Stalemate Draw only game
Are their 6 players who'd be interested in playing a full press game with the pre-agreement that a draw can only be applied when the board is in a stalemate position. Period. I know there are many times when to go for a win and not a draw will get you killed by the other players but if all players have no other choice, then it would take the end game to an entirely different level. I thought it might be fun and it would be interesting to see how it plays out. Anyone interested?

"Where can you get the real news from Gaza?

Right here."

That's right--

Because CNN, ABC, CBS, MSNBC, FOX, the BBC, the New York and Washington Posts, the New York and Los Angeles Times, and yes, even Al Jazeera are ALL illegitimate sources compared to an obscure website that distills a decades (some would argue centuries) old conflict down into a political cartoon with a poor punchline.

"I'm struggling to work out how 2 out of 3 Gazans are refugees from '48 and '67 despite over 50% of them being under 18. One might almost be forgiven for concluding that certain people are talking a load of bull."

^+1 for reading AND thinking at the same time (a skill it seems more and more are incapable of in a world of media blitzes, pundits, and political cartoons.)
Tolstoy (1962 D)

"I'm struggling to work out how 2 out of 3 Gazans are refugees from '48 and '67 despite over 50% of them being under 18."

They are counting the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of the mass expulsions of 1948 as refugees.

"hundreds of rockets and shells have been fired on Israel for years"

Yeah, almost entirely homemade devices that are largely harmless. If you believe the IDF's claim about how many rockets are being fired, Hamas rockets have a fatality rate of only .217%:

http://mondoweiss.net/2012/11/dissecting-idf-propaganda-the-numbers-behind-the-rocket-attacks.html

"Israel's repeatedly said it wants to work towards that."

Anyone who plays diplomacy knows that words mean nothing when judged against contrary actions. Israel says publicly they wan't to live in peace and harmony while they expel Palestinians from their homes in East Jerusalem and the rest of the West Bank - in over 70% of the West Bank ("Area C" of the Oslo Accords), expulsions of Muslims and Christians over the last 20 years and an influx of Jewish settlers have already created a 2:1 numerical superiority for the latter.

@Tolstoy

Ah, so when Sic said 'that is, they fled to the Strip in the "ethnic cleansing" of 1948 and not the Six Day War and subsequent occupation of 1967', what he mean was some of their grandparents, great uncles and third cousins twice removed fled to the strip.

There seems to be a hell of a lot of creative accounting coming from the bookkeepers of blame in this sorry mess. If they'd put half as much effort into achieving peace as they have into find ways to portray the other side as scum they would have solved the problem decades ago.
"Yeah, almost entirely homemade devices that are largely harmless. If you believe the IDF's claim about how many rockets are being fired, Hamas rockets have a fatality rate of only .217%:"

This used to be true, but in the past two years, Hamas has gotten their hands on a LOT of Libyan and Iranian rocketry, and their missiles have greater range and firepower than before

So (allegedly) ineffective shelling is just perfectly OK and acceptable?

So if Mexico right now chose to shell San Diego, just as long as they were weaker than American rockets, that'd be perfectly peachy, eh? After all, it DID used to own Southern California as well...the same way generations ago the Palestinians used to own that land...so should Mexico start shelling us, and folks like me should be OK with that?

Also, the missile intercepted en route to Tel Aviv today was of Iranian manufacture--notably higher end and far, far more dangerous.

Palestinian refugees are unique in that they are the only people in the world given refugee status for being children of refugees. I like how Tolstoy hates "anchor babies" but approves of that special treatment. Hatred of Jews comes first.
Tolstoy (1962 D)

Obi, if the US had Tijuana (which has a population comparable to the Gaza Strip) blockaded and refused to let in food (beyond enough to keep the Mexicans "on a diet" and not "starving to death"), medical supplies construction material, and newspapers; if US drones routinely assassinated the elected officials of the Tijuana municipal government; if US warships prowled the waters off Tijuana and randomly shot at beachgoers and fishing boats; if Mexicans in the Unites States were treated the way Palestinians are in Israel; if the United States was routinely kicking Mexicans off Mexican land and resettling said land with Americans; then yes, I think Mexico would be completely within her rights to start shelling San Diego.

"the missile intercepted en route to Tel Aviv today was of Iranian manufacture"

How convenient. But anyone who still takes IDF claims at face value is not paying attention.

"Or how about the Jenin "massacre"."

You mean the one where the IDF locked down the camp and wouldn't let any independent observers in after the 'battle' for five days, and brought in a whole bunch of trucks to take the bodies away in the meantime?
Putin33 (111 D)
18 Nov 12 UTC
Right, so you have no problem with Palestinians claiming 500 Palestinian civilians - and they were keen to emphasize women, children and the elderly - were murdered in Jenin. And yet after thorough investigation international observers found that 52 people were killed in Jenin. It was reported that the IDF was just wantonly slaughtering non-combatants, when the Jenin camp over 200 armed Palestinian fighters from various organizations.

Here is the report, which overall is very critical of Israel.

http://www.un.org/peace/jenin/

Nonetheless, the lies told about this event are breathtaking.
Tolstoy (1962 D)

How "thorough" can an investigation be when the perpetrators had at least five days to clean up after themselves?

"The Palestinians never lie. Nevermind that bullshit they made up about the IDF shelling a UN school in Operation Cast Lead. Or how about the Jenin "massacre"."

THANK YOU.

"How convenient. But anyone who still takes IDF claims at face value is not paying attention."

How convenient you can just decide the IDF and Israel is lying, Tolstoy, if the facts they present don't conform to your picture.

Let me try.

Tolstoy: Mitt Romney won the election!
Me: Actually...no...Obama won...CNN reports--
Tolstoy: Pff...do you actually still take CNN claims at face value?
Me: Well, MSNBC says--
Tolstoy: Pff...do you actually still take MSNBC claims at face value?
Me: Well, the BBC and Al Jazeera are also saying--
Tolstoy: Pff...do you actually still take BBC and Al Jazeera claims at face value?

Karl Rove: Pff...do you actually still take FOX claims at face value? Even *I* don't do that!

Putin33 (111 D)
18 Nov 12 UTC
Right, and that 'heroic' killing of 23 IDF soldiers in Jenin, a feat that was bragged about by Palestinian media and resistance organizations, that never happened right? Maybe that was all a part of the Israeli "clean up" effort. Everybody is a puppet of the Jews, including Human Rights watch, which said 20 civilians were killed by the IDF in Jenin - when the Palestinians said it was 500.

We can only imagine what Tolstoy would be saying if the IDF made up a lie like that.
Tolstoy (1962 D)
18 Nov 12 UTC
"Right, and that 'heroic' killing of 23 IDF soldiers in Jenin, a feat that was bragged about by Palestinian media and resistance organizations, that never happened right?"

Who said Israeli soldiers were never killed in Jenin? Doesn't mean there couldn't have been a massacre simultaneously or in retaliation. I'm sure a few Phalangist militiamen were probably killed during the Sabra and Shatila massacres, does that transform them into "battles"?
Putin33 (111 D)
18 Nov 12 UTC
http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2002/may/06/mondaymediasection5

23 IDF soldiers killed, one of the largest death tolls for the IDF in any single battle to that point, and you can sit here and still behave as if there was some kind of deliberate plan to wipe out the civilian population of Jenin, without a solitary piece of evidence to back up that claim other than the fact that aid orgs were denied access to Jenin for several days? (Yet somehow this did not prevent Palestinian media from reporting about their heroic resistance throughout).

This is why when you bitch about media bias or distortions, you have no credibility whatsoever.
Putin33 (111 D)
18 Nov 12 UTC
b. On April 12, United Press International quoted the Secretary-General of the Palestinian Authority, Ahmed Abdel Rahman, as saying “[that] thousands of Palestinians were either killed and buried in massive graves or smashed under houses destroyed in Jenin and Nablus.”

b. On April 12, United Press International quoted the Secretary-General of the Palestinian Authority, Ahmed Abdel Rahman, as saying “[that] thousands of Palestinians were either killed and buried in massive graves or smashed under houses destroyed in Jenin and Nablus.”

c. Also on April 12, Hassan Abdel Rahman himself told CNN’s Bill Hemmer:

And I assume that the president of the United States has not seen the massacres and the mass graves that occurred yesterday, or the day before, or in the last two weeks in Jenin and other areas.
d. On April 13, Agence France Presse reported in the name of Palestinian Information Minister Yasser Abed Rabbo “that Israeli bulldozers had dug mass graves for around 500 Palestinians he said had been killed there, half of them women and children, he said.”

e. On April 14, Nabil Sha'ath told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer: “There has been a cover-up, and bodies have been taken away to clean up. The six days since Jenin massacre have been just a clean-up attempt, to cover up the massacres.”

The next day, Sha’ath repeated his charge and amplified it, again to Blitzer on CNN, this time providing intricate details of how Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was attempting to hide the crime:

SHA'ATH: We don't know the exact number [of dead], because already a lot of the bodies have been snatched and buried elsewhere in unidentified graves that we learned about during the Jenin massacre. He [Sharon] took six days to perpetrate the massacre and six days for a cover-up. And he will not repeat what he has done in Sabra and Shatila. In Sabra and Shatila, the next morning the 4,000 bodies were still in view. And, therefore, the indictment was very clear. This time he, [sic] took six more days for a cleanup. He didn't allow anybody to come in. And he will only allow them after he has done the cover-up. We are facing a very, very serious crime.

So, whatever, Tolstoy who believe any lie as long as it is told by a Palestinian. We know this is what always happens whenever nobody can find any evidence of "massacres" occurring against Islamists - they make up these ridiculous stories about bodies being carted off in "refrigerated trucks" the middle of the night. They pulled the same shit in Yugoslavia. They did the same thing in Libya. They're doing the same thing in Syria.
Tolstoy (1962 D)
18 Nov 12 UTC
"without a solitary piece of evidence to back up that claim other than the fact that aid orgs were denied access to Jenin for several days?"

And a whole bunch of eyewitness testimony.
Putin33 (111 D)
18 Nov 12 UTC
"Eyewitness testimony", right. Testimony would could not be independently verified and has been exposed for being lies.

Where are the mass graves and refrigerated trucks?

You only believe this bullshit because Palestinians made it up.

Why am I even dignifying the whackjob who believes the Srebrenica Massacre was a hoax by replying to him? All Muslims are liars, got it. Good night, Putin.
Putin33 (111 D)
18 Nov 12 UTC
Wait a minute, so you routinely shill for antiwar.com claiming it is a legitimate news source, when it is a website that has criticized the accepted propaganda around Srebrenica to a very great extent. It's hilarious how things change as soon as it becomes convenient for you. But please, run away as soon as your claims become too absurd to defend. It's too difficult to confront the echo chamber you live in. The trauma too severe.
Tolstoy (1962 D)

http://www.jeremiahhaber.com/2012/11/israels-pre-election-war.html

"I spoke with an expert on the Israeli military shortly after "Operation Cast Lead," and when I told him that many argued that the operation was a reaction to Hamas rocket-fire, he laughed. He said that Hamas rocket-fire was deliberately provoked when Israel broke the cease-fire so that Israel could do a little "spring cleaning," deplete Hamas's arsenal of weapons. He told me that this happens every few years, and that I should expect it to happen in another few years. Israel will assassinate a Hamas leader, Hamas will have to respond (wouldn't Israel, under those circumstances?) and Israel will perform a "clean up" operation. If Hamas is smart and doesn't play into Israel's hands, then Israel will also come out ahead, because it will be weakened in the eyes of the Palestinian public. It's win-win for Israel. That's what having control means."
Putin33 (111 D)
18 Nov 12 UTC
Wow, a polemical blogger claims he spoke with some unnamed "IDF official". In Tolstoy's world where there is a total lack of critical thinking, this is a smoking gun. Funny that this polemicist doesn't name said official. You'd think he would be eager to expose him.

Forget the fact that Netanyahu was destroying all challengers in the polls well prior to this operation, and doesn't need a war to build up his poll numbers. In fact, waging a war at this point if anything puts his position at risk. Imagine if another 2006 Lebanon-style war occurs. That war took a heavy toll on Olmert's popularity.
Putin33 (111 D)
