How does one report a dubious competitor?
I'm in a game where one player is making moves that help another player, after that player attacked him from the first move. It may not be outright cheating, but it is certainly against the spirit of the rules. I would like an administrator to look into it.

To Cathlics - Resigning as Voice of God?
OK...I thought it was, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me..." and the Pope, who --- isn't he like the Voice of God on earth?? -- is too tired to go on? Errr...it isn't about his strength...it's supposed to be about Christ's strength, isn't it? How disappointing is this to Catholics?

Dear Brothers,

I have convoked you to this Consistory, not only for the three canonisations, but also to communicate to you a decision of great importance for the life of the Church. After having repeatedly examined my conscience before God, I have come to the certainty that my strengths, due to an advanced age, are no longer suited to an adequate exercise of the Petrine ministry.

I am well aware that this ministry, due to its essential spiritual nature, must be carried out not only with words and deeds, but no less with prayer and suffering. However, in today’s world, subject to so many rapid changes and shaken by questions of deep relevance for the life of faith, in order to govern the bark of Saint Peter and proclaim the Gospel, both strength of mind and body are necessary, strength which in the last few months, has deteriorated in me to the extent that I have had to recognise my incapacity to adequately fulfil the ministry entrusted to me.

For this reason, and well aware of the seriousness of this act, with full freedom I declare that I renounce the ministry of Bishop of Rome, Successor of Saint Peter, entrusted to me by the Cardinals on 19 April 2005, in such a way, that as from 28 February 2013, at 20:00 hours, the See of Rome, the See of Saint Peter, will be vacant and a Conclave to elect the new Supreme Pontiff will have to be convoked by those whose competence it is.

Dear Brothers, I thank you most sincerely for all the love and work with which you have supported me in my ministry and I ask pardon for all my defects. And now, let us entrust the Holy Church to the care of Our Supreme Pastor, Our Lord Jesus Christ, and implore his holy Mother Mary, so that she may assist the Cardinal Fathers with her maternal solicitude, in electing a new Supreme Pontiff. With regard to myself, I wish to also devotedly serve the Holy Church of God in the future through a life dedicated to prayer.

From the Vatican, 10 February 2013

BENEDICTUS PP XV

WOW...that is a shock...

What a wonderful surprise!

Never liked that man. Granted I'm no fan of religion in general, but at least the previous Pope, John Paul II, DID seem like he had some decency to him...Ratzinger just seemed a miserable person through and through...

And now, we wait to see who the Catholic Church will elect next.

(Man. between the pedophilia cases and this, it's been a rough time of late for the CC, hasn't it?)

Is Ratzinger unprecedented in pulling this Nixon-esque move, or have popes stepped down before?

This really is shocking. First of all, my best wishes to the Holy Father.

Now we need to look for a successor. I think the favorite at this point is Angelo Scola, Archbishop of Milan. No matter what, expect the cardinals to elect a conservative, as most of them are conservative.

So, who fires the first shots at pope Benedict? Who dares?

I'll admit that I have followed this pope from a distance, but there are quite some things to say. First and foremost, it is a serious shortcoming of this pope's administration not to have revised the Catholic Church's vision on sexuality. This includes such themes as homosexuality, peadophilia, unmarried priests, use of prevention during intercourse and marriage.

All these themes required a thorough new vision from the church that acknowledged modernity, while not rejecting Christianity. As far as I know, the pope failed in both these areas.

The previous pope set an interesting precedent in not being just a leader of Catholics and their church, but more generally a moral leader to the world, much like the Dalai Lama. This pope did not have a comparable reputation.

Although I will inform myself much better of the subject in the days to come and am curious to your opinions, my preliminary thoughts on Benedict XV are that his pontificate has been a disaster.

"In what way is covering up for the activities of hundreds of paedophile priests *not* a scandal, dipplayer?"

Thank you, Jamiet99uk...

First pope to resign in nearly 600 years, if Sybvl's dating is correct...

And people really, REALLY believe that he's stepping down solely because of old age?
In one of the few positions on Earth where you're EXPECTED to die in office?\
When that's been the tradition for nearly 600 years?
When this has been--in my view, and I'm sure I'm not alone--a VERY conservative pope?
Mintyboy4 (100 D)
11 Feb 13 UTC
No it must be due to scandal, as stated above virtually all popes die as pope. Why would this be different. Why suddenly decide to go against centuries old tradition? Obvioulsly I have no proof, but there is no real logical explanation really besides it.

He decided he's too old an infirm to do the job, and he thinks the job needs someone doing it... if he really cares, what is he supposed to delegate all the power to others? Or is he merely trying to make the position one which is more powerful with less delegation needed...

Obi, i don't see why you're coming up with conspiracies out of nowhere.

And does anyone else suspect we'll find out eventually that it's Alzheimer's? It's very much accepted. for Popes to just deal with physical ailments and weakness due to age, and the office makes allowance for it. But I could see a pope quietly resigning over mental ailments.

In a 2010 interview, he said: “If a Pope clearly realizes he is no longer physically, psychologically, and spiritually capable of handling the duties of his office, then he has a right and, under some circumstances, also an obligation to resign.”

The man meant what he said. Shocking.

I heard he want to spend more time with children.
Guys, really don't put a conspiracy twist to it all. He's stepping down because he feels he can't do the job.

I don't understand how canoeing, handball, badminton, taekwondo, and table tennis can survive as "core sports", but wrestling, that most traditional of Olympic sports, gets placed on par with wakeboarding, roller sports, and squash.
