the tab dots?

Paused Game
The following game http://phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=10100 was paused a while ago (23rd April) because one of the players was ejected for having multiple accounts. Since that date three other players in the game have not logged on and have not unpaused the game - I suspect they may be the banned players multiple accounts ???? Any chance the game can be abandoned and I can get my points investment back?

When coming out of a pause...
Does the clock reset on the round, or does it pick up at the time when it was paused. For example, a game with 24-hour rounds is paused with four hours to go in a round. When unpaused, does the round have 24 or four hours left to play?

Blatent multi-account user named.
There is a guy in our game who has now admitted to making use of two account in the game (Russia & England) and is highly suspected by the other players of using a third (Austria) early on.
Sligoman (484 D)

His name is GermanFenton (0) so should be avoided. If you want to have a look at the confession go have a look at the global messages on http://phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=10502&msgCountry=Global
where he admits to also using GermanBoy(51), a newly created account. Hopefully the admins will kick his IP and that will be the end of him but everyone should be aware of him anyway.

Its idiot cheats like this that spoil the online games for everyone.

I dont know why there cant be a restriction on two players from the same subnet (ie. ISP) joining the same game unless its private? Perhaps an Admin or Developer could answer that one.
spyman (424 D(G))

Only players in the game can read the Global Chat. So we can't read his confession.
I would encourage you to form a grand alliance against him, destroy him, and then draw the game with the other alliance members. Your combined positions look strong enough to pull this off.
figlesquidge (2131 D)

I've banned the second account, but not yet the 'main' one. Yours is the only game in which he's cheated, and I was just wondering if you'd like a forced draw? As soon as I ban him another player can take over and would then probably be against the idea of drawing and loosing all their points!
Also, please would one of you inform him of this thread.
Sligoman (484 D)
10 May 09 UTC
This was his reply on the global thread when England did a VERY sus move after coming back from CD and joining with Russia without even talking to the other players....
******************************************************************
Autumn 1905: I am not cheating - my uncle was wanting to play the game and can't play very often so I took up his account for a while. Since I'm being ganged up on and since he would help me anyway, I thought I'd get myself an ally. If I wanted to cheat to win a game, I would join at the very beginning.
****************************************************************
We also suspected him of using Austria under the circumstances as that country would talk to no-one but consistently took a centre then gave it to the advancing Russian freely... not usual play you will agree!
Sligoman (484 D)

Can the admins kick the Russia out before declaring a draw so that he gains no benefit? If this is the case then I would be ok with calling it a draw.
figlesquidge (2131 D)
10 May 09 UTC
Yes we could, and this would be one suitable option.
I could ban Russia, pushing him CD, then could force-draw the game straight away before anyone else joined. If this is the view you agree to ingame then can a few of you let me know - I don't want to draw the game without definite agreement!
Sligoman (484 D)

I agree with this, and will check in with the others.

France and Germany have also agreed to the draw so could you go ahead and arrange this please. Kick Russia & Draw with the remaining three ie Italy, France & Germany.

Thanks for handling the problem admins.
@Sligoman, figlesquidge will likely want to see France and Germany post here, so you may want to ask them to do so.

The idea of not allowing players from the same subnet is preposterous as entire universities (like OSU and others) use the same subnet and are large enough (thousands of students) that you might be incriminating players who have never and will never meet. I mean a senior in PoliSci and a freshman plannign to major in engineering would never be in the same class and not liekly be in the same frat, yet you'd have them punished for campus proximity.
Draugnar (0 DX)

Same thing applies to large companies. GE Evendale (which makes jet engines) employs thousands of people in fields from machinists/mechanics to IT to Admin and Management to Engineering. Yet it has one subnet shared by all the computers there.

My own company subnet is out of Livonia Michigan because Valassis (a part owner of PEP, my employer) provides our internet access along with Red Plum, ADVO, and several other companies. All of them route through Livonia and share one subnet that gets subdivided into sub-subnets using some rather high end switches.

Then there are the people whose home ISPs are either the phone company or the cable company (like mine). Your saying someone whose external IP matces mine because they happen to be on Insight but live 20+ miles from me should cause both of us to be restricted? You really don't have aclue of what subnets and IPs are all about, do you?
figlesquidge (2131 D)
10 May 09 UTC
Hopefully that worked...
figlesquidge (2131 D)
10 May 09 UTC
Oh, and there's no danger of that happening Draug don't worry!
Sligoman (484 D)

All I'm suggesting is that people on the same subnet couldnt participate in the same public game, ( and yes, Draug, I do understand about subnets and IPs :-) Considering the many hundreds of people involved in online games, and the international nature of the internet, do you really consider it a huge restriction that you couldnt find six or seven people that didnt share a subnet.... that is preposterous :-) If you like, make it an optional setting when the game is initiated, then people from the same university or workplace could participate, but the risk of abuse in that game is present, and everyone knows it... fair enough. But for people like myself, who play online due to geographical difficulties of getting local players, it would be nice to know that it was a straight game.
Sligoman (484 D)

And thank you fidlesquidge for sorting this one out.

OK, geogrpahic location and IP addresses. I have offices in Boston, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Livonia, MI, Cincinnati, and LA all connected with T1s up to Livonia and all sharing the same subnet. <sarcasm> Now THAT's really geographically similar. </sarcasm> See how stupid that option is?

That justification is so ridiculous it is hilarious. Where is this comedian? He should join this thread and explain himself.

Why so hostile Draugnar ? Have I personally insulted you in some way ? Just because you work for a large organisation does not change the argument, that the choice of allowing or dis-allowing same subnet IPs would benefit a lot of people. If you had a problem with it, simply start a game with the option allowed. Surely not a problem for one as obviously knowledgeable as yourself. Anyway, if you're at work should you really be playing online games ? Probably not :-)

This is a 12 hour phase game that has been paused for over a week. New Austria joins then hasn't been on since (three days). He would have CD'd two days ago. He is the only one left that hasn't voted to unpause. Please help.

The Bounce-Hold
if a unit bounces another unit out of a province and also has another unit supporting it to hold, does the support-hold go through? Or does it fail because the unit attempted to move?

Late night debate and I can't find any adjudicator articles about this.

We could use a mod to unpause a game. Our game was paused because of cheating. Everyone voted to unpause except for one person who has not been on the site in a week. If we could get it unpaused that would be great!!
