There are also 3 randomly distributed Items in the game. More details about this will follow but suffice it to say the game is artfully balanced and especially in the later game Press will be the most important factor.

The Mafia Specialists are also Semi Open.

There are a good number of old familiar roles that you have seen before, and a few that are new creations which relate to the flavour. When making the setup we wanted to have a random spread which could all be viable before we learned which would happen. I am sure the question will eventually be asked but let me just save you the trouble, the setup and every detail of it was considered nothing was handpicked and none of the roles were handpicked for anyone. We used random.org and lists to construct everything from our pool. There was originally 10 possible town PR and 10 possible Mafia PR and we trimmed out some of the roles as a GM team.

We considered for a very long time adding a town aligned Arsonist. But ultimately it just felt too absurd going with the flavour.

Mafia may be OP, but I'll have to wait until I see more details to be able to say for sure.

Special Note ITEMS:
There is a pitchfork in the game. One player is in possession (randomly) of a pitchfork which they can use to impale themselves with. This player can be ANY alignment however. Committing suicide in this manner will not count as a resignation (They still win with their team). If they commit suicide in this manner it must be done before the final 10 minutes of the day. You cannot give your pitchfork away, but it can be stolen.

There are two cell phones in possession by two (randomly) determined players who can access their own Cell Phone QT at night. These players will not learn of each other’s identity until the (Start of Night 1). They will only be told at the start of the game they have a phone but will not learn the identity of the person who has the other phone until Night 1 begins. Beware of what you choose to disclose with this mechanic. If a player in possession of a phone dies that QT becomes irrelevant. You cannot give your phone item away. If the QT becomes compromised All parties will be notified, but will lose their access.


(For questions this is essentially neighbors rules from M19 "they stole our idea ;)", but with the twist that the QT is only made possible by an item.)

Why would I ever use a pitchfork?

^ 3rd party could mean a zombie army, which means killing an infected self might help town.

@brain: Can phones be stolen or otherwise transferred to another player?

You cannot give away the phone(s) or pitchfork.

@brain I'm just clarifying... the above paragraph says that pitchforks can be stolen. Can phones also be stolen?

If so, the ramifications are awesome.

Lets just say that the 3rd party is a much more terrifying option for phone mechanics.

There will be full explanations of each possible role in later press releases but for now we wanted to show you why 17 players is balanced and how the game although it has a few gimmicks is still mostly going to be driven by a dominance of VT's

It is actually a pretty cool item. My original idea for it came to me when I noticed how in game after game someone would get frustrated when on the block to be lynched. This gives them a way out without having to be modkilled and risk losing a chance to win with their team. I understand why Vash asked. It was a perfectly normal question.

i guess it makes sense, but why not a cyanide capsule or something?
