Obi Is A Dirty Liar
The specifics don't matter. All that matters is that an independent agency has confirmed that Obi is a dirty compulsive liar. Obi to Lying is like Krellin to Alcohol. My job is done here.

foreign girl BUSTED playing hard to get
calls her friend to tell him she's in trouble. at the end of the call utters something in her native language meant to be construed as "help me!" or something, but it just happens to be one of the few things you know in her language and it means good luck with your work (guy she called is working late for some reason). hard to get: BUSTED

Any Electronics enthusiasts around?
I have an old radio I want to add an antenna to. I've done this in the past and if the PCB is labeled it's very easy. This one is not. Is there any simple diagnostic I can do to quickly find the FM radio?

Yes, people who oppose everything and offer no solutions are insufferable. The purveyors of false equivalence at every turn are insufferable. You think you're offering edgy analysis when you're just being misleading.
Putin33 (111 D)
19 Oct 12 UTC
You are the forum's equivalent of politifact. You portray falsehoods as half-truths and truths as half-truths in the name of faux 'balance'.

Zmaj (215 D(B))
19 Oct 12 UTC
Haha you wish :) Sorry, Putin, I'm taken. You'll have to find another victim.
I've offered plenty of solutions, they're simply all non-starters to you because they involve not empowering a corporatist state and not naively believing a corporatist state would exploit whatever power you give it for its own ends. Furthermore, it's not false equivalence - you seem to call this on everyone every single time anyone points out that anybody on the political left did something bad that's also done on the political right, so I' not particularly bothered by this charge, because I know coming from you that it's meaningless. Finally, I don't think I'm being 'edgy' - but I do think it's interesting that you jump to that conclusion. Projection much?
Lol if I'm politifact, I guess that makes you the Red Army. Obsessed with Nazis, Dear Leader, fucking Germany at all times of the day and completely incapable of understanding nuance or the possibility that one's own side might be wrong.

And libertarians can't talk without gibberish jargon. At least I park my Marxist jargon at the door, or if I use it I explain what it means and it actually means something
It's always funny when someone who thinks markets will behave if the state just gets out of the way calls someone else naive. Or a Ron Paul supporter.

"Furthermore, it's not false equivalence - you seem to call this on everyone every single time anyone points out that anybody on the political left did something bad that's also done on the political right"

Because it usually is. And in this case it most certainly is and you don't even bother to substantiate your claim, as per usual.

"Lol if I'm politifact, I guess that makes you the Red Army"

Putin33 (111 D)

How was that comment 'self-serving'? Explain your comment so I can understand better.
Gibberish jargon? Sorry, what exactly are you talking about? And who said that's what I think? You need a lot more than just deregulation, you need conscientious consumers that don't just chase the cheapest good available, for one; if you want corporations to act morally, you have to incentivize it. I argue that the state isn't the means to do it because
(a) the state is innately coercive, which is wrong; and
(b) the American state specifically has historically enabled corporations to be rapacious and immoral, far more than it has ever attempted to prevent their moral excesses.
I get the sense you equate "shooting down your absolutely awful notions that would certainly make things worse than the status quo" with "wanting to do nothing about the problem." I get this a lot from hardcore left friends of mine. Implicit in the notion is the idea that doing anything is better than doing nothing. It's an idea that's completely illogical and bogus, but an idea that can lead its adherents to suggest some pretty bad ideas. Would explain a lot about your positions, actually.

You almost got me there... I even started to write an explanation with examples from the thread, but that's exactly what you want, isn't it? Forget it. Why don't you explain why you're still stuck in WWII?

See, PE fell for your trick.
Putin33 (111 D)

Corporatist state is a meaningless nonsense phrase, typical of your ilk.

1 - Nothing ever gets done without coercion. Earth to libertarians: contracts are coercive. Property rights are coercive. The markets cannot operate without coercion. You're living in la-la land.

2 - You act like the "State" is this object floating in space, separated from the classes of people who govern it. This is the fundamental flaw in your thinking. As is the idea that the state is the problem when the state is weaker than it has ever been.

""shooting down your absolutely awful notions that would certainly make things worse than the status quo" with "wanting to do nothing about the problem.""

So before you said you actually had solutions and now you're claiming your solutions amount to shooting down other peoples ideas. Which is it? You're seriously sitting here claiming the status quo is better than plans involving the state to make progressive change, but you still manage to claim you actually have solutions. Once again you talk out both sides of your mouth.

Hard to "incentivize" conscientious consumers when 1-companies lie about their products and in libertarian world nothing would prevent them from getting away with it and 2-people can't afford more expensive products.

Derailing the thread again. Putin, you'll have to do better than that, I've seen through you.
Yeah, so everything you said there is a bad misreading - to the point of it not being worth either of our time for me to try to correct you - at best, or willful misinterpretation at worst.

I swear this is like going for a swim in quicksand. You'll probably say the same about me, further reinforcing the necessity of this conversation's termination.

Right, so after a dozen posts in which I ask for a simple substantiation of your claim of Obama being a "serial liar". We're left with nothing and then Eden runs away.

so you bring a foreign girl to a gathering, and a ghastly looking gentleman who is pervertedly obsessed with her language and culture (no doubt to try to pick up females of her heritage) starts talking to her about obscure indy bands in her country, and obscure dishes and regions in her country. she is loving every minute of it. you're sitting there like an idiot with nothing to say. how can you immediately end the situation?
