Does this game have to be cancelled?
Hi. I'm currently in this game in which we had 3 people get banned. There haven't been any moves made yet and it is still in spring 1901. So if we were able to fill the positions, 1 of which has been filled already, would we be allowed to continue? Here's a link to the game.

Need a replacement Texas in Full Press Anon WTA, low stakes game.
Texas was banned, and without a replacement it's going to be a very one-sided game.

The Favorite Author Tournament: The Round of 32
And here we go, into Round 2, with Shakespeare being out due to his losing again...because he's the master of tragedy, of course! ;) Will there be literary superstars? Yes! Will there be a glut of sci fi and fantasy writers? Yes! Will Thucy continue push a #ThoreauLaozi2016 platform (Change We Can Believe In...except change is just a natural process and you must learn to accept it like the good little Transcendentalist that you are!) YES! ;) 32 authors, 1 goal...whatever that is.

In Which I Was Voted MVP By Accolade Of My Peers

Doyle: 7
Vergil: 7

Going right down to the wire...speaking of...

THE LA KINGS JUST WON'T *DIE!* :O

Game 7 win over the Sharks after they win 4 straight to come back from down 3-0 in the series!
Game 7 win over the Ducks after the two teams go back and forth in a great series!
Game 7 win over the Blackhawks after they play an even BETTER series!

And they picked the perfect year for it, with the Lakers shit and the Dodgers blacked out to most of the LA area because of their crap new network that isn't carried on a lot of providers...so suddenly, it's aaaaaalllllll about the goddamn Kings here!

Are they just the Vergil of the NHL? :p
yeah but did you win the game thucy?

no?

neither will doyle

time for your anti-vergil dreams to boil
ghug (5068 D(B))

Alright, we need a Vergil vote, folks.

Obi, are you really going to vote with this childish bloc just because you're mad about other results? Let Latin's Shakespeare forge on in his name.
Fasces349 (0 DX)
02 Jun 14 UTC
I'm tempted to vote Doyle just to see ghugs reaction...

I wont, since I'm pulling for Vergil to win but it is tempting.
obiwanobiwan (248 D)
02 Jun 14 UTC
I'm voting independently of the bloc, ghug...Byron is one thing, but even if Vergil outclasses him in most respects, I have to take Doyle...Sherlock Holmes is too much of a personal inspiration (one I fail spectacularly to match.) ;)

And if Shakespeare can get KO'd by the writer of a book about a boy wizard and Jane Austen lost out to a sci-fi writer (albeit arguably the greatest and most poignant of all-time)...Vergil can lose to the creator of the greatest detective of all-time.

Or he might just pull it out again, who knows. :p

Tied 7-7, next vote wins and finishes off the Round of 32.
Vergil

02 Jun 14 UTC
OK, so, Vergil ekes one out AGAIN...he really is the LA Kings of this tournament, winning AGAIN in a close overtime match, lol!

So that wraps up the Round of 32...so look for the new Sweet 16 thread (and make your jokes, lol.)
it's still tied

Indeed it is, unless we count Thucy's post as a vote for Vergil, which I think we should do given how stupid this is.
semck83 (229 D(B))
02 Jun 14 UTC
Early on, in the first round of voting, we disqualified a vote from somebody who made clear that he was not actually voting for the author that he considered best. I would suggest that this precedent would be perfectly appropriate again. This is the favorite author tournament. One may vote for the author one considers better, or for the author one prefers for whichever reasons. But if one is self-admittedly acting in bad faith, I can't think of a single reason the vote has any relevancy to the process or should be counted.
semck83 (229 D(B))
02 Jun 14 UTC
I hereby move that the following votes be disqualified.

For Doyle: Thucydides, Fishstudios.

For Vergil: semck83.
Chaqa (3971 D(B))
02 Jun 14 UTC
Obi, Eden already voted. This ain't over yet
obiwanobiwan (248 D)
02 Jun 14 UTC
Well, if we do count Thucy's, it's over...

And if we don't but toss out votes the way semck argues, that still leaves Vergil one ahead...?

The Last Man in Europe...Or, Rather, China
http://news.yahoo.com/25-years-tiananmen-barely-known-china-youth-064659528.html That's honestly very depressing...It was 1989...but its treatment is not too far from "1984." And THIS is why I have such a hard time sympathizing with those shouting "Wake the Fuck Up," as if disagreement over America's future was the equivalent to being asleep at the wheel. Neither Bush nor Obama were the tyrants the Michael Moores and Glenn Becks call them out to be...THIS is The Party incarnate...

Lil' bit of French
I want to know how to say this in French:
"(I would like to reserve the spot) in the period from 16 July to 6 August."
That might not even be a proper English sentence, but you probably get what I mean. I just need to make clear in which period, and I don't know how.
Monday morning I'm handing in a letter in which I need that sentence, so there's no rush.

I don't see anyone else posting about Maya Angelou, but similarly to those few gifted people like her, her brilliance shone even in her final hours. A few of her final words, more of which are going to be broadcasted at baseball's Civil Rights Game in Houston today in her memory:

Synesthesia
I have always known that I perceive letters and numbers to have colors, but only just recently have I discovered that this condition has a name - Synesthesia. I'm curious as to whether anyone else on webDip thinks the letter K looks green or the letter A looks red...

Thoughts?
