The Top 5 YOU Have Wanted To Serve With
There have been so many great generals, commanders, colonels, captains, admirals... some cruel, some kind (to their men, anyway) and some downright insane.

Still, imagine you have to go off to war tomorrow, any time period, but you HAVE to go off to fight a war- what's your short list, your Top 5 Commanders YOU'D want to have?

Logic and Beliefs, Philosophy, Thought... They Still HAVE THAT In The Media???
Who are some of your heroes, and what do they act like, think, believe? Are they like you in those respects? Your childhood heroes in literature and film... did you modle yourself after them, are you sort of like them today? Share your favorite heroes, villains, and THEIR beliefs, it's Friday, so let's have a fun. I kick it off with MY biggest hero in TV today, I agree with him, some even nickname me after him... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rb3GZ5DfaTY&feature=related

My last gunboat had a player banned
http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=23881
In this ANONYMOUS Gunboat game, France went into CD in 1903. A new player took over in 1904 and was banned for an unknown reason.

I understand why the mods haven't posted in the thread. But if any of them want to email me regarding the game link I posted that I was involved in, it can be 'off the record'. I don't see how this could possibly be kosher in anonymous games.

Draugnar (0 DX)

The silence of the mods speaks volumes. Perhaps this was one of them?

Dingle / Lumley: Have you emailed the mods, and Ghostmaker in particular, about this?
Stukus (2126 D)
25 Apr 10 UTC
The mods have been absent from the forums almost entirely lately, I've noticed, and if i recall, it's a busy time of the academic year for Figle and Ghost. I don't think they're deliberately being silent. I, too, would like an answer, but I think we can wait a little while for it. I'm surprised that Ghost saw nothing, but I can only assume he's busy and overworked. Once he has more free time, I feel certain that we'll get the right outcome.
Draugnar (0 DX)
25 Apr 10 UTC
Yeah, I was just poking fun about the silence of the mods. It's finals time...
rlumley (0 DX)
25 Apr 10 UTC
Dingle said he had already e-mailed the mods... If we don't get an answer soon, I may do it again.

But yeah, this is finals for me too...
I emailed during the game, and I emailed them again at the end of the game, when I saw the history of a couple of the players involved.

I heard 'nothing looks fishy' after the first email and nothing after it.

They have already done or not done what they thought was right, based on Luza's email above. The mods don't OWE me anything, so i won't be emailing again.
rlumley (0 DX)
25 Apr 10 UTC
How does nothing look fishy? It's blatantly obvious he's a cheater...

rlumley- whay did you say GTFO "our site"?
I thought this was a public and free site for all?
rlumley (0 DX)
26 Apr 10 UTC
No. This is a private site, and Kestas can ban whoever the hell he wants to.

And I hope to god they ban this cheater.
BartSimpson (0 DX)
26 Apr 10 UTC
but if they unbanned him, that means he or she is not a cheater, right?
Draugnar (0 DX)
26 Apr 10 UTC
No, it means he sweet talked a different mod than the one who banned him. The unban could be reviewed and the ban reinstated. I hope to God it is with such a blatant cheater as that. That or a mod comes on and tells us why this a-hole was unbanned.
rlumley (0 DX)
26 Apr 10 UTC
What Draugnar said ^^
Alderian (2425 D(S))
26 Apr 10 UTC
It could also be that a mod couldn't get a hold of him and so banned him but then he got back to the mod at that point with a good enough story so got unbanned.
rlumley (0 DX)
26 Apr 10 UTC
I highly doubt that someone would get banned for being unavailable...
It has happened. The mods see someone who they believe definitely deserve a banning, but they always make contact first. if they fail, then eventually the person gets bad. If the person then makes contact, if they have a good story, they can get unbanned.
Alderian (2425 D(S))
26 Apr 10 UTC
rlumley, they have specifically said that it is important to put a good email address on your diplomacy account, one that will be read. The reason being so that they can get a hold of you in these situations. If you look like a multi and you don't answer, then yes, they will assume guilt.
Frank (100 D)
26 Apr 10 UTC
i dont think they are cheats...

in Live WTA Gunboat 31, they were the only two combatants for two or three years. if they were a multiaccount or were metagaming, why would they do that? also, if you want to claim that they were covering their tracks, it is pretty tough to marshal your army within 5 minutes. i doubt that one guy could submit two pretty good sets of orders with large armies in a live game. also they never once supported each other's unit--and even that isnt evidence of cheating

in Revenge, they allied through a common gunboat signal of supporting each others' holds. they never once coordinated or supported each other, and its not like egypt coudlve done anything to stop the solo win. i dont know much about ancient med so maybe im wrong about the last point but i cant see it

in Woe to You, france was hamstrung in his ability to stab germany because of the german fleet hanging out in the english channel....also failure to stop a solo win in wta is incredibly common and though incredibly frustrating, its not cheating.

its possible that one or both of these guys are cheaters, and you guys may have outside evidence. and its certainly a suspiciously big coincidence that lulo's first three games were with aruzogar. but looking through the maps of their shared games, i dont see any real evidence of cheating. also why would a guy who has been on the site for 2 and a half years deign to cheat? looking through his game history and stats, he just seems like an unreal player. maybe some resentment here?
Frank,
While I do believe its possible (though unlikely) that they didn't actually coordinate moves by talking outside the game, I do believe they knew who each other were, which is a violation of the Anonymous nature of the games in question.
Frank (100 D)
26 Apr 10 UTC
also, when playing anon gunboat, its usually pretty easy to tell quickly who is experienced and understands norms of gunboat play...so alliances tend to form between good players. this doesnt mean they knew who each other were. better players will tend to look at archived orders, study moves, etc. and so will ally together more than one might think.

finally, lets say Arozogar and Luzalolo know each other in real life. so arozo calls up luza and says "yo bra, you sayin gunboats tonight?" and luza says "aiight" and then they join the same game. thats not cheating if they don't reveal their identities to each other. and they might happen to ally pretty often (even though in 1 of the 3 games, they clearly werent ever allies) just cuz they are good and can read gunboat signals.
Just as an FYI, Azrogar claims not to know Luzavolo.

"i don't know if he have been banned or not because i don't know him."
Frank (100 D)
26 Apr 10 UTC
i guess my point is that you guys are calling this "blatant cheating" when at the very least, its debatable.
i admit i dont spend a whole lot of time on the internet other than webdip and so maybe i'm missing something, but who would really invest a lot of time in cheating when there are no tangible rewards? ive cheated at a bunch at stuff--thrown my share of elbows in the paint, taken my share of long lunches at work--but who cheats when there is nothing to gain and no girls to impress?
rlumley (0 DX)
26 Apr 10 UTC
Evidently, Azrogar does.

Contrary to what you say, Live WTA Gunboat-31 (gameID=25125) is the BEST evidence for multi accounting, not evidence to the contrary. First of all, Germany did support an Austrian move into Sevastopol, so saying they "never allied" is blatantly wrong.

Secondly, on the last move of the game, Germany intentionally moved past the stalemate line and let Austria get the win. He could have easily covered Mars with Burgundy and still held Munich, but rather he chose the redundant support hold on Munich. Obvious cheating.

3 Anon WTA Gunboats.
3 Times Lulzavolo allied with Azrogar.
3 Solo wins for Azrogar.
3 Close second finishes for Lulzavolo.

Does that not speak for iteself?
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))

Also, Luzavolo has proven a liar, as when in the other game he was questioned about his profile saying "banned by a moderator" by doofman in the game we played, he claimed he had put that there himself. Reading back through the topic he has contradicted that entirely.
jimgov (219 D(B))
26 Apr 10 UTC
If nothing else, Lulzavolo and Azrogar should not play any games together for a very long time. Every one will be suspicious looking. And as for Frank's comment, you'd think that with nothing but points on the line no one would be enticed to cheat. You would be wrong. Some people just have to cheat. It's who they are.
Jack_Klein (897 D)
26 Apr 10 UTC
Anybody who doubts that Azogar uses multis should just go check his game history.

He's got many times where he's used a random sockpuppet to win a game... for some reason, somebody is a close second, but has only played one or two games.... and they hand him the victory on a platter.

The BIG DOG Syndrome
I am still a begginer here , But I think Top players have a little problem , When they join one game , Usually and easily people can see their points they have erned , But I think Its unfair to them as people will be more aware , specially if they are playing agains people who dont have that much points who will feel treat.

PD : English is not my mother tongue so dont mess with the ortography :P
