Before you integrate the GR in the site I would like to see a more general solution that works with different player variants.

The GR does work with variants sleepcap, they are just weighted differently to reflect the skill level and the number of players per varient.

Building off of what jmo said, GR works here on the different variants because well, there aren't many of them, and the variants that are allowed on here still keep the game fairly balanced. I know you're looking for stuff that would work on Rinascimento and a couple other fairly imbalanced maps, and without talking to TheGhostMaker himself, I wouldn't know how to manipulate the ELO system to account for that stuff.

14a. Pre-CD Phase: Instead of Contingent Takeover in hopes of a second missed phase, I would suggest that if a turn process would create a CD for a second missed turn (first order check), that the game would be extended by one phase length and the seat vacated. That would keep the current players more honest and give a new player only one missed turn to step into. All other player moves should be saved, but not readied as in a press game a new player may want to chat. That booted player would also be able to buy back into the game just like anyone else.

I also strongly suggest there be a material discount to filling an empty seat -- everyone else benefits from the increased pot except the guy doing the favor by joining. I would suggest first three centers free, rather than a percentage.

I'd like to add a vote for removing game stamped in game. Great suggestion for whoever posted it.

I do like option 4 though - for those that want to try playing completely against their normal tendencies w/o worrying about how it will impact them.

Also, if GR does integrate - I know it's weird - but I think I'd still want it to be update monthly. It's sorta fun to have to wait for it.

One thing I'd like to add to the list is a hardcore WTA mode where a draw includes eliminated players (but not CD players.) The purpose is to discourage simply going for a small draw as if that is an accomplishment.

I think the non-GR games and 0 point game should be one and the same. And I suggest a minimum number of games played before you can create a 0 point (and therefore non-GR) game. These unrated games also shouldn't count in your stats, right?

On the "forum topic going to more than one page put page selector at bottom", I gave that code to Oli/Sleepcap for vdip already. It also includes a refresh button on the last page which adds any new posts since the page was loaded. This is different functionality than refreshing your browser page.

Changes that I've coded but will have to recode for webdip 1.3 and resubmit to Kestas:
+PM notification at top of page, clicking on it takes you to index.php?notices=on page.
+Refresh/pager button as implemented on vdip and mentioned above.
+Show Notes tab next to country chat tabs, including in gunboat. Show global in gunboat, but "read only" during game, opened up after game. This fixes issue of not being able to clear message icon in gunboat games that have had a ban. This could also be used for "special rules" games for showing those special rules at the top of global.
+Profile option to have country abbreviations show in global chat for colorblind. Also can be set to always be on for variants so ones with many similar colors can always have the country names/abbreviations on without having special variant code.
+Join game confirmation box indicates that for live games it'll start at the schedule time, not when all players have joined. (Live game is defined in webdip as less than 1 hour/turn phase length.)

If vdip have got all these features why are they not on Webdip?

Aren't 2 and 14 essentially the same thing?

I understood a contingent taekeover to be when you see a player with "missed last phase" you can contingently take the position if he does not come back. It would involve you entering orders for the following phase and if he returns, nothing happens, but if he doesn't you play the country and get an additional move.

Yeah, 2 would have the CD'ing nation miss two turns before it can be picked up, while 14 would have the CD'ing nation miss only one turn.

2 only has one missed turn because the game pauses or extends without processing while a replacement is found.

What if they were combined such that a game wouldn't progress with a CD nation unless everyone Readied their orders until another power took over the CD then the phase timer would start again with a full phase on the clock. This way it wouldn;t be paused per se, but all players would have to agree to progress with a missing player by readying their orders. And combine it with the CDer having to rebuy at full value if he wants back in the game after CDing as a punishment for disrespecting the other players.

40. (see point 24.) As for the Forum, I had suggested that it was split into a few (5) headers/groups, I know that it would entail some work... but it might be worth it. Dip: (talk about the game per se, stratedies, openings, etc.), Play: (invites & discussions for non-live games), the Arena (Live games & see next point on that), General / News (whatever is up and what the ever hoot ppl wanna rant about that has been spurred usually by outside forces lol), and , as suggested the Mod only zone.
