Make more links links instead of buttons.

I'm thinking mainly of the ‘Open’ buttons in a list of games. I used to be able to go to someone's profile and open up a bunch of their games at once in different tabs with Ctrl-click, but now that doesn't work.

But more generally, if there isn't some POST data from a text field (or whatever) going with it, then it would be more convenient if were a normal lnk.

similar to toby, i think it would make more sense to have the game titles be the links to open the game, and not have the separate links underneath for open/orders/etc. that will take some of the clutter out of the interface, as well, which people have complained about. i really like the little press envelopes though under each country, so keep those please! =)

Ah, here's a bona fide bug that I can't recall being mentioned: If, from the home page, you follow a link to a thread that's been split into a new page since you read it (or since the comment that it thinks that you've last read or however that's done), then you don't actually go to the thread; the #anchor in the URL links to a comment on the previous page.

In the PMs the "\" character appears before things such as ', " and so on.

It should be only the ' and " characters, unless my knowledge of PHP (Which is very limited) betrays me. I'm excited because I think I know what's causing this one. :-)

When echoing (printing) a statement, the form is echo "xyz", so if you want to echo a quote, there's a problem. This is solved by putting a \ before the " or ', so that it knows to print the quote symbol, not end the statement. I don't know about this site, but on the site that I manage, if you put a \" in the excel file that the website reads to display everything, it displays \", not ", because the code puts a \ in front of all " or 's. My guess is something similar is happening.

And all programmers out there are laughing at me, because this is so simple, but I'm excited anyway. :-P

Yeah, it would have been easier to store the string entered as HTML Encrypted which would replace the " and ' with the & equivalents and displayed perfectly on a web browser. At least that's what I do when I am worried about delimiters embedded in my strings going into a SQL database. Of course, if you use stored procedures and don't build SQL strings in your code, you get more secure code that is more resistant to SQL injection attempts.

Strange thing happening. Game 12050 has been unpaused - but isn't going onto the next phase, despite all of the players having ticks by them. A bug?

Pagination i9s still an issue kestas.
As someone said before (Ivo I think) if you go from list to list it will go the page where you were in the list before (you were on open games page 3 and click the button of finished games and you will go to that list's page 3 when you should go to page 1).
When you scroll down a list and in the bottom you click to change to the next page you will go to the bottom of the next page and not the top of it.

I understand that the \ is for escaping the apostrophes, but it shouldn't be displayed in the PM.

Every time I clock on games it takes me back to active, even though I always levae it on
"My Games". I actually thought that was working after the upgrade.

If I scroll back through the game maps, and then come back to the current map, it stops at the last turn's map, not the current turn's map.

It's just a pet hate, but can you please stop using italics. I don't know if its just my screen or what but they look horrible and are unnecessary for highlighting things (you use BOLDness, fonts and colours for that, which is fine).

For instance, on the main "Forum, Notices, MyGames" page in the MyGames column you get the name of the game in normal text, below that is the season/year "Autumn 1907" in Italics and below that is the phase "Unit-Placing" in BOLD Italics - which is even worse!

It's the same on a game page. At top-left it has the name, season/year and phase formatted as above. At top-right it has "Next Phase" in normal, "26 hours" in BOLD, then "(Thu 08 AM)" in Italics! It's already in brackets, it doesn't need the Italics. Below that is what was bet, what it's worth, number of supply centres and number of units, all done in different colours and BOLDness but *all*in*Italics* (Arrgghhhhh!).

Please please please dump the italics.

Yes, italics are pretty universally ugly.

Another bug: I'm in a game where the only order I need to enter is a disband during the unit-building phase, and even though I've finalised, I get the tab with the !! notifier.

I would read all but the first post to make sure I wasn't repeating something already said, but I'm going out of town in a matter of minutes and needed to remember this.

The chat archive is a great idea, before it I was making copies for myself for end-of-game reports and for strategy.

But it puts every message in one long list by timestamp, which is almost impossible to read. Is there any way to sort it by country with global at the bottom?

Give a check box so that people can mark games that are variants. Also allow them to do this with games they have already played.

This games can then be separated in the stats.

- chatbox doesn't scroll
- when clicking on games, it always goes to active games list instead of the last visited tab
- unicode doesn't work in private messages

To build on alamothe's first point: when using my phone to use the site I find the chatbox does not always scroll. Patience and clicking a few times seems to solve this.

2nd...the message about the 'small map for the current phase' that pops up every time I move the curder is distracting when navigating around the map. Could it be euthanized ?

Color-blind people like myself still have a problem. Case in point, I just took over a CD as Austria and when I read the press between Austria and Germany, I really couldn't tell who's saying what. The press between Austria and Italy is also hard to read, but not impossible like with Germany.

Other than that, I would like to second the request that you pat yourself on the back!
