You fucktards know nothing about civilian assault weapons. The AR-15 (hellbeven the real M-16) cannot shoot 30 rounds per second. You don't know what the fuck you are talking about.

Two points:
1. Draug, I thought you didn't like the term "assault weapon". I heard "tactical rifle" over the weekend. Not so sure about that one.
2. An assault weapon is not more manly than a shotgun. The only things in the universe more manly than shotguns are jockstraps, beef jerky, full beards (no less than two inches in length), chewing tobacco, pre-helmet ice hockey, and David Hasselhoff.

Ar-15 is not as Assault weapon. Not even close. It can fire no faster than a .22 with a clip.

Seriously synapse. Even in full auto, an M-16A2 can only do 950 rounds per minute and if given a feeder, that would warp your barrel in no time at all (the heat can't disipate that quickly). 30 Rounds per second is 1800 rounds per minute. You are a total fucking idiot, SY.

@hecks - Even if he could, the gas recoil isn't fast enough to eject the spent cartridge and load a new round int he chamber in .03 seconds. It takes at least .06 seconds to eject the cartiridge and load a new round.

What a lot of European commentators never seem bothered to take on bored is that in the US are approximately 300 million firearms in private ownership, and around 3 million of them (an even more approximate figure) are of a similar style to the Ar-15. I dare say there are a fair number of genuine fully fledged assault rifles out there too, be they illegal or not.

It strikes me than banning such guns ain't going to make the US safe from gun violence any time soon, if ever. I've yet to see a convincing argument from those in favour of a ban as to how exactly it will be of any significant benefit.

That is a 36 barrel vehicle mounted weapon which uses a technique similar to a roman candle to line multiple rounds up behind each other in the barrel with packing and poweder between each. It's the equivalent to a shot gun shell lined up in a row. Not something that could be done with a hand held rifle of any sort, even full auto. I was in the service. Did my time as a U.S. Marine (Arrugh!). You, however, have probably neverheld an actual rifle of any sort, much less a fully automatic weapon. Instead, you continue to prove yourself to be a fucking idiot.

Pretty sure you can easily modify an AR-15 to go full-auto with common household tools, or a kit if you aren't so handy.

You can modify almost ANY semi-automatic weapon to fire automatically, but it takes an extensive knowledge of firearms and specialized parts to do so, so no it's not easy or legal. One does not simply drop an auto sear into a standard semi-automatic AR-15.

Until you have served your country and/or handled a full-auto rifle, you have no practical knowledge and should shut your fucking mouth with claims of their capabilities. A 30 round clip takes 2 seconds to empty and another half second to reload a new clip. The recoil of firing 30 rounds that quickly makes your accuracy total shit unless you are laying ont he ground using the bipod stand and have your left arm (well protected to prevent burns from the barrel) resting on top to hold it down. And if you do that, swapping clips willt ake a lot longer than half a second.

Anyone who has ever fired a fully automatic rifle at the range can tell you that anything beyond 3-shot or 5-shot bursts are for shit accuracy wise and that includes prone firing as I described before. There is just too much recoil in the weapon to maintain your target. Forget what you see in the movies. They use partial load blanks with much less recoil and even then the barrel bounces around pretty wildly.
