Thanks, Ivo, but I would honestly be a train wreck... which may have some serious entertainment value, but if we are trying to get the F2F community to take us seriously, I'd be extremely counterproductive... You are probably right, I should not have withdrawn myself from consideration, especially if people understand my view of the situation, whatever, I could work with it, go with the flow, somehow...

I don't know you and have not had the pleasure of playing with you, but why do you think you'll just nod and smile to the interviewer? By all accounts (points, GR, and anecdotal evidence), you should have an interesting and helpful perspective on the game.

I think it's because MM thinks his views are so controversial, especially regarding draws and pauses and such. But I think that's why he would be perfect for the role. Show every side of the game and the site!

I'm just typically quiet in... abnormal circumstances, I'm a bit of an introvert. Also, I'm crap at analyzing and understanding what I'm doing and why I'm doing it, I play diplomacy by feel, but I likely also give myself a bit less credit than I should... I don't like to disappoint, and in diplomacy I feel my abilities are vastly over-estimated (I assume people assume things based on my points/GR), so I err on the side of underestimating myself to counterbalance the situation.

Anyway, I don't think my views are controversial, but I don't know, I haven't analyzed it (probably because I'm crap at that sort of thing, as I've said)...

I'm with you there, MM. I hesitated in singing up as a TA for the current SoW and then withdrew for just that reason. I play by gut and don't really "know" what I'm doing. I'm good at tactics, but unless I'm looking to stop a solo, I'm lousy at long term strategy and can't claim to really know one position. I know what I play best, b ut not why or how I get the results I do when I play those nations.

LOL, I understand now. The game comes naturally to you, so you play on an intuitive level.
You are right in your assumption that some people assume things based on GR/points, but to some degree, their assumptions are not invalid as Diplomacy isn't a one time luck event.
But I don't know about you not analyzing your views given that you are an introvert. We tend to do those sort of things naturally.
