Minimum players in classic game
Hi all, my first time creating a game on my own. Is there a way to set the game to only 4 or 5 players for a private game? I didn't see any option and it shows "game will start when all 7 players have joined" now. Thanks for any help!!

Question concerning game rules (pms)
Hi there! I need a public and official reply by a MODERATOR.
If you play a match without anonymous players, but even without private chat (only team chat): Is it allowed to write the other players private messages in order to negotiate? In my opinion everbody see the names of the other players and everybody can write to the other players, so it is a fair system. It is a very important part of this game to negotiate, you know.
How are the official rules?

The Last Known World Game
I just finished up the second to last Known World game, http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=187834, on 36 hour phases, which we probably played a few years further than we might have for that honor. This leaves one 10-day phase game in a still relatively early state, http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=187877

@Zmaj. The intro to the Big Lebowski is the most beautiful introduction to a character I've ever seen. How could you claim that it's visual crap?
TrPrado (461 D)
01 May 17 UTC
"I'm introducing another category.

It is called: "Visual crap for people who think they're smart but actually lack basic film culture.""

Little pretentious, I'd say. Visual stylization is absolutely essential in film. Whether or not I like the films you mentioned, interesting visual color and effects is a big plus towards the film. If it falls flat on other merits, then whatever.

@WyattS14

My condolences. It might not be too late, though. It is my firm belief that a lack of visual culture can be eventually overcome by watching good films.
TrPrado (461 D)
01 May 17 UTC
3D isn't an interesting visual as it isn't universally in a film and films built around can easily look disgusting. Avatar is probably the only film that uses it effectively and it's just as stunning without it.

As a serious fan of the Mad Max series, I'd love the chance to vote for the original film, particularly with the original Australian voice track. BTW, Fury Road isn't a remake. It's part of a series of stories, a la 'The Legend of Max'. Think of the movies like this:

Mad Max - pure origin story. 'factual'.

The Road Warrior - Probably 'factual'. The first story of this guy 'Max' to spread across the Wasteland.

Beyond Thunderdoom - a mix of truth and tale. The kids he rescued started telling and retelling the story of Max, and adding and subtracting things, and making new stories up about the man who saved them, or their parents, or their grandparents.

Fury Road - pure legend, perhaps loosely based on events that might have 'actually' happened, but embellished from beginning to end.

My opinion, not my idea, but it helps me wrap my head around the inconsistencies in Max's world. See: Bruce Spence cast as the Autogyro Pilot in 'Road Warrior' and again as the Pilot in 'Beyond Thunderdome'.

thanks for clarification -- still the the original mad max and road warrior fillms about a thousand times better than the recent fury road

Ok i lie - i exaggerated a bit about how good fury road is ... the originals about a million times better, not a thousand times better, than the recent fury road ;-) heck - mad max wasn`t even the main character in fury road

Can't believe that a classic sci fi movie only beating Fury Road (cough - NOT mad max) by 1 vote...aye karumba.
It's a really good film

Bladerunners is exactly right. Fury Road is definitely the nadir of the franchise.

Regarding the previous films, while "Road Warrior" is great entertainment, "Mad Max" actually has a realistic chance to remain in the all-time Australian film pantheon.

It's by far the grittiest of them all, creating suspense and unease with such skill that its mastery can pass unnoticed by film retards such as Tom Bombadil.

"As for Scott Pilgrim - I really don't understand why you guys are voting for it. Its in the comedy group, and not good or funny. Big Trouble in Little China is a similar type of movie, but executes it so much better."

Because Edgar Wright is <3
TrPrado (461 D)
02 May 17 UTC
The category is Romance films and Comedy films, Scott Pilgrim is both. A very surreal love story with the silly Edgar Wright humor style. And the transition effects, visual gags, fun editing, etc. is all really wonderful to watch.
Tom Bombadil (4023 D(G))
02 May 17 UTC
That seemed unnecessary Zmaj. In fact, I really enjoyed the original Max films. Its just that Fury Road is the best of the bunch.
TrPrado (461 D)
02 May 17 UTC
It's also easily popular opinion of general public and many of my favorite film critics that Fury Road is best of Mad Max.
Gotta make it close
##Vote Ben Hur
##Vote Gone Girl (obligation to my nomination)

I like 2001, but Fury Road matches is visually, is much more fun and ya have to respect the use of old techniques in a modern action film

@TrPrado: "popular opinion of general public"

TrPrado, I hate to break it to you, but the general public is stupid.
TrPrado (461 D)
02 May 17 UTC
General public liking a film means it's widely accessible to audiences (in terms of preference instead of in terms of success). Which can never be a detracting point. I also mentioned film critics. So maybe don't be so snobby and pretentious about what the best Mad Max is ;)
