How does one report a dubious competitor?
I'm in a game where one player is making moves that help another player, after that player attacked him from the first move. It may not be outright cheating, but it is certainly against the spirit of the rules. I would like an administrator to look into it.

Read the rules in the first post before commenting on this thread. Breaking the rules of this thread will result first in a warning, and then in docked points or a temporary silence just the same as commenting on any gunboat game would.

To Cathlics - Resigning as Voice of God?
OK...I thought it was, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me..." and the Pope, who --- isn't he like the Voice of God on earth?? -- is too tired to go on? Errr...it isn't about his strength...it's supposed to be about Christ's strength, isn't it? How disappointing is this to Catholics?

Think of this as a wishlist. Please be constructive and positive. I think it would be really good if we can come up with a solid list of 6-10 things that we can slowly work on to improve the site.

That's Monseigneur to you.

A college roommate of mine once signed up for a non-profit newsletter and jokingly used the title "Rear Admiral". He subsequently got a job working as a lobbyist and later as a high-ranking official with the Clinton Foundation. Somehow this newsletter followed him, and throughout his career, the title "Rear Admiral" has gotten tacked onto things. So my point is, be careful what you sign up for, Monseigneur Draughnar.

You should add the h. It's classier.
Draugnar (0 DX)
12 Feb 13 UTC
But it isn't correct. Draugnar means Wolffire in Sindarin. I don't know what the fuck Draugh is in Sindarin.
hecks (164 D)
12 Feb 13 UTC
Very well. I retract the "h".
philcore (317 D(S))
12 Feb 13 UTC
Add it after the D though, like dharmation.

Dhraugnar

Hey what the hell does Draugnar mean, btw? It's not your last name, but you do own the domain for it, so it's obviously something meaningful, right?

zultar (4180 DMod(P))
12 Feb 13 UTC
Wow, phil. Just wow.
Your reading ability is just mesmerizing.
Try reading two lines above your own statement.
Draugnar (0 DX)
12 Feb 13 UTC
I told you what it meant. Wolf-fire in Sindarin. Draug is wolf and nar is fire (Narsil means fire-sword for instance).
Draugnar (0 DX)
12 Feb 13 UTC
I used to play Middle-earth Play-By-Mail a lot and loved to play the Dog Lord, one of the Nazgul nations, so adopted the name from the Sindarin dictionary at the end of The Return of the King.
philcore (317 D(S))
12 Feb 13 UTC
Haha, the last post when I started writing was the hecks one about adding the h.
zultar (4180 DMod(P))
12 Feb 13 UTC
Draugnar, you are showing your age by more than one way. Next you'll tell us about how you used to have to walk 10 miles to school, duck under the desk when there's a nuclear bomb (who the hell thought that would do anything!), and write physical letters.

Let's not derail YJ's original post anymore.

Now, I'm not a Middle-earth scholar like Draugnar, but I think you should address her as: "Rodwen Draughen."
If she writes back all pissed off and stuff, then you know you have found your soul mate.
Draugnar (0 DX)
12 Feb 13 UTC
Well, except for the 10 miles to school part, the other two were true. Duck and cover was taught when I was in elementary school in the early 70s and I got "most improved handwriting" in my 4th grade class for going from illegible to sort of legible.
Draugnar (0 DX)

You want someone to call her "cavedaughter wolfeye"?
zultar (4180 DMod(P))
12 Feb 13 UTC
That's weird. The one dictionary translated as virgin she-wolf.
Where's the consistency in this stupid fake language?

At least the Klingons are consistent...
By the way, favorite Klingon proverb:

Fool me once, shame on you
Fool me twice, prepare to die
Draugnar (0 DX)
12 Feb 13 UTC
Well, it depends on dialect. Remember, Sindarin and Quenyan are related like British and American English. Klingon, onthe other hand, is a less developed language and culture so the words are more precise (in short, it wasn't created by linguists like Professor Tolkein).
Draugnar (0 DX)

I've lawyas been a fan of the Auric Goldfinger proverb:

First time is happenstance. Second time is circumstance. Third time is enemy action. This is twice our paths have crossed Mr. Bond. See to it there is no third time.

Thanks for the Ms = Mizz clarification, I did not know that.
ghug (5068 D(B))
13 Feb 13 UTC
Draug, did you just pull that out of your ass? Klingon was created by linguists.
Draugnar (0 DX)
13 Feb 13 UTC
Maybe Klingon was created by linguists, but the point stands that there is only one dialect and not a thousands of years history lile with the Elvish tongue. And black speech (orc) isn't as fully fleshed out...
ghug (5068 D(B))
13 Feb 13 UTC
It doesn't have multiple dialects, but everything you actually said about it before was wrong.
Celticfox (100 D(B))
13 Feb 13 UTC
Neither is Elvish. I believe none of the Tolkien languages are complete. I know at least the Elvish dialects aren't.
Draugnar (0 DX)
13 Feb 13 UTC
No, but they are pretty good. Black speech only has a few hundred words at best. Klingong is definitely better in expansiveness than Black speech and possibly more than Quenyan or Sindarin.
Celticfox (100 D(B))
13 Feb 13 UTC
I would say it is much more expansive. I also believe the Tengwar is more complete as well, but I'd need to ask Mr. CF to be sure.
Draugnar (0 DX)
13 Feb 13 UTC

Is Mr. CF by chance Tom Bombadil?
ghug (5068 D(B))
13 Feb 13 UTC
Hasn't she told us that he's not an active forum member?

Speaking of Mr. CF, when is that gunboat with the two of you supposed to be unpaused?
Draugnar (0 DX)
13 Feb 13 UTC
Well Tom isn't exactly a highly active member...

I am looking for decent players interested in joining my first game on this site (though I have played Diplomacy before). I hope you will find the settings satisfactory, and the gameplay of high quality. Let us see if I can honor my namesake's legacy.

Wrestling Dropped from Olympic Games.
http://espn.go.com/olympics/wrestling/story/_/id/8939185/ioc-drops-wrestling-2020-olympics

I don't understand how canoeing, handball, badminton, taekwondo, and table tennis can survive as "core sports", but wrestling, that most traditional of Olympic sports, gets placed on par with wakeboarding, roller sports, and squash.

Unpause request, v2
Our game gameID=109269 is having difficulties unpausing. Mod abgemacht offered to help but it took a little while to rally the players to post properly in the chat area.
We've now all posted '/unpause' and would appreciate some quick help. Thanks!
