What I've Been Saying About Gaza:
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/israel-iron-dome-could-prolong-195600244.html Main quote inside, but essentially--the Iron Dome, which has (thankfully) stopped hundreds of rocket attacks in just a few days now, has taken all pressure off Netanyahu to negotiate, while Hamas arguably stands to gain more from prolonging the conflict--ie, shooting rockets knowing they'll be intercepted and reprisals will come--than by making peace. So, settle in, boys and girls...

Well, now you're changing your story Putin...before you said there was no offer, now it's an offer that's a cover for something (which, come on, you play DIPLOMACY...what offer DOESN'T come with strings attached?)

Seems to me H.H might well have been right about you--

"It's quite clear that the Sisi government is in league with Israel to destroy the Palestinians."

CONSPIRACY THEORY HO!

See, most people would reserve the term "quite clear" for when they're citing actual evidence of something, rather than just throwing it out...

"Egypt is hoping Israel will clear out the Gaza Strip to help them with attacks on Egyptian police and military."

And you make the leap from "Egypt wants help with people that are attacking their own people" to "Egypt wants Israel to commit mass genocide and kill ALL people of that group, regardless of whether they're harming Egyptians or not, because Egypt and Israel are Conspiracy Theory-Fueled States of PURE EVIL."

Which is an argument that works perfectly well if you already think both governments are one-dimensional cartoonish genocidal maniacs (no offense to our actual Maniac here, Maniacs DO have feelings, after all.)

Buuuuuuut for those of us who haven't already indicted these groups in our heads--that is, those of us who prefer rational thought and, you know, cited EVIDENCE when someone claims that something as heinous as that is "quite clear--that sort of simplistic, childish, naive and frankly intelligence-insulting (and just plain insulting) argument holds about as much sway as my saying that Vladimir Putin wanted the Winter Olympics in Russia so badly because despite his horrific anti-LGBT laws he himself is secretly gay and wanted to get in on some two man luge action...

I mean, his vitriol against that group is really just because he's extremely closeted and feels the need to be a Macho, Macho Man.

What? Don't believe me? Demand sources, proof, anything more than an off the cuff comment that offers little in the way of substance and is pulled directly from my ass?

Puh-lease...can't you see? It's all QUITE CLEAR! God, people...

Don't you ALL know?

All Israelis and Jews are tied into a massive New World Order Conspiracy, the British Queen's a Lizardperson, Obama is a Kenyan Jewish Communist Fascist Socialist Muslim who likes to dance ballet, JFK was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald, the Mafia, the FBI, and Marilyn Monroe's former beauty consultant, 9/11 was an inside job pulled off by Bush to make us go after oil and also all buy commemorative 9/11 MLB baseball caps, the Moon Landing Was a Hoax and STILL somehow didn't win the Daytime Emmy for Best Original Comedy, the plays of "William Shakespeare" were really all written by a time-traveling David Tennant, and, of course, Vladimir Putin was on a lost episode of "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy!"

GOD, YOU FUCKING SHEEPLE...IT'S ALL *QUITE CLEAR!*

No, I did not change my story. At the time (late Monday), Hamas's military wing had not been presented with a formal offer. Hamas has been promised these kinds of promises in the past, only to be reneged later. For instance the 2012 agreement.

How much of a leap is it to conclude that Egypt wants an affiliate of a group they have been executing en masse (to your thunderous democratic/humanitarian/liberal applause I'm sure) to suffer maximum damage by Israel, and that this 'ceasefire' which does not return to the 2012 agreement, just provides Israel ammunition to escalate, knowing full well Hamas could not accept since it does nothing to lift the siege on Gaza.

Without returning to the 2012 agreement, there isn't going to be a ceasefire.

Putin33 (111 D)
16 Jul 14 UTC
Also, people who constantly rant about how Israel is "surrounded by hostile powers bent on its destruction" sound far more conspiratorial than anything I wrote.

"How much of a leap is it to conclude that Egypt wants an affiliate of a group they have been executing en masse (to your thunderous democratic/humanitarian/liberal applause I'm sure)"

That's already a leap since I have said since the beginning I didn't want that, and you simply choose to ignore that (or else you have a poorer power for retention than krellin, and that's saying something.)

But go on...

"to suffer maximum damage by Israel, and that this 'ceasefire' which does not return to the 2012 agreement, just provides Israel ammunition to escalate, knowing full well Hamas could not accept since it does nothing to lift the siege on Gaza."

How much of a leap? Without a shred of evidence provided to corroborate that fact and that being just your own personal surmising and opinion?''

I'd say it's as much of a leap as "Trust me, Crimea...nobody's EVER going to annex you, never ever ever. Especially Russia." About as plausible and likely to be true, too.

"Also, people who constantly rant about how Israel is "surrounded by hostile powers bent on its destruction" sound far more conspiratorial than anything I wrote."]

You mean other than the nearly-70 years' worth of experience provided by continuous wars, states such as Iran making declarations against Israel, organizations such as Hezbollah (originating from Iran's area) and Hamas noting their intentions to destroy Israel, the ISIS or ISIL or whatever else they wish to be called having no love for Israel, the Muslim Brotherhood...those rocket attacks from Lebanon from sympathizers of Hamas...

NAH! Nobody's EVER out to destroy Israel...and they're certainly not surrounded...they just have people who hate and wish to destroy them to the North, South, East and West is all!

But hey, who needs basic geography and history when you have blanket statements backed up by...wait for it...NO CITED EVIDENCE!

Hooray! Nobody's out to get Israel...I guess we can declare peace in that part of the Middle East right now, HOOOOORAAAAYYYY!!!!!

Oh. Wait......

^ACTUALLY...THAT'S NOT SHAKESPEARE! :D

It's Sir Walter Scot...are you going to throw Ivanhoe at me next?

(For the record, for a Shakespeare quote against me in this situation, "Blood will have blood" would have been far more better, if overplayed...from that same play, "Macbeth," I'd counter with "If you can look into the seeds of time, And say which grain will grow and which will not, Speak then to me, who neither beg nor fear
Your favours nor your hate." Can YOU tell the future, my dear Witch Nigee? Can YOU look into the Seeds of Time and pluck out the correct ending to this bloody saga? Probably not, if you can't even pick out an authentic Shakespeare quote...you should know better than that--for all my bullshit here, the one thing I *DO* know Shakespeare, come on, man!)

Ivanhoe, eh?

“God of Jacob! it is the meeting of two fierce tides - the conflict of two oceans moved by adverse winds!”
― Walter Scott, Ivanhoe

“but he had only received that sort of answer usually given by those who are more obstinate in following their own course, than strong in justifying it.”
― Walter Scott, Ivanhoe

But not applying in this case:

“He that does good, having the unlimited power to do evil, deserves praise not only for the good which he performs, but for the evil which he forbears.”
― Walter Scott, Ivanhoe

Did you read this part?

"The suspension of hostilities, brokered by the UN and starting at 10am on Thursday, came after four Palestinian children died in an Israeli strike on a Gaza beach and follows an earlier Egyptian-brokered ceasefire that was observed only by Israel."

Nice group, that Israel, real nice, I can see why you support them.
obiwanobiwan (248 D)
17 Jul 14 UTC
Yeah, I read that...that ONLY ISRAEL observed the ceasefire, and not your beloved Hamas.

I'm sorry those children died on that beach, but children have been dying this whole time, how is that different?
obiwanobiwan (248 D)
17 Jul 14 UTC
And why are you upset?

I thought you WANTED conquest! You should be cheering the IDF on, by your logic, hoping they "force everyone under the Star of David."

Why do you have problem with an invasion if you advocate conquest?
krellin (80 DX)
17 Jul 14 UTC
Obi - ask Putin why Isreal shouldn't invade Gaza and just end this. After all, Putin is the one that says CONQUEST ends violence. He posted that just today -- so clearly he supports the IDF conducting a full military invasion of Gaza -- unless he is a liar and a hypocrite.

Oh....yeah....there is that...

Did that heartless c*** Obi really mean what he said here?

"I'm sorry those children died on that beach, but children have been dying this whole time, how is that different?"

I bet Jews everwhere are proud of the shit you speak, what a great advert you are for Judaism you ignorant big-mouthed arsehole of a person.
For one moment just for the sake of humanity forget these murdered kids are poor Palestinians killed by your mates in the IDF; just remove your blinkers and see 4 young children playing one moment and then blown to pieces by a bomb that targeted them, the fact that lots of other young children have died in similar fashion in know way diminishes the severity of this crime, it just adds to it and proves that the on-going military campaign is no accident, nobody will be brought to justice for this barbaric heinous crime, I hope the pilot that shot that bomb rots in hell, I wonder if he will be one of your mates down there as well you heartless bastard.

what is the average age of webdiplomacy players?
Is there a statistic? I want to know. In a game I felt I was playing with the stubbornness of a child. He/she wanted ALL his way. All the negotiation was "this is mine mine mine". He/she couldn't see the repercussions of a bad decision because he/she wanted the gratification of now.

Seriously, knowing the age of a person before starting a game or a negotiation can help a lot. Psychological speaking.

BNP Paribas extorted by US government for $9 billion fine
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this.

US crushed French bank even though it violated no international, or bilateral law, simply because trade is done in dollars. This is abuse of power and signifies that the US no longer upholds a free trade system. It will use the fact that trade is done in dollars to destroy people even if they broke no law.
