I'm assuming LanGaidin's paradox is that there is no book if the author doesn't know how to write, but it's more a play on words thatn anything else.

What about a picture book? There are books which have very little text.

A paradox, because if I waited 6 days, it would be obvious that I'd post on the seventh, and therefore if I waited 5 days, I would have to do it on the sixth, and so on. However, because of that, you won't expect me to post on any of those days, and because of that, you will expect me to, etc.

I once heard about a deaf man who was saved from been killed by a falling tree because he caught a butterfly in his net 20 years previously. He was very poor and stole some food to feed his only child. The child went on to become Archduke Ferdinand's driver (the one who took a wrong turn shortly before the Archduke was shot).

In case you are wondering the original butterfly was released again some time later unharmed. But should we catch butterflies in our nets?

at zuzak, we all know that the flapping of a butterflies wings can cause a chain reaction that could lead to a tree falling many years later. As the guy was deaf he wouldn't have heard the tree falling, in fact if no one else was around maybe the tree didn't even make a sound!

You have to be nearly omniscient to be able to trace that effect though.

The only issue I have w/ the "if a tree falls in the forest....." question is that regardless if any living thing is around to hear them, sound waves are still generated.

Sure, every time we've observed a tree falling, its generated sound waves, but there's no way to prove that physics still work when we aren't looking.
