Stalemate Draw only game
Are their 6 players who'd be interested in playing a full press game with the pre-agreement that a draw can only be applied when the board is in a stalemate position. Period. I know there are many times when to go for a win and not a draw will get you killed by the other players but if all players have no other choice, then it would take the end game to an entirely different level. I thought it might be fun and it would be interesting to see how it plays out. Anyone interested?

This is a special game I already sent you all the rules everyone agreed to by signing up. It needs a pause in the next 5 hours and Ursa sent you an email to that effect. One player hasn't paused in violation of the agreed upon rules, so please pause it for us before the turn runs and the game is altered by an NMR.

You have one thug who is up for election making an appointment for war to show off his new plaything with another thug seeking to consolidate his power among his people by using them as cannon fodder. Two thugs exalt in the killing of civilians as pawns cheer for or against either side like spectators at a sporting event. Its beyond disgusting and its beyond depressing.

@Jamiet

"Stop using SO MANY CAPS, you look like Krettin."

HEY no FAIR I did THE CAPS thing FIRST. :p

"You call the PLO a more reasonable group, and they're certainly more moderate. But you need to remember that Hamas was democratically elected, specifically because the people were tired of the PLO having spent decades achieving almost nothing. The PLO's moderate stance was seen by many palestinians as a failure to stand up to Israel enough."

I remember well that they were elected...it was a poor choice on their part, and everyone is now feeling the consequences.

If the PLO's stance was seen as a failure in getting a state, Hamas' stance now should--though likely won't--be seen as a callous, cold power grab by people willing to use the Palestinian population as a giant human shield.

I certainly hope a deal can be reached between Israel and the PLO, and get the West Bank, at least, settled.

They should really just nuke the Gaza strip. If Egypt goes to war, nuke the Aswan damn, that finishes Egypt. The remaining Arabs should be cowed, and Israel should threaten to nuke Mecca if there are any more terrorist actions. The Arabs get away with so much bad behavior, we killed millions of Japanese for less.

^?!?
nuke everything? human rights? civilians? u.n? arab league?
what u.s did in japan wasn't a crime against humanity?
we(israel)love life, not only our life is valuable,we respect differences, and try to be better than our enemies when it comes to be "human".
remember the holocaust,we will never do it to others.
Stressedlines (1559 D)
21 Nov 12 UTC
gordon, I doubt we killed millions of japanese for 'less' Japan suffered the least amount of Civillian causalties of WW2 other than the US.

As far as Nuking gaza, well I think that might be just a LITTLE too close to Tel Aviv and Israel for their taste, and why nuke them when you can play with your new bombs there and nobody will stop you from doing it.

People whine, but nothign else. Few nations have the military capacity to stop them anywhere in the world, so they will do as they always have. EXACTLY AS THEY WANT.

If they DID Nuke gaza, The world woudl STILL do nothing, other than whine.
Octavious (2701 D)
21 Nov 12 UTC
Aside from being generally evil, the practicalities of nuking the chaps next door (if you value your own eyebrows) makes the idea a tad problematic.

Yonni (136 D(S))
21 Nov 12 UTC
@octavius, I don't know if that's true. With a little knowledge of the wind patterns, I imagine its possible to fire a low yield nuke which could kill a whole buch of Palestinians and give cancer to many more.

Although, if we're using Japan as an example, carpet bombing might be more effective.

With the military Israel has, if they really wanted to murder Palestinians there'd be thousands dead in these 8 days of fighting and Gaza City would be wiped from the map.

The IDF has shown a decent amount of restraint given the circumstances, it's not THEIR fault Hamas cowardly and callously uses population centers as human shields to fire rockets on Israeli civilians while using the death of Palestinian citizens as political fuel.

Invictus (240 D)
21 Nov 12 UTC
Your own article exposes how dishonest you're being. The dummy deputy minister used the word "shoah," which while used regularly to describe the Holocaust also means disaster in Hebrew. Not having any Hebrew, I assume it's something like when you say your day was a trainwreck in English.

As my posts have shown, I'm no blanket apologist to Israel. But Sicarius is being ridiculous here. Par for the course, I know, but he needs to be called out on it. The off-handed remarks of a deputy minister does not a policy make, and even the wildest dreams of the craziest settlers is just to drive the Palestinians out of the land, not exterminate them in death camps. Israel does some pretty awful things in the territories, but they do not come close to equaling what happened in the Holocaust. You should be ashamed of yourself, Sicarius.
Zmaj (215 D(B))
21 Nov 12 UTC
Invictus, the article clearly says: "The use of the Hebrew word for holocaust, "shoah", tends to be used exclusively in Israel to describe the Nazi persecution of Jews."
Sicarius (673 D)
21 Nov 12 UTC
LOL I should be ashamed of myself? I'm not the one who said it.
I just think its telling that an official representative of israel would remark that genocide is not off the table. You're not a blanket apologist for israel, yet here you re attacking me for reporting the unpopular remarks of an israeli official. As I understand it shoah is used almost exclusively to refer to the holocaust, which is probably why this is even news at all.
Invictus (240 D)
21 Nov 12 UTC
I don't know what "tend to" means since I don't speak Hebrew and certainly aren;t Israeli. Someone who does can easily prove me wrong. And I never would say that it wasn't a horrible choice of words. But this deputy minister did not call for a second holocaust, this time against the Palestinians. That's word twisting in the most despicable way.
Invictus (240 D)
21 Nov 12 UTC
"I just think its telling that an official representative of israel would remark that genocide is not off the table."

You're a bad person, Sicarius. Nothing of the sort was said.
Zmaj (215 D(B))
21 Nov 12 UTC
"Not having any Hebrew, I assume it's something like when you say your day was a trainwreck in English." Now that's word twisting.
Yonni (136 D(S))
21 Nov 12 UTC
Unless taos or beskinelli (sp?) or one of the other Israelis on the site want to correct me, I'm going to say this - with my understanding of Hebrew - shoah means holocaust.
Invictus (240 D)
21 Nov 12 UTC
Again, I'm not defending his choice of words, merely that his words didn't mean what Sicarius is implying they do: that Israel wants to exterminate the population of Gaza.
Octavious (2701 D)
21 Nov 12 UTC
Well, as I would happily bet my house on Israel not going ahead with a second holocaust I think it's pretty safe to assume that he did not, in fact, mean he was considering starting one.

Come on, people, let's stay in the real world here.
Yonni (136 D(S))
21 Nov 12 UTC
There are some to do. And some with great power that do. Don't fucking naive about that.

Gilad Sharon (granted, he really only has clout from his last name), suggested that Gaza should be flattened like Japan. (Pointing out that Japan didn't surrender after Hiroshima, so Nagasaki was necessary)
