What they told us basically boiled down to saying you can catch them when you're having sex, condoms offer protection, and you can't catch them from toilet seats. Quite why toilet seats were singled out I was never sure.

Basically we were told nothing useful in assessing risk. We had no idea what the odds of catching any particular std actually was, or how much wearing a condom changed things, or how the toilet seats felt about the whole business. It was pretty shite.

It's more like 30% these days. Independent voters keep growing in share.

I would knock molluscum contagiosum down a category, maybe even two. The bad thing is that it's contagious. The good thing is that it's mostly harmless, though unsightly. I'd certainly rather get MC than syphilis.

The one piece of practical advice I can offer from my own experiences is that the best way to rid oneself of "crabs" is to cut and then shave a considerable amount of body hair in the region of one's genitalia, combined with the application of an ointment. It's a cost effective treatment. The various "ointments" are often uncomfortable to use, and whilst they will kill the crabs, they don't kill crab eggs attached to pubic hairs...so new crabs will continue to hatch out. A thorough shave will remove the unhatched eggs, and significantly improve the effectiveness of an ointment or "spray on liquid" treatment. A victim may have to remove body hair on other parts of the body as well. But it's mainly pubic hair where eggs will be attached to individual hairs.

They do kill live crabs, but require constant re applications to kill new crabs that hatch from eggs attached to hairs. So the simplest way to get rid of the crabs is to remove pubic hair..and kill any existing crabs. Other things might be necessary as well.. Laundering bed sheets etc. I'm just suggesting that removing all pubic hair is a cheap way to significantly improve the effectiveness of any ointment or spray.

What about the Old Lady solution? If you sit starkers upon an ant hill, perhaps you could entice them to hunt your crabs?

Pubic lice , body lice and Head hair lice are 3 disticnt species. each has claw sizes that suit their own " envirinment. ie pubic lice caanot live in head hair and vice versa.

Body lice such as eyebrow lice are happy to hang out in said eyebrows ..and yes we ALL have then , body hair lice simular..

One STD that has not been mentioned, is Sexually Transmitted Debt .. Where one person by having a sexual relationship with another for a certain length of time suddenly finds themselves declared to have been in a de facto relationship, and that the other person has rights to share in their property and financial assets. Or blinded by the sexual relationship, they are manipulated and rashly make agreements that end up being financially punitive. This sometimes takes the form of marriage. The victims of such iniquitous practices can be women as well as men. I am always surprised at the reckless way in which some chaps are prepared to disseminate their semen and risk siring offspring with the most unsuitable and rapacious ladies. I've known several rather silly blighters who've come a cropper on that hurdle in the "steeplechase of life"..some repeatedly. Causing major problems when they do find the right partner.
