Java from phpdiplomacy?
In the past few days, I've noticed that whenever I go to any phpdiplomacy page, java starts to spring out of control on my machine. Does anyone have an idea of what is going on?

How to unpause if a player is AWOL?
In Kosciusko, two players have not unpaused. Neither were the player who requested a pause.
Both have (or had, last time I looked) one or more other games in which they were in Civil Disorder or had not made moves, so I'm assuming they may not be back.
1. How long should the game be left like this, given that neither of the players involved asked for an extended pause?
2. At what point can the game be forced to continue if a player never enters an unpause?

Hi all.
I am new to this site but not new to the game. I had to move recently (economy), so I lost my crew and was hoping to get a game (and a new crew). I was going to take over for one of the civil disorder countries in the current games, but they are all in really bad shape and I'm not quite sure how this point system works yet, so I figured I would try this method. Anyway, I guess I've rambled on long enough.

New Game - 101 buy-in - features ponies and expert post delivery!
http://www.phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=9936

The Pony Express always delivers, and so should this game. PPSC, 36 hour deadline which allows the busy people that we all are to miss a single day + sleep before/after in case of emergency like ponies rampaging through your house in a frenzy to deliver post messages. Join and enjoy!

The Silent Treatment
Hey, is it common to get the silent treatment from other players during a game? As in, no response to communications sent? Also, is it possible to anonymize the players in a game so that alliances are set up based on the game and not on who you know is playing?

Just a few questions from a new person.

Was that a freudian slip? Have you just admitted to being a multiaccounter ? :-p
Wow. I'm starting to think maybe Trim101 is Diplomat. What a dumb thread this is, and the maturity level of the thread smacks of Diplomat.
mapleleaf (0 DX)
04 Apr 09 UTC
uhhhh.....it's not trim101's thread.

Choose your battles more wisely, my friend.
TheGhostmaker (1545 D)
04 Apr 09 UTC
Damn... it went so far... I joined in very staggered times, argued with myself, became a mod in one of my accounts, working on it in another. I played some games against myself fairly, did enough work creating different persona's with different interests on the development forum, and the was just about to work the accounts together after my exams in the summer too. All that work ruined in one go. I best be honest, and just ban my second account with my first.
TheGhostmaker (1545 D)
04 Apr 09 UTC
(figle, please don't ban me for impersonating a mod, or for laughs either, or because I am attacking you in our game)
figlesquidge (2131 D)
04 Apr 09 UTC
Haha, you know full well that I would have banned you for laughs ages ago if I thought I could get away with it :D
In fairness when I first read it I thought he was just trying to sign me up to the list without signing himself up which is a good strategy.
----Now, on topic:
1. Oppose
2. Oppose
3. Agree
4. Oppose
Just because he's going stop playing doesn't mean he should leave the site. I'm going to stop playing after these games (busy summer workload, including my dev commitment here), but I would hope I don't have to leave the forum because of it. He should act sensibly like the majority yes, but not be thrown out.

Ironically, by typing point 3, you violated it.

But really, I thought we had finished making pointless petitions. I'll talk to whoever I want, whether that includes diplomat or not.
trip (696 D(B))

figs, his intent is to harass (according to his profile). If he has time to do that, then any excuse he gives for not playing is as bogus as his PhD.

back to playing dip for me...
TheGhostmaker (1545 D)

I was going to slowly sign up all the mods so that if he does get banned they have to, in order to keep faith (among diplomacy players, why do you think it took so long to get some trusted mods in the first place?) they'd have to get somebody else to announce it.

DJ, its a little difficult for me to take criticism about maturity from someone who's name translates to "yearning for dingleberries"
And being mature all the time would be excrusiatingly boring
;-)
DipperDon (6457 D)

A petition is when the signers ask for some authority to make or change a procedure or ruling. People adding their names and agreeing to do something would make this a pledge, not a petition. And a silly pledge, at that.

Quick question for mods:
Is targetting one individual for ridicule/personal attacks against the rules? Cause I'm kinda tired of this whole diplomat vs others bickering... It's noise that is clogging up the forum...
figlesquidge (2131 D)
06 Apr 09 UTC
The forum has always been pretty well left to control itself, with interference only in major cases - extreme spamming is the only case I can recall, although obviously hate-speech etc would probably also lead to action being taken.
