The only film where I felt Norton had something to show was "The People vs Larry Flynt". But that's because Forman is a genius when it comes to directing actors. I mean, Courtney Love has a major role and she's good.

Birdman is a wonderful example of pretentious crap that poses as art and pretends to ask deep questions but is actually based on cheap gimmicks.

Genuine masterpieces often do the opposite. For example, "Runaway Train" pretends to be an action flick but actually asks deep questions.
