From your comments it sounds like it's working, which surprises me. I mentioned this to a few friends when the thread came up originally. It sounded like a very entertaining idea, but unfortunately we all speak English and don't have any common second languages.

We thought about trying to go from English to some third language, then back to English, but I cut-and-pasted paragraphs out of real games and they came back so mangled they were indecipherable.

I was curious to see whether this works well enough to be usable. If I understand it right, you're just going through one level of translation, right?

Each country must send messages in the country's language (England uses hindi).

So the player writes (presumably) in English, and uses Google to translate it to his assigned language.

Then he posts that translated message. The recipient would then retranslate it back to (presumably) english.

I think some countries have an advantage (or a disadvantage) because of the difficulty of their languages. I've noticed that England's (Hindi) messages make significantly less sense.

also, hindi is the only one not in a roman alphabet. that might be a factor?

It's fun, but you have to get into the spirit of it.

It helps to know the basic grammar of your language, so you can write terribly stilted english that turns out alright when translated to say, turkish. Whoever england is should remember that hindi word order is SOV.
