The OP said 6 to 10 things and there is a list of almost 50. I'm going to go back to the spirit of the thread and only propose 7 changes.
1) Use dice (virualy speaking, of course) to determine the outcome of a battle, rather than the number of armies for or against the move.
2) Allow the stacking of multiple Armies on each space.
3) Every space is an SC, that is you can build everywhere you have taken over
4) Play doesn't happen simultaneously, but rather rotates around the board, with each player making as many moves as they want until they chose to hold, or they run out of possible attacks
5) you can only attack if you have more than one unit, because you always have have one unit per space to hold that space in your possesion
6) every time you successsfully take at least one space from another player, you get a card, which can be collected to turn in for more units.
7) You win only when you conquer the entire board, not just half of it
On second thought, those changes are probably to risky.
