I'm not a moderator here, but I've been and am a moderator for other online community hubs, and I can tell you that being a moderator is not a privilege, it is not earned, it is not something to be coveted or desired.

Sure in a small, immature, internet-child manner, having "Mod/Admin Team" on your public profile might make your e-pubes sprout a few years early, but its silly to think there's some kind of rite of passage or criteria checklist for becoming a moderator of anywhere.

That's something akin to "Man if I buy enough drinks here and be the perfect customer, maybe they'll let me serve drinks to other patrons for zero pay!"

If the pub needs more wait staff, they'll ask. They don't take applications.

@zultar. It wasn't necessarily directed at you. Someone asks to be a mod at least once a day. Multiply that by ten for everywhere I frequent and the mention of "How does one become a mod..." sends me on a blind tirade.

There's nothing suspicious about that game. The players don't know each other.

@Geo, that certainly was not the conclusion that the majority of the players in the game reached. I have already said I don't want to say anymore about it, and so I won't. I, however, ask you to do the same. Either that or go though the game carefully, watch their behaviors, and *perfect* timing on support.

@Eden: It's really not that surprising, when you think about it. I would have had to have been familiar enough with the site to know that it accepted single character usernames and non-ascii characters.

Not necessarily... just trying it during account creation and finding it worked would have been sufficient. Still, I see the similarities. Interesting! Good to have you back, I wondered where you went.

@Geofram You must be joking, England had the ability for several turns to retake Liverpool and did not, he showed no interest in winning and played only to help Russia. Additionally, who cares if people ask to be mods or show interest in that position. Even if they are not qualified it is still nice to see people showing enough interest in the site to be willing to work to help its upkeep.

I've emailed the mod again and this time, with specific year and moves and inconsistencies. Let's leave it at that.

It is interesting looking at Aytons profile. He and rabid flea bite are in almost all games together. Rabid flea and archie have many games in common. Add to that the fact that Archie has only one once (this game) and had perfect timing with Aytons support. Hmmmmm

Oh, and for the record, I've lost to multis before and didn't get points back. It's not the points, it's the integrity of the game. I believe that's what zultar's issue is.

I agree it sucks, but such is life. The mods' work would increase 100 fold if we had to go around and give everyone points back after a cheater was banned. It simply isn't practical.

@ Abge: I would expect that it would be possible to cancel games retroactively, would it not?

And even if you didn't get points back, it wouldn't affect GR that way...

How can you possibly think that there is nothing suspicious?!? Take a gander at the move in which Russia to LVP and supported England to Munich -- in a press game, sure but GB no f#%*ing way! Then, to add more fule to the fire, how about the DOUBLE support from Munich to Tyrolia?!? Couple that with a Russian fleet in the NAO and an English build in London and BOTH sides with complete and utter disregard for defensive positioning and you see two player who were obviously communicating or one player playing BOTH nations. Either way the fact that you see nothing is ASININE!

@Abge, like Czech said, it's not the points that matter. It's the integrity of the game. I have an extreme dislike of CDs/NMRs, but I truly hate cheaters.
I did receive your email and I responded by pointing out specific moves that are imposible to coordinate in a gunboat game and how E never bother to protect his home SCs and let R kept Liverpool to build an army, which was critical in beating back Austria.
If you can cancel the game, that would be great. Points -don't care. Record -that does matter a little but not enough to make an issue out of it. Cheaters -I think we need to do something about them. That's just my opinion.

@zultar, my apologies, it is just such a touchy situation because everyone would love to see a resolution to a the very complex problem of cheaters on this site.

@all - Discussing an ongoing gunboat and posting cheating accusations on the forum are both violations of the site rules. You all are just as guilty as those you are accusing may be of cheating.

That's quite a stretch to say we are a guilty as those that actively cheat during a game. Although posting cheating accusations may well be a violation, it is an administrative/ preference regulation NOT an "game rule" like the cheaters blatantly violated by obviously communicating or multiaccounting in a GB game. Say what you want, they're not even remotely comparable. We gain NO advantage from our alleged violation, while the cheaters gain COMPLETE advantage and violate the entire spirit of the game and the site.
