So I have this huge addition to my family coming in.....
Actually she was born a week ago, but in the spirit of the meme of the day I'd like to announce the birth of my daughter Keilah Rose. 9lbs 13.5oz, 20.25 inches long, cutest thing I've seen since, well, the last time we had a baby. I'm one seriously happy dad.

The Evil Rich
If it is so evil to be "rich" and we must punish them and take a higher % of their salary away from them because the "have too much"...and we love illegal aliens and want to give them amnesty, and they really have nothing...then shouldn't we *all* be giving up our wealth. Compared to *global* standards, we are *all* repulsively rich. Such Hypocrisy! DISCUSS.

Yes, of course false-positives could be a problem. Perhaps there could be an exemption for people who take certain medicine? There could also be a 3-strike policy (hell, a 10-strike policy), which means one false-positive wouldn't really matter.

"You have *no reason* to suspect welfare recipients of being high on drugs."

TSA has *no reason* to suspect me of being a terrorist, but they can make me their bitch any time I fly.
Putin33 (111 D)
08 Dec 12 UTC
Really, you're going to compare flying with disability benefits and food stamps? Because you absolutely need to fly to live, right? And receiving food stamps has what to do with public safety? How many terrorist plots have occurred due to people not getting drug tested for getting food stamps?

BTW, how are you going to transport people with no cars to their mandatory drug tests? Have the police pick them up? Just how much are you willing to humiliate people who need assistance to serve your self-righteous ego?

Why am I even asking, you think going through a security check at an airport is tyranny. Oh the oppression of an upper middle class professional. .
Putin33 (111 D)
08 Dec 12 UTC
"OK, so maybe it won't save money, but according to this, it really didn't do anything negative, either. So, why are you so upset?"

It was a pointless humiliation of people on benefits. And we don't know what happened to the people who failed the tests. But you don't care.

"I expect them to stop using drugs or get their money from somewhere else. State-sponsored drug addiction is not acceptable. "

It's a fucking mental illness and they don't have mommy and daddy to go for money. They have children to feed. Plus poverty plays a role in leading to drug addiction as a coping mechanism. But never you worry your precious little upper middle class head about that. We need to eradicate the scourge of 2.5% of welfare recipients being on drugs!

Putin. Stfu please. I grew up poor as fuck. I got no issues with poor. I got issues with shitstains living on the dole and nothing Isaid proves proves I am implying otherwise

You have a problem with anyone who tries to better themselves and that is not so difficult to prove

"It's a fucking mental illness and they don't have mommy and daddy to go for money."

I agree. Perhaps you should ask my opinion on the abysmal state of rehab centers.

"But never you worry your precious little upper middle class head about that."

lol Fuck off, you pretentious prick. Everyone who disagrees with you must have been born with a silver spoon in their mouth, eh?

"Putin, do you act like a righteous jackass because you think it helps your cause or because you can't help yourself? "

I act like a "jackass" to dickheads who want to make poverty a crime and who have their suburban professional head so stuck up their ass they can't see what from what. I don't give a fuck if you don't approve. You're a more genteel version of Krellin/Stressedlines/Draugnar. A Republican in liberal clothing. Go watch Fox News.

"Perhaps you should ask my opinion on the abysmal state of rehab centers."

Why, is it as wonderful as your opinion on poor people?

"Everyone who disagrees with you must have been born with a silver spoon in their mouth, eh? "

You brag about your employment history but don't want it brought up when you're advocating a draconian anti-poor policy on welfare recipients. So sorry to hurt your feelings.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

"Why, is it as wonderful as your opinion on poor people?"

Addiction is a serious illness. I have see first-hand how incompetent and horrible medical and law enforcement handle the situation. It's inexcusable.

"You brag about your employment history but don't want it brought up when you're advocating a draconian anti-poor policy on welfare recipients."

Mentioning that I had to take a drug test to get a job is now bragging?
Putin33 (111 D)
08 Dec 12 UTC
Because this is the only thread where you've mentioned your employment history.

" I have see first-hand how incompetent and horrible medical and law enforcement handle the situation."

Have you ever been to a rehab center or seen the detox process at a hospital? They're doing their best. Which is more than I can say about sanctimonious reactionaries like you who want to ruin their lives.

Putin, you are so full of shit. Do you shit in your hands and lick your fingers after, because you are bordering on Motard level tonight.

Here is your problem You hold more value for the poor person sitting on the sofa all day, not doing jackshit, collecting some government assistance than you do for a Doctor who earns over 100,000 For you, at least from everything you spew here, think lazy fuck has more value and deserves that free money from hard working doctor.

I hold value in a single mother, who works 40 hours at McDonalds, but still can not make ends meet. HER I am fine with helping, she is trying, and not able to, lazy fuck on sofa (maybe that is you?) is the one who contributes NOTHINg to society, and I do not want to help.

I am not against poverty, I am against lazy fucks sucking off society.
Draugnar (0 DX)

Hey SillyPutty.

First, I'm a computer geek. What heavy equipment or risk to work place safety is there when I work out of my house most of the time? Yet I had to take a drug test to get a job which means *gasp* getting money. No different.

Second, with regard to CEOsI have three words - Board of Directors

Finally, regarding poaitives due to prescriptions... Guess what? They screen for those and know what prescriptions the personnis on because the person brings in a record of them. So not to hard to deal with that
smcbride1983 (517 D)
08 Dec 12 UTC
The problem here is that we are comparing the government and a comp. And we are comparing a choice (working somewhere that drug tests) and requiring government assistance is not a choice (at least for the most part). It seems that it is tough for people to separate the two. As a perfect example, Chandler v. Miller. These are public officials, they have a job, one that is sensitive and powerful. Yet, the Supreme Court ruled 8-1 that it was a violation of the fourth amendment to perform these tests without suspicion.
smcbride1983 (517 D)
08 Dec 12 UTC
Companies have no responsibility to adhere to the fourth amendment.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
08 Dec 12 UTC
@smc

Yeah, I agree that they are different. However, if most jobs require a drug test, it really isn't much more of a choice, is it?
smcbride1983 (517 D)
08 Dec 12 UTC
Maybe not. But, my more important point is that the government has no right to invade privacy that way.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
08 Dec 12 UTC
Oh, that technically may very well be true. But just because a government can't do something doesn't mean they shouldn't be able to.
smcbride1983 (517 D)
08 Dec 12 UTC
ehhhh.... I mean, we are walking a fine line here. Maybe that is the case for somethings but I can not accept it for this. It is one of the 10 things our country required to get the constitution passed. Pretty important. I am not trying to imply that the SC is infallible. I think they really dropped the ball on Citizens United. But, on this one I am going to have to say they got it right. The government should not have the right to invade our privacy without any suspicion.
smcbride1983 (517 D)
08 Dec 12 UTC
And before someone tries to say it, I a not implying the founding fathers were trying to eliminate drug testing for welfare recipients.

Re: deserving poor v. non-deserving poor.

This division always baffles me. Now personally I've always been a supporter of food, and shelters for those we need them. Irregardless of any other conditions. And I tend to consider giving money to be foolish, and unhelpful. (So I'm going to throw the issues that come with money out the window for now.)

If we throw the issue of drugs et. al out the window by removing the fiscal element, and replace it with just food and shelters. These ideas still come up (People that aren't looking for a job aren't worthy etc. ) Why?!

Seriously, why does it matter!

What is it about laziness that so upsets people? Are you all secretly discontent with your own lives, such that you'd choose to live off the bare minimum if you didn't have to do no work?

Most people crave something interesting in their lives, a challenge. Be grateful that you seem to be one of those people. And be grateful that policies like that allow lives to go on.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
08 Dec 12 UTC
@smc

Yeah, I can see your point. It could be a slippery slope. I guess I'm looking at it from the perspective of you're not doing an addict any favors by paying for their meals while they spend everything else on drugs. But, it probably affects such a small amount of people it isn't worth the hassle.
smcbride1983 (517 D)
08 Dec 12 UTC
That is more where I am coming from. It isn't worth the hassle based on what is given up. I could be wrong, but I don't believe there are any suggested rehab plans, i.e. "If you fail your drug test you have to go to this state funded rehabilitation program to continue receiving benefits." I do not support this either, but it would at least make sense. If you are going to ferret out the addicts then you should provide them with assistance to overcome their addiction.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

It's worth pointing out the oldest people because they have their tips and tricks, but they also have some genetic distinction about them that makes them live for what seems like forever. I'd hate to have the title of oldest person. RIP nonetheless...
