Well the problem is using legal legitimacy as a political tool. Democrats are certainly guilty of it, but I think it really marks a character of desperation. As much as I want to respect many of the gop today for trying to uphold our legal system with integrity, the Republican party has just been driven off the deep end by hardliners with completely irrational agendas to promote. At this point im voting not because i care so much about POTUS but because the down ballot is so vital when I hate both candidates for Prez. In my state of PA we have a vote on whether state appointed judges should be required to retire at 70 or if that should be extended to 75. There are several states voting on minimum wage issues, marijuana legalization, and healthcare reform. These are points where our votes can count to actually affect our lives. these are examples of direct democracy wasted.
