"@jmo: "***I think that the points deduction on the part of the mods worked great!"
Unfortunately, this breaks down into punishing people in games for stuff done in the forum. It's apples and oranges. Plus someone with 50,000 wouldn't mind a fine of 100 , and someone with less than 100 doesn't mind, cause they can get it replenished... "
I would argue that the punishment is suitable. Docking points for spamming the forum would be wrong. But the parties being punished brought game issues to the forum, so punishing them with a game based punishment is perfectly acceptable. the borught it across so they should expect to recieve a cross platform punishment.
That said, the punishment need to be appropriate to discourage the action. A fixed point amount means nothing, but a percentage based punishment (of total or available points) could be a better discouragment. Say half of the players total points not to exceed available points and reserving the right to make it exceed available by punishing them over time or with a negative balance in certain egrgious cases. Therefore someone like me couldn't get away with it because he only had 7

. Instead, he would have a negative effective points and have to win/draw some games just to get back to zero available points.
