Assassin may be, in fact, the only game that
1) takes longer
2) creates more paranoia
Than Diplomacy.

email updates

It would be nice if you could receive an email as soon as a move is made.
Ideally this email would include an updated world map.

Support question

Hi kestas,
Can a unit which is under attack cut support to a completely different unit(not involved in the attack) by attacking it.
Eg, In game http://phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=6244
Sevastopol is succesfully attacked by Armenia and Black Sea, however this Sevas's attack on Moscow prevented Moscow from Supporting hold at Warsaw, is this correct ?

I don't THINK it was a misorder, but if you look at the Large View, Austria (me) had Rumania Support Move from Serbia to Constantinople. This Support (and thus, the move) failed for no apparent reason. To quote one player I was talking to, this "makes no sense whatsoever." Any ideas?

two powers that have been allied all game and have really made no mistakes both missed the latest move.

yippee, just got fibre optic approval for my apartment. goodbye adsl and 2 Mbps and hello fibre optic 20 mbps! all for about $70 a month (but save $25 by canceling my landline and getting a fibre optic phone)

how about you guys? what speeds/prices does one get around the world? Japan is pretty good i think. the best thing is it is an all you can eat kinda deal, hello bit torrent:)

A couple of years ago I was living in France:
29 euros/month
Unlimited Internet 20mbps
Free landline calls in 40 countries
Free mobile calls in USA and Canada
Free cable tv (not all channels, though)
Free HardDisk-videorecorder (can't recall the English term for that stuff)
Free mobile-to-internet device (so if you are near any user of that providers and can pick up his WiFi signal, you will call for free on the internet)

It was awesome.

sweet. cant understand why everyone makes fun of the french. long holidays, great food, beautiful women who know how to dress and now cheap and fast Internet.
Maybe its jealousy. oh well anyway this thread is about Internet speeds.

I get 60GB/month, 12M/1M speed (due to distance from the exchange this is ~6M/0.7M in practice), costs ~90AUD/month which is ~60 USD/month

Aus internet has improved recently, but its still understandably behind being so remote

Yes, while I was living in Australia I found that OZ really sucks at connectivity, which took me by surprise, as they have basically been the inventors of distant learning, flying doctors, bush nurses and anything else that has to do with keeping remote areas connected with the rest of the world.

On the positive side, they have a law (or a proposed law, can't recall now that I am back in Europe) that says that satellite internet should not cost more than a DSL for those users who has no access to DSL (this is achieved by satellite subscriptions partially funded by the government)...

I'm very impressed with the internet here at McGill. It was $400 for 8 months of 40mb/s. Which is quite a bit faster than the internet I had at home, so I'm quite happy.

Australian internet is appalling. I'm on ADSL+2 which is supposed to 24mbits, but the fastest I have ever had it is 5mbits (approx 1.5km from the exchange), and it is usually a lot slower. I get 20 gig a month for $49 - which is cheap by Australian standards.
I have friends in Korea - apparently they great awesome speeds there.

Both US Political Parties Picked the Wrong Candidate for President

Hillary would make a better president than Obama; Romney would make a better president than McCain.

The Help is really incomplete

I thing the Help could include some more information, like that you can't move two ships onto one sea, like I tried in my absolute first Diplomacy turn here: http://phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=6415. You should also include that you only capture a country at the end of a Year and other important information. If you can't/ don't want to put this information on the Help Page please include at least some information.

CD status

I think the game is kicking people into CD status too early. In the game http://phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=6079 during the spring move Germany has 4 sc's and make his move. During the fall move he fails to submit orders and was reduced to 1 sc prior to retreats. Because he is at 1 sc and did not submit an order he was placed in CD status. This then caused the retreat to automatically be disbanded.
