The Death of a Real Legend
Muhammad Ali, Greatest Heavyweight Boxer Ever, Civil Rights Activist, Draft Resistor, and America's Most Famous Muslim, dead at 74.

That might be, but I never heard of this guy.

You're joking, surely?
Octavious (2732 D)

He was to boxing what Pele was to football, WG Grace was to cricket, and Babe Ruth was to rounders.
steephie22 (182 D(S))
04 Jun 16 UTC
Yeah I don't know any of them.

Although Al Capone was called the Babe Ruth of gangsters or something like that in a documentary I saw earlier today, so I believe you.

Sorry, I just don't get sitting and watching sports. I just don't think you got the essence of sports if that's what you're doing.

But since he's a human, I'm sorry that he passed away.

Really steephie, you couldn't have Googled him or something? He was the Greatest and always will be.
steephie22 (182 D(S))
04 Jun 16 UTC
I feel like if I googled him, I would probably find out that he was the greatest heavyweight boxer ever, civil rights activist, draft resistor and America's most famous Muslim and that he died at 74.

I just thought it was funny that I knew YJ but not this guy. I guess it may have been a little inappropriate on hindsight. Usually these threads turn into 'Nelson Mandela was evil' etc., so I didn't think I would do any harm.

"Sorry, I just don't get sitting and watching sports."

I don't, either. But Muhammed Ali was far more important for what he did outside of the ring than what he did in it:

He had a lot of stories showing his excellent character and care for people in general. He is the epitome of what someone with celebrity status, star athlete or otherwise, can accomplish with their influence.

It doesn't even matter what he did outside of sports, or if you like sports, I don't get how someone living in a modern western society could literally have no idea who he was. I'm not accusing steephie of lying, but if someone put a gun to my head and I had to tell them the truth, I would say I think it's more likely steephie is chatting shit, rather than not knowing Ali. Same with Pele. (the cricket one gets a pass, sorry Octavious).

Not an accusation though.

That's fine. I wouldn't believe that everyone knows all these people who often have absolutely no influence on their lives (I understand that this person may be an exception for many people, but bear in mind that I live in The Netherlands) if I wouldn't see and hear it with my own eyes and ears. I can imagine that the opposite is hard to believe as well.

I try to only register the things that are relevant to me. I think not knowing who these guys are is a vital part of how I operate, in a sense. It's a base level of focus.

No need to apologise, SD. Outside of the civilised world one can't expect people to be aware of all the sporting greats. Babe Ruth is the only rounders player I've heard of aside from Randy Johnson, and the latter only sticks in the mind because his name is so hilarious :)

Using a convoy to make units trade places
The diplomacy rules allow units to trade places when a convoy is involved for one or both units. Does the our software recognize this or is there a bug that makes the units bounce?

Checkmarks and "Ready"
All the time, people claim to see who has marked themselves "Ready" in a game. The only thing that I can see is the checkmark next to powers, which, unless I'm mistaken, means that you have saved moves and won't NMR, but not that you're "Ready" and will process as soon as others all "Ready."

Is there something they see that I don't? Or is this just a broad misconception of what that indicates?
