Why would he? The whole purpose of him becoming VP was to become POTUS. He's watching Trump do a dance to keep from being exposed, but it's going to happen at some point. When it does, he wants to be in good standing and be the next man up. There was no other reason for him to become the VP in the first place.

Pence was on the Trump transition team, so he may have knowledge of all these Russian meetings that are only now being examined. Several members of Trump's team from Flynn on down knew better and didn't initially report them.

Besides Paul Ryan as Speaker of the House is next in line after Trump and Pence.

Not only was Pence on the transition team, Pence LED the transition team. That means Pence is possibly criminally implicated in anything Mike Flynn did during the transition.

Depends upon the PAC and the terms it was created. Most are just used to funnel campaign contributions.

No one expects Pence to pay out of his own money since he isn't rich like Trump and he said he wouldn't use government funds.

FEC regulations say that if the expenditure is not personal, that is, it arose solely as a result of the person's candidacy or official duties as an office-holder, then it is ok for the PAC to cover the legal bills. In Pence's case, he passes the test. However, if Trump wanted to use PAC funds to pay for a statutory rape defense (arising from underage Russian escorts) that would not be covered.

Just saying I'm by far not a fan of the trump administration and the drama, but pence hiring a criminal defense attorney isn't so much an admission of guilt as it is an insurance policy. If I told you I got car insurance would your next thought be "CB is going to drive his car into a crowd of people on a London bridge" no. This is oence making sure he's legally protected when shit hits the fan with Trump.
