Lol you're a master of misinformation you filthy fuck
It is true that Christmas coincided with pagan holidays, and thing like the Christmas tree have pagan roots, but to simply call it a Germanic folk tradition....either you are retarded, or a child hating rapist misinformer lying (half lying) piece of shit.
When Christianity was adopted, the pagans didn't want to give up their pagan holiday, so they kept onto the tradition but adopted Christian beliefs and the holiday became a Christian one. No one knows exactly when Jesus was born, what matters more is not the exact date, but celebrating it.
Putin33 (111 D)
10 Nov 13 UTC
Christmas wasn't a holiday until the Victorian royals (of Hanoverian-German descent) decided to make it a thing. Before that it was only really celebrated in Germany. It was banned for 400 years in Scotland. Reformed Theology was adamantly against any and all feast days. The Catholic fathers didn't consider it a holiday at all. The whole Santa Claus & Reindeer thing is straight up Wotan & Knecht Ruprecht.

You're wrong, Putin33, almost aspects of the Christmas rite have her roots in Roman uses and religion. It's considered that probably the first Christmas celebration was a reaction to the Roman solstice, a harvest party which marked the winter solstice (the return of the sun) and honoured Saturn, the God of the sowing. The christmas tree has his origin in the pagan customs and traditions. Already in the middle ages the people decorated house and court with the evergreen branches of fir, mistletoe and juniper to preserve the eternal green in winter, until the sun returns again.

Right, Putin? Please correct my logic.

Ironically, in my household, we have storage containers in the basement for our holiday decorations. We call it "The Box of Mirth"......yes...we have no mirth...

Putin33 (111 D)
10 Nov 13 UTC
How am I a grinch? I'm arguing against the grinches. But never let a complete misreading of what I'm saying get in the way of your obligatory Putin-bashing.

Saturnalia/Sol Invicta has absolutely nothing to do with Christmas as it is now understood. The entirety of the modern holiday is German folk tradition. Santa Claus - toys for good kids; ashes/coal for bad kids; reindeer; cookies; Christmas trees; advent wreaths; all of it.

Yeah, this isn't you being a grinch.

Fuck off, you worthless lying piece of shit. No thing that comes out of your mouth or is typed on your keyboard contains any truth. You say one thing, and then when you are caught in a lie, you reverse course and say something else.

Fuck off.

Go rape one of your retarded kids. I'm sure you will deny you do that...which means undoubtedly you do.

After all: Putin <--- Teacher <--- The are Rapist Teachers.

Please correct my logic as needed.

You're not arguing against grinches, you're arguing against Christmas. What else is a grinch?

"The entirety of the modern holiday is German folk tradition. Santa Claus - toys for good kids; ashes/coal for bad kids; reindeer; cookies; Christmas trees; advent wreaths; all of it."

The birth of Christ is not a German folk tradition. Do you realize how stupid you sound? You're conflating secular traditions with Christian teachings. No one ever, EVER, has thought reindeer had anything to do with the religious nature of the holiday.

Despite your bizarre claims, Christmas is and always has been a major Catholic holiday. Not only is it a holy day of obligation, it and related observances like Advent are seasons distinct from Ordinary Time in the liturgical calendar. Only Easter and it's associated seasons also get this treatment. So, despite what may be true about Reform Churches marginalizing it in the past and what is true about it not being celebrated as we know it today until relatively recently, RELIGIOUSLY it's always been an extremely important time of year, with traditions wholly separate from the modern, basically secular form of Christmas.
Putin33 (111 D)
10 Nov 13 UTC
"Christmas was not among the earliest festivals of the Church. Irenaeus and Tertullian omit it from their lists of feasts; Origen, glancing perhaps at the discreditable imperial Natalitia, asserts (in Lev. Hom. viii in Migne, P.G., XII, 495) that in the Scriptures sinners alone, not saints, celebrate their birthday; Arnobius (VII, 32 in P.L., V, 1264) can still ridicule the "birthdays" of the gods."

"You're not arguing against grinches, you're arguing against Christmas. What else is a grinch?"

I'm not arguing against Christmas, your lack of comprehension recently is quite astounding. I'm arguing that the traditions of Christmas are alien to Christianity - because merry-making and happiness are wholly alien to Christianity - because Christianity is a dreary, cold, sad and miserable religion.

I'm not arguing against Christmas, I'm arguing against Christianity.

Get that straight. Now proceed to call me all sorts of names, like the Krellinbot you have become.
Invictus (240 D)

Two of those people are heretics, and all lived in the time before the Ecumenical Councils had even closed the canon.

Even assuming everything you say about Christmas not being a big deal very early on in Christianity is true, surely over 1,500 years of subsequent practice ought to count for more?
Invictus (240 D)
10 Nov 13 UTC
"I'm arguing that the traditions of Christmas are alien to Christianity - because merry-making and happiness are wholly alien to Christianity - because Christianity is a dreary, cold, sad and miserable religion."

How a holiday celebrating merry-making that is practiced as such for over a thousand years be alien to Christianity?

At any rate, you're just full of shit here. Christianity is nothing like a dreary, cold, sad, and miserable religion. Have you even been to a Christian service?

Putin33 (111 D)

"No one ever, EVER, has thought reindeer had anything to do with the religious nature of the holiday."

The so-called 'religious' nature of the holiday is mostly non-existent in Anglo or Northern European countries. In countries where the so-called 'birth of christ' is part of a religious tradition, like Spain, it is one day of twelve, with Kings Day probably being equally if not more important.

But since we're not in Spain, what I said is absolutely correct. The holiday as celebrated in the Anglo-Saxon world is entirely German folk tradition.
ILN (100 D)
10 Nov 13 UTC
He hasn't invictus. And if he has, those voices in hid head convinced him its not. I'm a Christian, I can say it's a very happy religion, nothing as put in described it. Christmas especially is a very happy time as its the birth of Christ. I think he's making that assumption based on the fact that Christianity tells people to live in a way putin most likely disagrees, and tells that bad deeds with lead you to hell.
He is completely one sided and forgets about the repent part, the forgiveness part, loving your neighbour more than yourself, do onto others etc.

Also, as I have said earlier, putin considering as invictus said secular traditions such as reindeer etc being religious, just shows how retarded he is. He can consider Christianity anything ge wants really, but I suggest he should 1. Get informed, and 2. See people that are Christian, and how miserable they are. He is a pathetic waste of time.
ILN (100 D)
10 Nov 13 UTC
Putin, evidence? Or did you pull that out of your ass. Anglo Saxons and such always saw Christmas as a religious event you fool. And just because recently anglossxons and the west are more unreligious, does not mean they have always been that way.
Putin33 (111 D)
10 Nov 13 UTC
"Two of those people are heretics, and all lived in the time before the Ecumenical Councils had even closed the canon."

Irenaeus was the founder/originator of the canon.

"Have you even been to a Christian service?"

Yeah, they all sound like this. Monotone, dreary, life-sucking.

Yes, the fact that you're such a happy, jovial, and care-free person obviously gives great credence to your religion being a happy one.
Putin33 (111 D)
10 Nov 13 UTC
"Also, as I have said earlier, putin considering as invictus said secular traditions such as reindeer etc being religious, just shows how retarded he is."

No, apparently you and Invictus share the same inability to read basic sentences if they're written by me. I'm not arguing the German folk traditions are religious. I'm arguing the holiday as celebrated in North America and much of Europe is based on these largely secular German folk traditions.

Why are you incapable of reading or comprehending this? And why despite being incapable of comprehending you like to insult people's intelligence all the time?

Convoy Cut Support
If I convoy a unit to a province and support such that it dislodges the fleet in that territory, I get it. That's straight forward. However at the same time, the piece that would be dislodged by a successful convoy is supporting another fleet to attack the unit convoying my unit and if there was no convoy my "convoying" fleet would be dislodged. Does the convoy succeed?
