No idea what to do...
So, in this game, I am facing 3 countries that are in a permanent alliance. They don't actually coordinate very well, which allowed me to get into a stalemate line. Their response to this, was just to continue doing what they were doing. I can't seem to get them to talk to me at all. They won't turn on each other. I am not sure what to do.

Everyone has agreed to pause except France, who keeps going NMR. He hasn't gone yet, but probably will, and has gunboated (I think) everyone in the game.

Private game needs seventh
Once again I started a private game and need a seventh player. The six of us have played together several times but I can assure there are no pre-determined alliances. The game name is Loki's Labyrith. Password is bladetoback if anyone is interested. Just need one to begin.

Site Error: Game 13309
I am playing game 13309 as Austria. The system apparently held all units and finalized my turn during the second round. I had been waiting for the "!!" signal that I had moves to make and only because I happened to look did I notice that all units were set to hold and finalized, even though I had placed no such order, nor recall having even been given the option of placing orders before they were entered by the system. Fortunately, this error was caught before all players had finalized.

Civil Disorder vs. Civil Disorder
According to the rules, civil disorder is the state a country enters when it misses any turn. Shouldn't this be noted in the game right away instead of after 2 turns? I am not saying that other people should be able to take up your country after only one missed turn. I am saying that after one missed turn, the civil disorder tag should be applied, and after two missed turns, an ‘open’ or similar tag should be applied.

>Maybe Airborne soldier was banned. Of course, we can't find out without his ID #.

Wait, how did you get the names; even I didn't remember.

But of course. The Messages archive; how silly of me!

Anyway, here they are:
http://webdiplomacy.net/profile.php?userID=12834
It looks like only 1 game that they did ~not~ go CD in!
JECE (1248 D)

Draugnar, you are a joke. I like this site and am staying as well. You just add some comic relief.
Let me quote your last two posts (on page 4 of the thread):

"Fine, I resign from the site. I will not be returning. The majority voted to NOT unpause and you would override that for the one and only player who wanted to unpause. You sir are an ASS of the ultimate kind. Remove me from it all, Ghostass." - Sun 06 Sep

" . . . I have sent an email to the mods requesting to be struckf rom the site. I have no more desire to be here and am taking these last few moments to say good by in PMs to a few people I like before I get voluntarily banned." - Sun 06 Sep

Read the full story, folks. It is a great read:
http://webdiplomacy.net/forum.php?threadID=472356&page-thread=1#threadPager

Toby Bartels: The names can be found under the messages tab in older games (some genius thought it was better to move these messages to your notices, where they soon disappear). How did you find his profile, though? Did you have to use the Ghostlist, which I just remembered now? Well, he wasn't banned, so I don't know what could have happened. It looks like you may be right with your rule, but who knows if that has changed by now.

Acosmist: Why won't this site exist long, exactly? Do you know something or are you just guessing? By the way, do you have the Game ID for that game?
Draugnar (0 DX)
14 Sep 09 UTC
@JECE - you claim it is the full story. Well I know what you are full of... The full story is known to me and the mods ONLY. You only know the part that you read.

@ JECE:

I read through the forum threads that I created at that time and found a reference to somebody else playing a game with that player. So I looked at that person's games, found that game, and found Airborne listed in it.

Considering that this was the *only* game that Airborne wasn't replaced in, I guess that I was pretty lucky!

@ Redcrane: "Off topic, but what happens when only one player is not cd? What if all players are cd?"

(a) If every other player goes CD, and you are the only non-CD power left, you win the game.

(b) If all the surviving powers go CD in such a way that (a) above does not apply (such as there being only two players left, who both go CD in the same phase, I think the game gets cancelled.

@ Acosmist: I am also curious to know what you meant by:

Acosmist: It looks like Turkey entered his moves during Autumn 1908 retreats (maybe at the last moment). If you see the messages, Turkey made two comments during Autumn 1908. He was able to join the game because France also had to enter a retreat. France chose to disband his unit in Munich instead of have it retreat to Bohemia or missed its turn. It looks like France missed its turn (which would have given Turkey more time to enter its retreats if it was CD) because in the messages comments that Autumn ran from a Monday through a Friday.

Draugnar: I never claimed I knew the whole story. I am curious about the ‘whole’ story, Draugnar. Does it go way back? Maybe talking with the mods privately also made you hate me, because I don’t understand that either.
And don’t be so selfish, the thread has to do with a lot more than just you. It is a great and varied read: threadID=472356.

I was France, though. :/ I disbanded by design.
Acosmist (0 DX)

Turkey may have posted in the global chat, but he didn't enter moves. Again, I was there, and I saw that he didn't enter orders at all. He said he wasn't doing it purposely - wasn't happy with the way I was playing.
JECE (1248 D)

In the old version, there was no way to tell if you entered but did not finalize. Plus, I am not sure you can CD if you log on.

Acosmist (0 DX)

lol

Yeah, I disbanded intentionally (seemed like the right move - the army wasn't going to do anything there anyway, and my other units were more important). I can say that I observed Turkey not submitting anything at all for those three turns (spring, autumn movement, autumn retreat).

Acosmist: No, you see, I don't think there was any check mark before. How old is the game? 09:00 PM?????

djbent: It is a long read, but I told you! I didn't lie, it is an amazing read. :-) What did you like best?

Draugnar: My, my, you are one odd fellow. :-) Do you notice when you insult people? I can't even imagine you ever having second thoughts. Well, I agree with you about the forum being addicting! I don't think I've ever used a forum before a little over a month ago. It is so much easier with the forum tied in with the game using the same log-in! Hmm, pedant, a male schoolteacher, right? No, as you can (or in your case, cannot) see, I am not very insistent in these respects. I am merely making a suggestion. It is interesting to note that you claim to be annoyed at me here for being ‘pedantic’ and not for any previous history. I don’t understand, again :-)

@ Acosmist:

>Turkey may have posted in the global chat, but he didn't enter moves.

As long as a player logs on, then they won't go CD (in the sense of this site). In fact, as long as they have at least 2 SCs, they only have to log on every other phase that they have orders to enter. Maybe that's foolish design, but it's not a bug.
Toby Bartels (361 D)

Corrections:

In the last post, that should be if they log on ~to the game in question~ by visiting its page, not just if they log on at the site.

In previous posts references to ‘Airborne’ should say ‘Airborne soldier’, not to be confused with ‘airborne’.

@JECE - your definition of pedant is listed as obsolete. This is the definition I was referring to.

2. a person who overemphasizes rules or minor details.

I think that definition very clearly lays out exactly what you were trying to do with this thread. You were overemphasizing a VERY minor detail from the original rulebook. One no one else gave a flying jelly donut about.

Applauding a player in a gunboat...
Ever have one of those situations where you want to applaud a brilliant move by an opponent in a gunboat game? I wish there was a 'Tip of the Cap' button, so you could do that without violating gunboat moves. In 2-3 weeks when the game ends, it won't mean as much.

Online indicator gives away anon games
I often play private games against friends, several of whom are in different time zones. We're finding that the online and Last Seen indicators give you a pretty good clue about who's who. Probably applicable only to these situations, but I think for a truly anonymous game, they're undesirable.
