Great example I/T
gameID=173452

I am not just showing this because I won, I am showing this because here we have an example of a I/T agreed upon in 1901 that worked out well for both parties (up until the eventual and nessecary stab and solo)

Sucks dealing with NMRs already. I do not envy you, organizing this tournament. Thanks for all your work, Valis.

"Ill be an alternate if you need. im on here all the time."

is it gauche by now to joke about thinking brainbomb was leaving, or...

By the way, if center counts are decided only during build phase, what happens if someone wins before retreats due to The Bug Which Must Not Be Named? I guess that's kind of a hard limit on the rule, unfortunately.

I must say, I was expecting a lot of messages. Instead, this is one of the quietest game I've played.

Not naming names, but part of the whole point is that there will be quite a few, er, casuals. I suggest those feeling very competitive to keep in mind that there will be a wide range of skill and effort among the tournament player body as a whole.
I just reread the rules again (for he 3rd time) and noticed that in 4.3, it says;
"If there is not a multiple of 7 Players registered for a round, alternates and/or the TD will be called in, and then Players may be asked to play multiple boards"
So, if I'm reading that right, alternates might play several boards in a round, if there aren't enough players?
Valis2501 (2850 D(G))
22 Jan 16 UTC
Players/Alternates, even the TD can if we're desperate but its a situation I rather avoid. Fortunately most of the alternates stepped up, but we were still one short, and Yoyoyozo was willing to play two boards, so he is playing on both board 5 and board 6. He will receive the highest of his two scores.

There really shouldn't ever be more than 1 person, 2 in a super rare case, doing that though, because if we are more than 2 people short of an entire board the 5 or so alternates can just not play that round.

Getting exact multiples of 7 can be very tricky :/

I admit it. I'm a casual player. I have always been a casual player. My mother and father were casual players.

Gotcha. I actually prefer rambling to short answers. That's why people tell me I talk too much in FP games.

Thanks brainbomb, but I recently received a most pleasant offer from someone not already in the tournament to be an alternate. Also there's two more rounds, everyone will get plenty of chances to play.

(To be fair, it's really hard to diplomatically step in when the last player was absent from basically the beginning.)

Huh, Yoyoyozo's 2 games both began with key lepanto moves in Spring, 1901. And he was/is a participant in both.
Valis2501 (2850 D(G))
22 Jan 16 UTC
Well, the thing about key lepantos is that, *especially* without access to press, you really never know if that's what's going on. Let's just see and watch :)

Please help me set up my first FtF game with friends
Hi mods, I'd like to use the site to play a FtF game with a group of friends. Any advice on how I should proceed? Not getting banned as a multi during/after the game is strongly preferred.
Also, if anyone has any experience playing FtF with all players entering orders on their phones/tablets and/or with players who never played Diplomacy before, please let me know how it went and what I should expect. Thanks!

Civil Disorder - How many un-sumitted orders until Civil Disorder
I'm currently playing a 20-hour/phase game in which I've seen two players not submit orders for over 5 seasons as well as the retreats and disbands. Really slows the game if the player has left the game. When does Civil Disorder take over and moves are made automatically?

The United States have gone completely mad.
Hey guys, it's redhouse, it's been a while.
Just so you know: the US have gone completely mad. If you have Donald "bleeding from wherever" Trump heading the major right wing race and Mitch "Constitution? What's a constitution?" McConnell heading the senate, something is wrong.
Very, very, very wrong.
