More noob questions
Just curious, when I'm at the "Home" page, some of the games I'm in have stars next to them like the stars that show up in threads you have posted in. What are these stars symbolizing?

The "Oh, Come On, It Wasn't THAT Bad," Screen and Stage Countdown
We've all seen it ...that disease known only as "fanboyitis" (or, since I suppose our diseases have to be politically correct nowadays, it's sister disease that's toally equal and in no way lesser than fanboyitis, fangirlitis.) A movie, play, book, or or show comes out- and it's great. The sequels come out- "Oh my God, those evil demons ruined EVERYTHING! EVERYTHING!!!" So sound off on The "Oh, Come On, It Wasn't THAT Bad" books, shows, films, and, yes, plays.

So I'm trying to join a game a friend of mine started up and it's password protected so just us pals can play together, but it won't let me join. If I type in the password and hit enter it just reloads the same screen, if I type it in and click on join it says I have the wrong password. HALP!

I'm thinking of an object. You have 20 questions to guess what it is. Please put the number your question is in the question, or I won't answer it.

i'll just satisfy redcrane by saying that some metal is used in every one.
Draugnar (0 DX)

Brainstorm time.

It is not functional and doesn't keep time so not a clock, watch, or metronome. Weighs less than 10 pounds so not a bicycle (although transportation is functional so that precludes it too). Made with some metal (but not all metal)...

Hmmmm...
sqrg (304 D)
04 Jul 10 UTC
"Would the majority OF people who own it be more likely to call it decorative than functional?"
-the answer was no. So they are more likely to call it functional.

have any of the answers ruled out a vibrator? (not that one would ask that specific of a question)
Draugnar (0 DX)
05 Jul 10 UTC
Well, I don't think a vibrator could EVER be called decorative.
Draugnar (0 DX)
05 Jul 10 UTC
Well the time question still rules out the timepiecse and metronomes and the weight rules out the bike.

16) Is the item normally in a visible location?
sqrg (304 D)
05 Jul 10 UTC
16) There is no answer to this. can be either way.

"Well, I don't think a vibrator could EVER be called decorative." There is pretty artistic ones out there... btw I never said people called it decorative.
sqrg (304 D)
05 Jul 10 UTC
You are looking for something inanimate and smaller than a breadbox. Normally made from man-made materials, but one could be made from (almost) only natural materials if you wanted.
It's not a (very) common household object and weighs less than 10 pounds. It does not consume energy (like a tv or a lamp) and it does not generate/provide energy for use by other devices. It has mechanical movement (moving parts) but it does not keep time. It is a functional object and made to directly benefit humans. It's not primarily for entertainment. But some people use it for their leasure activities. There can be (some) steel used to make it, but not primarily. Each one has at least some metal used to make them.
For the last question i'll clarify that you need to see it to make use of it. But it's not always used. So the answer to 16 can be either way.

17) No
18) Is it generally located in the bedroom?
sqrg (304 D)

18) No

Seems to be a hard one, although it's a pretty common object and you all know it.
Bonotow (782 D)
05 Jul 10 UTC
These are no questions just thoughts:
I am thinking of office tools at the moment. Just hard to pick a single one. A tacker maybe? Question would be: DO people use this tool for leasure...
Or maybe batteries are not counted as electricity (although they are in my eyes) and we are talking about remote controls...
sqrg (304 D)
05 Jul 10 UTC
It doesn't consume or produce energy so can't be something with a battery (in my mind too, bonotow!)
Bonotow (782 D)
05 Jul 10 UTC
so energy = electricity of any kind? or does it also include mechanichal energy like someone pushing it?
sqrg (304 D)
05 Jul 10 UTC
I said it had moving parts, so obviously there is some movement and some energy etc.
But i was talking about batteries, engines, electric devices and the like... in that sense it does not consume energy. Saying it does would only confuse you.
I bet there are some physists around here who flinch at the idea of energy not beeing involved at all, ofcourse there is :)
Draugnar (0 DX)
05 Jul 10 UTC
I said energy in the questions to include all forms of energy (gas, coal, petrol, kerosene, electric, batteries) but can forgive if it consumes human or gravitational energy. However, if it plugs in or need refilling or replacement batteries, then it consumes energy.
sqrg (304 D)
05 Jul 10 UTC
Exactly. So the question remains, what am i thinking of?
hellalt (40 D)
05 Jul 10 UTC
You are thinking of pussy. What else?
sqrg (304 D)

What else? beer!

How is beer made from steel. It's a *liquid*. Now had you said a can of beer, fine. Also, beer has some nutritional value as well as medicinal value for those who suffer from kidney stones. It is clearly functional.
realpauldec (690 D)
06 Jul 10 UTC
A can of beer is also not decorative, you don't have it around just to look at.
jodabomb24 (100 D)
06 Jul 10 UTC
19) Is it a musical instrument of some sort?
sqrg (304 D)
06 Jul 10 UTC
19) No

Yeah no beer is wrong, hellalt was right. Pussy is functional too, can be made of steel and consumes no energy -.-
Ofcourse i'm not giving you the answer :P

Last question and a last hint: stop thinking its a decorative object... it's not
Bonotow (782 D)
06 Jul 10 UTC
I am still inf or the tacker - it has moving parts, parts are made of metal, it is not decorative, it is common but not everyone has one, it is not for entertaining but it can make life more simple...maybe...
But this holds true for a scissor as well (but everyone has one at home, right?). A puncher (for leasure???). Even a pen (common in every houshold actually).
It could also be a sports instruments. But I would call those for entertainment. And the low weight...

Well, it is a tricky one. Guess it is a completly ugly object we just don't want to think of ;-)
sqrg (304 D)
06 Jul 10 UTC
Yea not every normal household has one, so scissors etc can't be it :P
But i'm sure almost all of you have seen or held one at least once in your life, it's common enough :)
jodabomb24 (100 D)

you didn't answer my question.
