To Kestas or Any of the Mods Who Can Help:
I would like to know if it's possible to remove the annoying underscore from the middle of my name and replacing it with a space. I put it there as a placeholder under the assumption that user names had to be all one word when I created this account. I have since found out that this is not the case. Any chance that one of you gallant folks can help :)?

Why was the (English) army in Belgium destroyed?
http://phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=6848

The little star in Belgium means that the army was destroyed, right? How come? Couldn't it have retreated to Holland or Picardy?

Hey Kestas! (or other admins)
I posted about this a bit ago, but I'm switching emails, so I'm also closing down this account. I've now finished all my games. So, is there a way to transfer my points to a another account I've set up with the correct email? If so, that's great. If not, no big deal, I just would like to play against more advanced players sooner... Thanks!

Deleting an army/fleet
Is it possible to move your own army into your own territory with a support to destroy a fleet that you don't want?
Say, Fleet A is unwanted, so Army B supports Army C into Fleet A's territory.
Will Fleet A be destroyed or will nothing happen and this a dumb thought?

Dear Kestas: A solipsist's accusation
I suspect that I am the only real player on this site, and that every other user is a fabrication created by you. I suspect that you spend all your time attempting to fool me into believing that I am surrounded by real people all different all over the world. Furthermore, I suspect I know you in person. Respond to these accusations.

How did you discover Diplomacy?
I've always been a fan of board games, and thought Diplomacy sounded extremely intriguing, but never found an outlet to play it until a couple months ago here on php. How/when did everyone else start playing the game?

I was rummaging in a closet in the basement. Amid old coats and musty boots I came across a shelf full of really old cardboard boxes.

After dusting them off, I read the label of dried tape on one that said "war games"

I opened it and beheld a treasure of old games, one of which was diplomacy.

Had to look the rules up on wikipedia though, they weren't with the game.

So now I like to look inside old trunks in case there are more hidden treasures to find!

Haha "Rumania", old habits die hard.

I've probably said this about 8 times now in different threads but I played a F2F game in high school during a history class and needing more I turned to the internet where I found this site in Oct 2006.

The grade 5-6 teacher(we were in grade 7) drew a big game map on bristol board and had copies of the official game map. He made the armies and fleets out of popsicle sticks that he coloured with magic markers. There was no internet. I never saw a game board until high school.

I don't know. The concept attracted my attention, though. Backstab! Hell yeah!

But I do know that I'm addicted to the game after playing it since ... July?
I had seen a movie in which there were an odd number of people all trying to come out alive by making alliances with one another and the betrayals were what decided the outcome. Then while looking for a good boardgame to play I found Diplomacy and read the Wikipedia article and thanks to that film I knew from day one I was going to like Diplomacy.

Edi:
I don't think I'm nearly good enough to compete in a ftf game set up by you, but I'm around Washington D.C. (not yet, anyway). So far I'd be more interested in persuading a handful of high-schoolers to have the patience for a game.

On the other hand, I've found that I really like the 24/hr + turn format, which allows me to walk away and participate in other activities. Like sleep, for instance.

Philcore:
Damnit. I haven't heard that song in ages, and now it's stuck in my head.

We used to have "activities" on every third Friday in High School. There were heaps of options ranging from scuba diving to music appreciation. One semester I picked strategy games. The games on offer included Risk, Axis and Allies and Diplomacy. I played Diplomacy and loved it. Unfortunately after school I could never find anyone interested in playing. Years later I bought a copy of the game, but it was the same story no-one want to play. So it sat the game remained unopened for over eight years until I found this the facebook version of this site. Now the board is permanently set-up next to my computer, but I have yet to play a single face-to-face game with it.
Before getting back into Diplomacy I was into RTS games like Age of Empires, Rise of Nations and Company of Heroes - not any more though. Diplomacy is my game now.

I think it's one of those songs that's clearly crap but one likes it anyway. A bit like the Cillit Bang remix.

Lets say I am moving from Holland to Kiel, which is occupied. Berlin is support moving to Kiel, and Prussia is support holding on Berlin. IF Berlin is attacked by one army, is support cut even though Prussia is support holding on it?
