Minimum players in classic game
Hi all, my first time creating a game on my own. Is there a way to set the game to only 4 or 5 players for a private game? I didn't see any option and it shows "game will start when all 7 players have joined" now. Thanks for any help!!

I really want to review all the messages I sent to someone, but the history logs appear limited. Are they just gone, or is there any way to see the full message logs with a player from a game?

Question concerning game rules (pms)
Hi there! I need a public and official reply by a MODERATOR.
If you play a match without anonymous players, but even without private chat (only team chat): Is it allowed to write the other players private messages in order to negotiate? In my opinion everbody see the names of the other players and everybody can write to the other players, so it is a fair system. It is a very important part of this game to negotiate, you know.
How are the official rules?

Just a question that I have, not too sure if anyone can answer them. I have been pondering how people own the site. I know that you can become part of the Moderator/Admin Team or donate to the site, but how would someone go about purchasing the Web Diplomacy site?

The Last Known World Game
I just finished up the second to last Known World game, http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=187834, on 36 hour phases, which we probably played a few years further than we might have for that honor. This leaves one 10-day phase game in a still relatively early state, http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=187877

The Shining is not "considerably" overrated, but I can see why some people might not like it as much as it deserves. Don't vote for Shit Godzilla. ;)

Ah yes, good old college days. At my school, we had triple features on campus every Saturday night. One night the features were Full Metal Jacket, The Shining, and A Clockwork Orange starting at midnight. And thus a fan of Stanley Kubrick was born.

@ Tom - "Shawshank ain't that good y'all" ... ?? This is probably why the greatest movie ever really shouldn't be decided on this site ;-)
Tom Bombadil (4023 D(G))

Shawshank is shallow. Shawshank borders on "soap opera-y"

People make fun of t.v. movies on Lifetime and Hallmark for being cliché, shallow and unrealistic romance films. Shawshank is basically the same thing for dramas/prison dramas.

That is hyperbolic because I don't think its a bad movie, but I don't think it is great. The characters - even Red and Andy - are remarkably flat for a film viewed with such reverence
CommanderByron (801 D(S))

Shawshank Redemption is by far an excellent film. Amazing cast and an entertaining story, id say riveting. But i feel it fails to innovate; it is to me the pinnacle of prison dramas but that is because it does very well what many prison dramas have done before. When i watch shawshank i cant shake the feeling that many of the ideas are cliche and ive seen them all somewhere else. While it is 100% original it doesnt feel that way to me. I almost want to look through the anthology of all prison dramas to see if it is maybe a remake of some obscure 30's black and white film. This isnt anything to take from the films credit. it is a really good drama

But, really good doesn't even come to describe Manchester By the Sea. It is a film about everyday people experiencing an everyday occurrence in a natural way. The characters are 3-dimensional and the story is wrenching. I very rarely find myself crying in films, but this film made me tear up in ways other films just cant. There is something about the way Lonergan directs this film and how Casey Affleck acts that makes even simple dialogue come across as weighted and meaningful.

SPOILER WARNING

I have to give an example and while this in no way spoils this movies story it is a scene which resonates in the film. A characters father passes and he is told his father will be placed in a freezer until the spring thaw. Him and his now guardian argue about this but it seems almost a throw away scene. Later in the film, the character opens the freezer at home and a bunch of stuff falls out. The character breaks down. through tears he expresses his dissatisfaction with his father being placed in a freezer. This to me is the most REAL conversation in a film i have ever seen.

SPOILER OVER:

I can not vote against this film.
I will not vote against this film and this film deserves to move on.
