two more questions:
1. There are some smartphones with a physical slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
Is it possible to use it for diplomacy or is it just for mails and msgs?
2. I'm inclined into buying LG Optimus One. it seems to be the best in price range I'm interested in (300$). Anyone of you tried it? is it good enough?

Just to reiterate this point, as a Blackberry owner, Blackberry + WebDip = Don't bother.

Does the Optimus come with stock android? If so, go for that as stock is much better than the awful skin Samsung uses

I've got an LG Ally awhile back. It has a really nice slide out keyboard, which I never use. The on screen keyboard is much more convenient and has word completion which I don't get when using the slide out keyboard. This was my first smart phone so I thought I'd want the keyboard, but now I know. I should have gotten one without the slide out keyboard because it had a bigger screen.

@hellalt - My Samsung Intercept uses the slideout keyboard and it just depends on if I want to use autocorrect or not as to whether I use the physical slider. In the forums where autocorrect can do nice shortcuts on words I don't use the slider keyboard. In game, I tend to use the physical keyboard because I slide a lot of abbreviations. But both work in the browser.

With the screen keyboard, as I type I get a list of words it thinks I am headed towards, just above the keyboard. I find that really useful. The slide out doesn't have that, and doesn't have any benefits, for me at least, so I just don't use it. I didn't think I'd like the screen keyboard, not having had a smart phone before, but it is just fine.

But that is just me and my experience. You may find you prefer it and are happy to have it.

@Ald and hellalt - If it has the arrow keys on the slide out keyboard, like mine, those can be very handy for editing your typos before sending. Trying to tap the screen and hit the exact place you want is a pain in the butt.

No draug they should make an app. Not only could they charge a small fee for it but it would get people who have never even heard of the game involved, and new people will make for more interesting play. So big mr. App developer why don't you get on it or shut the fuck and and stop shitting on other people's suggestions with you "holier than thou" approach to life.

You do know this is a hobby site. It's completely free and all work done on it is free.

Now, I'm under no obligation to create free software for you and we can't charge for this as Hasbro would shut the site down.

drphil - Hasbro "has an app" for it. They have their version of the game for the PC and I believe for the handhelds/smartphones, but it isn't going to talk to this sites database. So, if you want to play it on an app, be my guest, but your request was clearly for an app for this site, which is only going to happen unless someone decides to do it for free. As far as the developers of this site, that is primarily one guy, Kestas, and a few others he has gotten to help (not me at the moment). They, like the mods, are volunteers so your demand to them to make an app for it is unreasonable. If you want an app for it, write it yourself. K?

What Draugnar says is absolutely true. Making an application isn't a simple or whimsical process.

For the volunteers of this website it would be a big ask. Your statement was simple and demanding, it wasn't a suggestion and had no offer of help, advice or support. Draugnar's reponse was fair enough and he certainly wasn't rude to you or 'shitting on your suggestion'. He was just replying in a matter of fact way to your very matter of fact demand in which you didn't even to use a full stop at the end of your sentence.

See, I didnt even know that there was an app, which could have been easily stated from the very beginning minus the smartass "are you a developer?" remark. I would have been perfectly happy to discuss the matter without vitriol but that ended when draug decided that condescending language would be appropriate he welcomed such comments

I play webdiplomacy on my iphone, no problems.

iPhone and iPads are great for WebDip. Android phones and tablets are OK, but have some issues with the message boxes not scrolling. Blackberries realy only work using Bolt (and Opera mini so I'm told) but aren't optimal.

Works great on my Windows Phone! However, an app would be very useful

Does anyone else hate the listbox controls for entering moves on mobile browsers?

^^Considering the screen real estate, I don't see any real alternative.

There could be a more effective way with native controls instead of HTML controls though.
