Japan.. How do we perceive them?
Hey guys, lets talk about Japan.
What are your thoughts on Japanese authorities allowing themselves to keep shrines for the old imperialist Generals in honor of their 'heroism'?
If you don't know what 'heroism' they have displayed in the past, than please I believe that we all have the right to know, and we can start this thread with those information.

I Hate To Ask Another Religious Question, But...
...this one won't STOP, because so many of teh friends I know won't stop. I'm NOT questioning anyone's beliefs, I'm just curious as to the reason why some religious people--and I'll admit this is mainly Christians I mean here, but that's just from my own personal experience, so if this is not you, don't take offense--seem to thank Jesus or Gor for EVERYTHING...even when it's clearly something THEY did (like do well on a test...unless God REALLY CARES if you got that A+, why thank him?)

Can we program a variant where a single player can play all seven powers?
I was wondering if it is possible to create a variant or a type of game where a single player could control all seven countries to test out certain strategies or to replay some games that were played elsewhere (not on wedip)?
No points/stat/Ghostrating will be used or rewarded of course.

There have been so many serious and argumentative threads lately, so I figured I'd lighten the mood. I remember a thread a while back that I enjoyed where people all shared jokes. I thought I'd make a new one rather than find the old one, (it was nearly a year ago). So share your favourite jokes, and laugh at everyone elses (or not I suppose, if they're not very good).

Would growing up in Africa make it sound more fucked up?

South Africa or Africa?

Also, no, I don't see how you can justify being a supremacist simply by growing up in Africa.
Octavious (2701 D)
09 Jun 11 UTC
I've been trying to get my head around this one. If you happen to live in a part of Africa where there is a high degree of poverty, and you happen to be in a relatively well off white family, then the vast majority of black people you will see are likely to be poorly educated and hostile against you (Especially if the local politicians have been going heavy on an anti-white card as in Zimbabwe). If you add a racist family to the mix as well, then most of the people you love and trust will have told you the other races are inferior.

In those conditions I think it'd be pretty damned hard not to be a supremacist.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
09 Jun 11 UTC
@Octavious

Yes, that's a good point. But, at the end of the day, he just needs to get over it.
ashleygirl (1131 D)
09 Jun 11 UTC
Make sense, I have always felt that racism is something that is taught within the family structure. You do not choose to be a racist, you are raised as one.
Putin33 (111 D)
09 Jun 11 UTC
I don't which is worse. Fasces or the apologists making excuses for him.

Octavious (2701 D)
09 Jun 11 UTC
@ Putin

If you do not understand a problem you give up any hope of finding a solution. I'm surprised to see you make such a short-sighted comment.
Fasces349 (0 DX)
09 Jun 11 UTC
Octavious got it. Points for him.

@abgemacht: I moved back to Canada when I was 10. I stopped being a supremacist when I was 12. I am 4 years over it, did you not read the beginning of this page? (well previous one now)
ashleygirl (1131 D)
09 Jun 11 UTC
Please Putin, don't get me wrong, I am not making excuses for him. I just can't get over his views at his age. He is still a child for crying out loud. It's sad.

"Please Putin, don't get me wrong, I am not making excuses for him. I just can't get over his views at his age. He is still a child for crying out loud. It's sad."
I am no longer pro-extermination. still a little racist in my belief that there is reason behind why Caucasians and Asians score higher on IQ tests and are on average more successful. However I also acknowledge that there are some advantages and disadvantages in all the races so we are pretty much equal and we evolved based on the environment around us.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
09 Jun 11 UTC
@Facses

I read this:

" that Caucasians aren't completely the superior race"

Doesn't sound like you're over it to me.

we had this racist debate here back in December...
Why didn't you complain back then?
Putin33 (111 D)
09 Jun 11 UTC
I doubt the problem has anything to do with Fasces living in Kenya until he was 9 or whatever. It's simply a matter of misguided and deranged self-exploration/attention-seeking. Fasces claims to have initiated his "fascist" phase after watching some Japanese cartoon.

This isn't 1960. Kenya isn't a hotbed of anti-colonial/anti-European sentiment (neither is Zimbabwe, despite the best efforts to portray white farmers as being the victims of some kind of racial pogrom). Parents aren't always to blame for the silliness of their offspring.
ashleygirl (1131 D)
09 Jun 11 UTC
That must have been one sick cartoon.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
09 Jun 11 UTC
@Fasces

Do you know that I didn't?

And, I don't spend all of my time on this forum, nor do I have time to have a fight in every thread.
Fasces349 (0 DX)

"I doubt the problem has anything to do with Fasces living in Kenya until he was 9 or whatever"
Tanzania (country on the southern border to Kenya) until I was 10 :P
not sure how you were just off on both of those.

and putin your bending the facts. What got me interested in fascism was a cartoon. However research and political debates following decided my political views. I was 11 at the time.

I was racist back in Africa, I lived in a huge couple acre property with a 12,000 foot house and had quite a number of servants (all of which were black), anything I wanted they would give to me.

Also I did witness a gang war (well, kinda, I was inside in bed), when some gang members tried to break into our house, but security fought them off.

Before being fascist I was more of a caste I guess, given that most of our traits are inherited, I thought jobs should be to, makes it easier...

Good game. I hope that later in life, you have the decency to be deeply ashamed.

I WAS an entitled, racist prick.

Invictus (240 D)

"either is Zimbabwe, despite the best efforts to portray white farmers as being the victims of some kind of racial pogrom"

Jesus, Putin33. Even Bobby Mugabe won't get a condemnation from you? He's driven what was once one of the bright spots of Africa into near oblivion. But his party still calls its leadership a Politburo, so it must be right...

"I hope that later in life, you have the decency to be deeply ashamed."

Well said, Jack Klein. That cannot be improved on.
Octavious (2701 D)
10 Jun 11 UTC
People are being bloody harsh here. From what I understand Fasces was deeply racist and now he is not. This is a good thing, no? A few racist instincts may still linger, but he's only human after all.

The big danger is this world is not people like Fasces. It's the people who are racist and proud of it, but keep quiet about it. The people who know what to say to appear normal most of the time, but suddenly crawl out of the woodwork to pour hate on the foreigner when times are hard.

Fasces is not the problem. Quite the reverse... And I for one salute his honesty.
Draugnar (0 DX)
10 Jun 11 UTC
So you're a somewhat rich, somewhat racist prick. :-)
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
10 Jun 11 UTC
@Oct

To some degree, I do agree with you; however:

1) It's unclear if he actually does feel ashamed of his racist past, and
2) It's unclear how racist he really still is.
