maybe its just me but the league betting seems to reduce the overall effectiveness of having D points. sure its fun, but there would be no point in having a hall of fame section for this type of rating system.

i think the betting sounds fun and interesting but if we maintain betting, i think then we should incorporate the ghost-rating system as an official rating system. i still like the idea of the D points since it reduces noobs joining higher pot games and reduces the effects of having to join games that potentially have multis.

You're over-thinking it, and searching for reason in gambling is a slippery path :)

Plus, the overall effect will be zero, so neutrals would not have their points inflated. Don't bet and you're safe!

So, being new to the leagues and all... Are those the only players in those leagues? Are bets on other players even an option?

Personally, I think you should be able to bet on yourself if you want, but nobody else in your league, what harm would that do?

Also, must all bets be public, or could we send a PM if we don't want to add to the affect on everyone's psyche (in a positive or negative way)? If a bunch of people bet on a certain person, everyone in that league may gang up on that person, or that person may get arrogant and goof up, right? Hmmm, perhaps Ivo is right on this topic as well, I may be overthinking this.

@L1Star - there are no other players in those two leagues. There are only seven players per league and the Premiere and A leagues only have one league each. B has 2 leagues (14 total players), c has 3 (21) and D 4 (28). The leagues are such that you play the same other 6 players in 4 total games. Top ones move up and bottom ones move down, so the worst Premiere's move to A and best A to Premiere.

When is the last chance to bet. I have a couple of big point PPSC's wrapping up that might put me over 200 total points.

My guess was he meant full cover, Crazyter.

People are allowed to discuss games, but it should be considered bad form to do so extensively.

This should definitely make spectating the leagues more interesting.

Speaking of which, it would be cool if we could mark games that we want to keep track of so they would show up on our home page under a new spectating section. But then there are a lot of bells and whistles that would be cool.

Wouldn't be hard to do, although it would require either another table in the database or a very long int field on the userdata (incorrect but would work for practical database sizes)
